提醒阐明型公告语多以名词形式，当然也有动词或短语形式，告知公众，提醒公众注意，主要给人提供信息。汉语译文应多以名词形式，有时也可使用动词或译成一句话，但用词一定要文雅、精确，能代表一种国家、民族或城市旳文化水准，语气要防止生硬，要符合汉语习惯，便于大众接受。

2.普通词的正式性与翻译
(1)、英语普通词汇的正式性与非正式性
拉丁语与古法语派生词，高雅而正式。它们一般较同义的、盎格鲁撒克逊语的单词（AngloSaxon words）为长。人们称之为big words。 a.正式文体中，常用用拉丁语与古法语派生词；用书面语单个动词代替短语动词.从拉丁、希腊语中吸收的词汇, 如capsule, dexterity, emanation, anachronism, pneumonia 等词, 这类词通常词形较长, 词义范围狭窄, 意义较为明确, 不易产生歧义或混淆。翻译时可直接译出。
（2）充分利用语境一个孤立的词就其词义而言具有游移性，就其词典中的价值而言又具有多义性。而词义的选择决不是随意的，它要受到语言环境的制约。人类学家马林诺夫斯基就曾说过:“语境是决定语义的唯一因素，舍此别无意义可言。” 这里所说的语境其实就是我们常说的上下文内容包括前后词、前后句、前后章节甚至整部作品内容。如“They built a machine called Logical Truth Calculator.”这句话里的术语“Logical Truth Calcu lator”有人将其翻译为“逻辑真理计算器”，闹了笑话。其实这里的“Calculator”非常关键。我们知道，计算器的功能不外乎通过某种运算得到一个结果。所以，这里的 “Truth”应该是“真实结果”、“真值”的意思。如果查字典的话，你会发现该术语指的是“逻辑有效值计算器”，说明你的翻译比较接近。
名词化结构的特征 (a) 语篇简洁例l a．Her father died when we were fighting against the invaders．She has since carried on the work by herself．例l b．Since the death of her father when we were fighting against the invaders, she has carried on the work by herself． (b)语篇衔接例2．The moment the patient was sent into the hospital，the doctor arrived and examined her．The doctor’s arrival and examination of the patient brought about her very speedy recovery．例2 由两个句子组成，前句述位中的动词arrived和 examined，名词化成arrival和examination后充当下一句的主位。
