课时作业1FriendshipⅠ.阅读理解AThe man who invented the World Wide Web 30 years ago is calling for major changes to make it better for human beings. In an open letter published on Tuesday, Berners-Lee noted that 30 years after its invention, the web is used by half of the world's population.Berners-Lee said the web had clearly created great opportunities for humans to progress and had made life easier for millions of people. It has also given groups traditionally not heard a new voice in society. However, he added that the web had also provided new ways for cheats to mit crimes and given a voice to those who spread hate. “Against the background of news stories about how the web is misused, it's understandable that many people feel afraid and unsure if the web is really a force for good,” he wrote.Berners-Lee created a group called the World Wide Web Foundation. It encourages governments, panies and citizens to get more involved in shaping the web to do more good for humans. His actual plan is called the “Contract (契约) for the Web”.Under this contract, governments are called on to take steps to make sure all citizens can connect to the Internet and that people's privacy is well protected. Businesses are asked to keep net costs low so that many people can use the web. In addition, panies should respect privacy and develop technologies that aim to put people first. The plan also calls on citizens to create materials for the web and work with others to make sure there is rich and high-quality information for everyone. In addition, citizens should seek to build strong munities that respect civil discourse (话语) and human dignity. “The path to making the Internet better is the responsibility of everyone who uses it,” Berners-Lee said. “Making big changes will not be easy, but willbe very well worth it in the end,” he added.本文是一篇夹叙夹议文。
Unit 1 Friendship课时作业Ⅰ.阅读理解Your kids learn a lot from their friends—things you can't teach them,no matter how much you want to.Probably the most important thing kids learn is how to have peer relationships. As a parent, you can't do this, because you and your child aren't equals. For example, when you're sitting on your family room floor and your very young child asks you to pass him the blocks, you probably hand them right over.If your child is sitting with a peer and asks the same thing, though,he might not get what he wants. To succeed, your child will need to learn strategies for getting what he wants. For example,he might simply yank(猛拉)the toy out of his friend's hand.If he does that,he may learn that it's not the best way of getting what he wants because it leads to fighting and time-outs.The successful child will learn that he needs to negotiate a trade,to wait patiently,or to find something else equally fun to play with.Friends also provide emotional support, something that is part of the foundation of healthy adulthood. You can't be with your child on the elementary school playground or at the high school dance.Your child's friends will be the ones to stick_up_for her,to include her in games, and later,to tell her she looks great even if her lousy prom(糟糕的舞会)date wanders off instead of dancing with her.Friends also help your children learn.Friends solve problems together, imitate each other, and pass on knowledge. Some experts believe that the single biggest predictor of your child's success later in life is her ability to make friends. In fact, they claim it's even more important than IQ and grades. This doesn't mean that the kids who are most popular in school do the best later on in life. What matters is not the number of friends a child has but rather the quality of the relationships. This is good news for those of us who hate to think that popularity really is the Holy Grail of childhood and adolescence. While it's true that popularity has many advantages, and that many popular kids really are nice people—and not just the best dressed or best looking—it's better to have a few good friends than to have the admiration of the masses.【语篇解读】本文是一篇议论文。

Unit 1 FriendshipⅠ.阅读理解A(2017·广州综合测试二)Matureage university students are annoying, I know. I understand that when you're 18 or 19, and already know everything, there's no need to do the readings or show up prepared for class. I also understand that there are these old people in class who should be doing other things—maybe retiring, or gardening in the backyard. They are eagerly asking questions (or worse, answering them) and generally loud.I understand because I used to be one of them. I dropped out of high school in Year 11 and after playing guitar in a band for a few years, I spent the next ten years working different jobs. Then a friend, who thought I was wasting my life, suggested I enrol at his university. Although afraid, I eventually took a university preparation course and a year later became a 35yearold university freshman.Like many matureage students, after completing my degree, I continued studying and eventually attained my PhD.Now I'm a lecturer at Toronto University in Canada. In fact, I have just finished preparing a group of matureage students to annoy next year's young first years. My students come from many different backgrounds. But they all share an enthusiasm for knowledge and learning.I know they are ridiculous and show up to class with folders full of readings, minds overflowing with ideas and concepts they want to discuss. I was the same. But, contrary to the stereotype of the annoying matureage students occupying the airtime in class, most don't want to control the discussion. They're likely to be waiting, counting away the seconds silently in the hope that someone will want to talk about all of these amazing ideas we're learning about. Only after waiting for younger voices to speak (but which often remain silent) do they begin talking.Speaking for myself, I love students who come prepared and ready to discuss stuff. So let's celebrate all of those “annoying〞matureage students.【文章大意】本文是一篇记叙文。
