A timeline of air disasters
March 11, 2019: An Ethiopian Airlines flight Boeing 737 from Addis Ababa to Nairobi, Kenya,
crashed soon after taking off on Sunday morning, killing all 157 people on board, including 8 Chinese.
May 18, 2018: A plane, rented by local company Cubana de Aviacion from the Mexican airline
Damojh, crashed shortly after taking off from Havana's Jose Marti International Airport. A total of 114
people were on board, among whom two women survived.
November 5, 2017: a Czech-built Let 410 belonging to Khabarovsk Avia crashed on landing at
Nelkan in the Russian Far East with the loss of six lives. A four-year-old girl was the only survivor.
May 18, 2016: Egypt Air Flight MS804 Crashes into Mediterranean Sea, causing 57 deaths,
including one child and two babies.
March 24, 2015: Germanwings Flight 9525 with 150 passengers and crew crashed in the French
Alps on the way from Barcelona to the German city of Duesseldorf. All on board were killed.
March 8, 2014: Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 disappeared less than an hour after takeoff. The plane
was traveling from Kuala Lumpur International Airport to Beijing. It vanished over the Indian Ocean with
239 passengers and crewmembers on board.
November 17, 2013: Tatarstan Airlines Boeing 737 crashes on landing in Kazan, Russia, killing all
50 people on board.
April 20, 2012: A Bhoja Air Boeing 737 crashes on its approach to the main airport in the Pakistani
capital Islamabad, killing all 121 passengers and six crew.
January 9, 2011: An IranAir Boeing 727 breaks into pieces near the city of Orumiyeh, killing 72 on
the scene and injuring 33, five of whom died later in hospital. The pilots had reported a technical failure
