Sixteen years ago, I was in a taxi. We were driving in the right lane when, all of a sudden, a black car jumped out or a parking space right in front of us. My taxi driver slammed on his brakes(刹车) and missed the other car’s back end by just inches!
The driver of the other car, who almost caused a big accident started yelling (喊叫) bad words at us. My taxi driver just smiled and waved (挥手) at the guy. And I mean, he was friendly. So, I said, “Why did you just do that?
This guy almost ruined (损坏) your car and sent us to the hospital!” And this is when my taxi driver told me what I now call “ The Law of the Garbage(垃圾) Truck,”
Many people are like garbage trucks. They run around full of garbage, full of anger, and full of disappointment. As their garbage becomes more and more, they need a place to dump (倾倒) it. When someone wants to dump on you, don’t take it personally. You just smile, wave, wish them well, and move on. You’ll be hap py with what you did.
I started thinking, how often do I let Garbage Trucks run right over me? And how often do I take their garbage and spread t to other people at work, at home, or on the streets? It was that day I said, “I’m not going to do anymore.”
Li fe’s too short to wake up in the morning with regrets. So, love the people who treat you right. Forget about the ones who don’t.

People need to get moving, according to a new study by the World Health Organization.
According to the study, about 25 percent of adults do not get enough exercise. It hasn’t changed
since 2001. Because of this, about 1.4 billion people are in danger of very terrible diseases such as heart disease and cancer.
People should do at least 150 minutes of “modera te intensity (中等强度)’’ exercise each week such as dancing or swimming. They can also do 75 minutes of “Vigorous intensity” activity, such as running or playing soccer, according to the WHO.
About how to exercise more, experts suggest we don’t have to go to the gym (健身房) every time. For example, we can go up and down stairs a lot. If we can’t go to a dancing class each week, standing on one leg for 30 seconds a day is very good, too.
The study also found that , around the world, 32 percent of women fail (不能) to exercise enough and 23 percent of men don’t exercise enough. Women prefer to spend more time at home taking care of children and doing housework, Time magazine reported.
Countries with higher incomes(收入) showed less activity. For example, people in Kuwait and the United States exercise less than people in Uganda and Nepal. This is because in developed countries, desk jobs have taken the place of physical labor (体力劳动).
In the study, China is listed as a middle-income county. The study says that 14 percent of Chinese adults don’t exercise enough, much lower than other middle-income countries. What is different from most other countries is that men are less active than women in China, with 16.6 percent of men and 12 percent of women not getting enough exercise.
51. From the new study, we learn that ________.
A. more and more adults have exercised a lot these years.
B. about a quarter of adults exercise enough in the world.
C. many people have diseases because they don’t exercise enough.
52. What does the underlined word mean in the passage?
A. 低等强度
B. 中等强度
C.高等强度
53. In the last paragraph, we know that ________.
A. women are more active in doing exercise than men in China.
B. women do more exercise than men in most other middle-income countries.
C. the adults in China who exercise enough are the fewest in middle-income countries.
54. According to the passage, which of the following is TURE?
A. In developing countries, people exercise less.
B. Going up and down stairs a lot also helps to get enough exercise.
C. The study shows that women exercise more than men around the world.
55. What’s the purpose of the writer?
A. To introduce a new study about how to exercise to us.
B. To show different exercise habits in different countries.
C. To tell us the importance of exercise by showing a study.

(5小题,计10分) You frown (皱眉) when you are angry or upset. Your parents pat(轻拍)your head to show their love. Some players like to throw their arms forward. It seems they’re flying, after they score. Body language is everywhere. How important is it?
Body language does not use words. It is communication with the movement or position(位置) of your body. The way you stand, a hand gesture are examples of body language. And it also includes facial expressions.
According to American scientist Edward T. Hall, in a conversation between two people, 65 percent of communication is body language. In some cases you can even express yourself without any words at all. For example, your friend asks you to come on a picnic with him; you give him an “OK”, gesture to say: “Yes, sounds good!” Sometimes, your words say one thing but your body language says another. You may touch your face unconsciously (无意识地) while telling a lie.
In different cultures, the same body language may mean different things, In the US, eye communication during a conversation means you are interested in what the other person is saying. But in some Asian countries, it is impolite to look straight at a person when you are talking to him or her.
People in some countries use different body language to show the same meaning. In France, people kiss cheeks (脸额) to say hello. The Japanese prefer to bow and Maoris in New Zealand touch noses when greeting. 60. What is body language?
