Abstract:This article generally analyses the marriage of Bingley and Jane. The author thinks that Bingley and Jane have many similarities in their characters, which

lead them to a successful marriage although they all lack strength in their marriage. The author also points out

that Bingley and Jane married for love, not for the money, status or good looks. So the combination of them is

really a blessed and happy marriage. Key

words:Marriage,Love,Interests, happyContent Jane Austen (1775-1817), who was born at Steventon on December 16, 1775, was one of the greatest novelists in England. She was the youngest of seven children in her family. She received most of her education at home. Her family are

all fond of reading books, which influenced her very much. Her reading extended little beyond the literature of the eighteenth century, and within that period she admired Dr. Johnson particularly. And later she was delighted with

both the poetry and prose of Scott. She died on July 18, 1817, and was buried in the cathedral in Winchester. She totally wrote six novels in her life. Among the six novels, Pride and Prejudice has been valued as the most successful and popular masterpiece. In this novel, Jane Austen mainly described the ordinary life of the Bennets . She told us four different marriages to show the

readers that different people have different attitudes towards love. And also she expressed her own viewpoints

on marriage that a combination based on love and similar interests is a happy and perfect marriage. In her opinion, the money-oriented marriage and sex-oriented marriage are not successful although the people can live together. The theme is narrow, but she showed us a beautiful tableau of the England people’s life of her own time. It seems that she had a talent to describe the ordinary life of

people.“Read again, and for the third time at least,

Miss Austen's very finely written novel of Pride and Prejudice. That young lady has a talent for describing

the involvements and feelings and characters of ordinary life which is to me the most wonderful I ever met

with.”1 Because of the lack of her experiences and knowledge, the characters in Pride and Prejudice are all

of her own social class: The ladies and gentlemen of the landed gentry. And also, in every conversation, there was at least one lady.“The conversations of ladies with ladies, or of ladies and gentlemen together, are given,

but no instance occurs of a scene in which men only are present.”2 Most parts of the story are the intricacies

of courtships and marriages between the members of her class, which are great attraction to many readers.Among

all the marriages in this novel, the combination of pleasant Bingley and mild Jane is the most blessed and happy one. The couple has similar interests and they insisted on pursuing their true love, which lead them to

a happy and perfect marriage.Mr. Bingley was a good

looking and gentlemanlike person whose revenues were

about 5,000 pounds a year. As a young man who had good breeding, he was cordial and simple with easily-led disposition. With this character, he never appeared dissatisfied. He was easy to approach and constant in

love although he was very rich. However, he lacked

strength and independence in his marriage, which was a grievous defect of him. In the novel, Bingley was popular with almost everybody in everywhere. He had a pleasant countenance and easy unaffected manners. It is easy to

find that he was agreeable both in appearance and character. The first appearance of Bingley was the time when he “returned Mr. Benner’s visit, and sat about ten minutes with him in his library.”3But the exact time

when the readers began to know him was some days later.

At the first ball at Netherfield, he was shown to everybody and the readers began to make acquaintance of

his personality through his behavior.“ Mr. Bingley had soon made himself acquainted with all the principal

people in the room; he was lively and unreserved, danced every dance, was angry that the ball closed so early, and talked of giving one himself at Netherfield. Such amiable qualities must speak for themselves.”4 Of course these personal strength won Jane’s admiration. She thought

that he was just what a young man ought to be. In her eyes, Mr. Bingley was a sensible, good-humored, lively young man. And she had never seen anyone who had so many advantages with perfect good breeding! He was just her Mr. Right! At that ball,“Bingley’s attentions to Jane had

given rise to a general expectation of their marriage. He spoke of it as a certain event, of which the time alone could be undecided.”5 Mr. Bingley also noticed Jane at that night. He fell in love with Jane at their first ball and their romance flourished quietly and steadily. His affection towards Jane was obviously sincere andunaffected. It was obvious that when Jane suffered a trifling cold, he was worried about her. His anxiety and attention to her was evident. For example, when Elizabeth said that she couldn’t leave her sister because Jane’s illness was worse, “Bingley urged Mr. Jones’s being sent f or immediately.”6 and “Bingley was quite uncomfortable.”7 The following sentences also are the evidences:

傲慢与偏见婚姻观 main meaning: Marriage is the central topic in Austen's Pride and Prejudice and Emma: the plots of the novels and the actions of the characters revolve around marriage. For Austen's characters, marriage does not mean the act of ungoverned passion but a complex engagement between the marrying couple and society. Austen's characters are completely integrated into society and play out the stories within the social rules. Based on Socialist-feminism, this thesis examines social background in Austen's time and explores how social conditions influence females' psychological struggle and anxiety toward marriage. For Socialist-feminists, material factors shape women's marital consciousness in determinate ways. The discussions of male class and female status in the end of the eighteenth century are helpful for understanding why marriage is the central topic in Austen's novels. In a sense, marriage is regarded as a market place to exchange upward class mobility and financial support for Austen's characters. In order to achieve the goal of marriage, females are good at transforming themselves into commodities by displaying their appearances and accomplishments to appeal to male gazers. They realize that marriage can provide opportunities of class mobility and financial support; money and class are thus closely connected in their decision of marital partners. keywords: Plot overview ;.Analysis of the major character ;Themes ;Motifs ;Pride and Prejudice ;marriage The feeling of 《Pride And Prejudice》 Then man treat great event in one's life with punishing, Demonstrate different attitudes to the love question of the marriage of young girl of the family origin of middle class of villages and towns, Thus reflected authors oneself's marriage view: It is wrong to get married for the property, money and position; Get married and does not consider that above-mentioned factors are unwise too .

The distance is nothing ,when one has a motive. Mrs.Bennet’s eyes sparkled with pleasure. We must trespass a litter longer on your kindness. Mrs.Bennet was profuse in her acknowledgements. I often tell my other girls they are nothing to her. That is my idea of good breading;and those persons who fancy themselves very important and never open their mouths , quiet mistake the matter. A lady’s imagination is very rapid;it jumps from admiration to love, from love to matrimony . Pride relates more to our opinion of ourselves, vanity to what we would have others think of us. He is ate up with pride. Upon my word ! Affectation of candour is common enough –one meets it everywhere. But to be candid without ostentation or design—to take the good of everybody’s character and make it still better , and say nothing of the bad—belongs to you alone Mr. Bennet was so odd a mixture of quick parts, sarcastic humor, reserve, and caprice, that the experience of three and twenty years had been insufficient to make his wife understand his character. Everything nourishes what is strong already. She had high animal spirits, and a sort of self-consequence. The day passed much as the day before had done.

On Jane Austen's View of Marriage in Pride and Prejudice written by Zhu Mengxian Abstract: Jane Austen's masterpiece Pride and Prejudice fully embodies her view of marriage. In the following, a brief review is given about her views on marriage by analysing several related articles. Key words: Jane Austen. Pride and Prejudice views of marriage Introduction: Jane Austen humorously described different kinds of marriage relations in Pride and Prejudice. Until today, this novel is still very popular among many readers and arouses people's observation and unlimited thinking of marriage. Review: It has been pointed out that Jane holds the view that love and marriage are associated with but not totally lie on the property and social status, the marriage which is based on the love is a true happy marriage. There are many articles to support this view. For example, one of researchers thought marriage and property and social status are interconnected, but marriage could not only depend on the property and the social status based on researching the four young couples' marriages in this novel which can be categorized into two groups according to their different marriage foundation, Simply one just like Charlotte — Collins and Lydia — Wickham is called unhappy marriage. The other one like Elizabeth —Darcy and Jane —Bingley is the opposite. “ She believed that marriage just for money was wrong, but marriage of no money was stupid.” On the other hand, some papers have reported that Jane attaches great importance to ideal marriage and regards the feelings between men and women as the cornerstone of the ideal marriage. Austen fully expresses her views on love and marriage only by appreciating the marriage founded on the basis of mutual admiration, understanding and mutual respect. In Tang Chunhua’s paper, she considered that “ She believed that a husband not only need have certain number of family property but also must respect women, and at the same time there must be mutual understanding between them.” It happens that there is a similar case, Yu Hongen pointed out that Jane stresses that character is important than appearance in a marriage. “Austen believes that the person’s character is more important than appearance in the matter of a happy marriage.”“They have common in character and mutual appreciation, it is the most solid foundation that they can go into the marriage hall and toward a rational happiness.” At the same time, it emphasizes the independence and dignity of women on the marital problems. Conclusion: During her time, Jane's view was so advanced that it was not accepted widely. Until today, it still has important influence. Austen’s views on marriage and love are also suitable for our real social. We youth should make right marriage and love views to orient our lives. There are a thousand Hamlets in a thousand people’s eyes. In a word, we can find her idea about marriage from the analysis, marriage, property and social status interconnected, but not absolutely. After I briefly knew the author -Jane Austen .About her life ,her experience .I found she was an sensitive, strong in mental ,maverick and independent woman.I do really admire her.In 1775 December she birthed to this world. She has eight brothers and sisters. Her father, who had served in that area for forty years, and he also was a encyclopedic clergyman .And the same her mother ,came from an welfare family, she also had certain cultural accomplishment. Therefore, even though Jane ha dn’t go to the official school, because of the great family condition and the environment of reading books .All of those give her the chances to learn by herself and then build up the interests about writing. When she was only thirteen or fourteen years old,she stared to writing something she liked. This showed her talent about her language expression. In the1800,her father retired, and they moved to somewhere, but Jane didn’t like there. At there,Jane refused the marriage from a teenager who will inherited a larg e fortune, just because she didn’t like him.The gods throw out the questions ,we human need to find ,to choose the answers by ourselves. The answer from this problem is probably not "no" to us now.
