Unit Four一、Analyzing teaching material1. Analysis of the syllabus and the teaching materialAccording to the basic requirement of English curriculum teaching in higher vocational education and our college-running conception, we made the syllabus “practice as a center and application as a goal”, which stands out the importance of training students’ practical ability of applying English. We chose <New Practical English> as our teaching material, because it’s helpful to improve the students listening, speaking, reading and writing skills.2. Status and functionMaking reservations that I am going to talk about in Unit Four, Part One is focused on the topic of making reservations in the hotel. This topic is quite useful for the students, no matter what job they will work at and it forms a connecting link between the preceding and the following units. In this part, some dialogues introduce the key vocabulary and sentences about making reservations in the hotel and the activities can improve the students listening and speaking abilities. TBLT can stimulate Ss’ initiative in learning and develop their ability in language application.
