我们将学习定语从句的结构:先行词(n./pron.)+(关系代词/关系副词+其他成分)定语从句Learning Activities :知识储备:仔细下列观察下面的句子,看看有什么区别,试着总结定语从句的定义。

1.This is a book. The book is interesting.This is a book that/which is interesting.2. She is a girl. The girl is beautiful.She is a girl who is beautiful .3. I like music. I can dance to the music.I like music that I can dance to .定语从句定义:先行词:关系词:知识梳理:关系词的选择主要取决于两个因素:1、先行词是什么;2、先行词在定语从句中作什么成分。

1.who 指人,在定语从句中作主语。

例如:The person broke the window must pay for it.The boy is wearing the black jacket is very clever.2.whom指人,在定语从句中作宾语。

例如:Do you know the young man we met at the gate?Mr. Lee you want to see has come.3. whose 指人,在定语从句中作定语。

例如:The girl mother is ill is staying at home today.I know the boy father is a professor.4. which指物,在定语从中作主语或宾语。

例如:A dictionary is a book gives the meaning of words.Here is the book the teacher mentioned yesterday.5. that多指物,有时也指人,在定语从句中作主语或宾语。

例如:I’ve read the newspaper carries the important news.Who is the person is reading the newspaper over there?具体使用时还要注意下列问题:1. 只能使用that,不用which 的情况:(1) 先行词为all,everything,anything,nothing,few,little,much,any,the one等时。

All he said is true.(2) 先行词被only, no, any, all, the very, the same等词修饰时。

He is the only foreigne has been to that place.(3) 先行词是序数词或被序数词修饰的词。

He was the second person told me the secret.(4) 先行词是形容词最高级或被形容词最高级修饰的词。

This is the best book I have read this year.(5) 先行词既包括人又包括物时。

例如:He talked about the people and the things he remembered.(6) 以who,which引出的特殊疑问句中含有定语从句.Which is the pen you are looking for?2. 只能用which,不用that 的情况:(1) 在非限制性定语从中。

例如:The meeting was put off, was exactly what we wanted.(2) 定语从句由介词+关系代词引导,先行词是物时。

例如:The thing about he is talking is of great importance.(3)that本身就是现行词。

这里会用到关系代词who,that 的用法:人(n./pron.)+ who +从句(who在从句中作主语);物(n. /pron.)+ that + 从句(that 在从句中作主语或宾语)。
