0 Intr0duction 
Stainhess/carbon steel plate is applicable in various 
conditi0ns such as chemical and nuclear industry in that it 
0vercomes some limitations of single materia1. It also gets 
to find wide application in shipbuilding industry.the con 
struction industry,as well as civilian enterprises.Present一 
1v.some limitations in hot—rolling bonding,explosion 
welding.cold.rolling bonding and casting bonding technol— 
ogv hinder their widespread utilizationl1-3j

Thus the im— 

Drovement of bonding method, the exploration of new 
process,and the perfecting bonding effect have become 
most heatedly discussed subject. 
At aT0und l 000 .the surface of carbon steel call 
fotva oxide laver with the heat produced by hot—rolling,which 
exerts a serious impact on the hot—rolling process 。J. 
Therefore,hot.rolling bonding process has to be carried 
0ut in vacuum.This paper proposes the hot—rolling bond— 
ing method of nickel plating Oil the base materials,which 
Drevents 0xidation and protects base materials by virtue of 

nickel plating process in non—vacuum[ 一 ]
. 

The stainless/carbon steel composites can be pro。 

duced in non—vacunm once the research from this paper is 
proved,and the roll—bonding process in lion—vacuum 
makes pr0duction costs lower than that of stainless/carbon 

stee1 in vacuum. 

1 Experimental materials and equipment 
0235 carbon steel and SUS304 stainless steel are a。 
dopted as materials fbr h0t.rolling bonding.The composi— 
tions are listed in Table 1. 
The size of hot—rolling bonding of carbon and stainless 
stee1 in nnn.vacuum is 72.5 mm×62.5 mIn×5 mitt 
and 60 mm x 50 mm×2 mm,respectively.After the pre 
treatment.its surface is plated with a layer of about 20 m 
in thickness.The parameters for rolling bonding are as fol— 
lows:heating temperature is 1 000 ,preheating time is 
1 5 min.and the ratio of reduction is 50%.The scanning
