although henry ford’s name is closely associated with the concept of mass production, he should receive equal credit for introducing labor practices as early as 1913 that would be considered advanced even by today’s standards. safety measures were improved, and the work day was reduced to eight hours, compared with the ten-or twelve-hour day common at the time. in order to accommodate the shorter work day, the entire factory was converted from two to three shifts.in addition, sick leaves as well as improved medical care for those injured on the job were instituted. the ford motor company was one of the first factories to develop a technical school to train specialized skilled laborers and an english language school for immigrants. some efforts were even made to hire the handicapped and provide jobs for former convicts.the most widely acclaimed innovation was the five-dollar-a-day minimum wage that was offered in order to recruit and retain the best mechanics and to discourage the growth of labor unions. ford explained the new wage policy in terms of efficiency and profit sharing. he also mentioned the fact that his employees would be able to purchase the automobiles that they produced -- in effect creating a market for the product. in order to qualify for the minimum wage, anemployee had to establish a decent home and demonstrate good personal habits, including sobriety, thriftiness, industriousness, and dependability. although some CRIticism was directed at ford for involving himself too much in the personal lives of his employees, there can be no doubt that, at a time when immigrants were being taken advantage of in frightful ways, henry ford was helping many people to establish themselves in america.。

Henry Ford was an American industrialist and inventor who founded the Ford Motor Company. He is known for revolutionizing the automobile industry with the assembly line and mass production techniques. Ford's Model T was the first affordable car for the average American and it changed the way people lived and worked. One of Ford's most famous quotes is "Whether you think you can or you think you can't, you're right." This quote emphasizes the power of positive thinking and the importance of believing in oneself. Ford believed that anyone could achieve their goals if they had the right mindset and worked hard enough.Another important aspect of Ford's philosophy was his commitment to paying his workers a fair wage. In 1914, he introduced the $5 workday, which was a significant increasefrom the average wage at the time. This move not only helped his workers, but it also allowed them to afford the products they were producing.Overall, Henry Ford was a visionary who changed the world with his innovative ideas and determination. His legacy lives on today through the continued success of the Ford Motor Company and the impact he had on the automobile industry.

One hundred years ago today the first
Model Ts hit the market . The Model T wasn’t among the first cars ever made ;
Karl Benz and Gottlieb Daimler made those .The boxy, black car made from steel wasn’t the fanciest either . Actually ,what made the Model T special was how ordinary it was . A technological marvel yes , but one common people could afford.
The man named Ford
Henry Ford , the person behind the Model T and Ford Motor
Company , was born in 1863. A farmer’s son , Henry became more interested in machines than farm chores. Against his father’s wishes , he became a mechanic’s assistant at age 16. In the 1890s, inventors began making automobiles, and Ford, an engineer at the time , hopped on the bandwagon . He spent long hours working in a shed behind his home , causing his neighbors to call him “Crazy Henry.”Then at 2:00 a.m.on June 4, 1896, he drove through a wall of the shed in his first automobile. This automobile eventually led to the formation of Ford Motor Company.
The creation of the Model T
When Ford Motor Company was founded in the early 1900s, existing carmakers were producing high—priced cars for the upper classes Having a different goal for his company , Ford stated, “I will build a motorcar for the great multitude.”He spent two years designing the sturdy ,lightweight , inexpensive car in 1908 .The Model T sold extremely well and soon dominated the car market .
Making more cars
Even after the first Model Ts were sold , Ford wanted to lower the car’s price even more .Greater automation in factory production allowed him to do that. In 1913 , Ford introduced the moving assembly line .Workers stayed in one place and did one job on each car as it moved past them . By 1927, a Model T was rolling out of one of Ford’s factories every 24 seconds. The Model T , the moving assembly line and the man who made them influenced the 20th
century greatly “Crazy Henry”made owning a car possible for millions , beginning America’s long love affair with them.
