My father got sick yesterday while he was working at the factory and was taken to the hospital.
I had to stop everything to go and look after him. I was so glad that I had made time to get together with him regularly before this illness. We had always got along well, but with four children to raise, he had always had to work hard to support such a large family, and I was always busy too. There wasn’t much time to get together very often. However, as his eldest son, I’d felt I should spend more time with him, so one day, I called him to ask if he could have lunch with me once a month. He agreed and from his voice I could hear that he was very happy with the idea. At first it seemed that we didn’t have much in common to talk about, but as time went by, we found that we had lots to talk about. He told me about his experiences as a young man and how he had struggled to earn money to raise his family. Those monthly lunches were unforgettable times for both of us. What about you?
