英语否定转移翻译ppt课件

在英语中，把否定词或否定成分从其原来应在的位置转移至句子的谓语动词前，这就是 “否定转移”。它通常有这样两种情况：
主句的谓语动gine，expect，fancy等表示‘认为’, ‘猜想’的动词时，其后宾语从句中的否定词 not应该移至主句中
He didn’t go to school by bus．(=He goes to school not by bus．) 他不是乘公交车去上学．
Rome was not built in a day.(=Rome was built not in a day．) 罗马并非一日建成．
六、暗含否定(Implied Negation)
从前线回来的人说起白求恩,没有一个不佩服，没有一个不为他的精神所感动．
Before Iiberation he was a cart—driver who could hardIy keep body and soul together，let alone support his family．
三、双重否定(Double Negation)
否定之否定。实际上是肯定。但其语气较强。无论该否定是形式上的还是意义上的，在翻译时，应根据句子语气翻译成肯定句或双重否定句．
I wouldn’t be saying this unless I were sure of the facts．要是我对这些事情没有把握，我就不说这话了。
解放前，他是个赶大车的，连自己的生活都难以维持，更不用说养家了．
At that time we didn’t have computers，to say nothing of e-mail and Internet．
那时，我们连电脑都没有，更不用说电子邮件和因特网了。

正反翻译法

5. 形式否定
有的英语句子在形式上是否定的，而在意义上却并不表示否定，
译成汉语时，可译为肯定句。
例1．Not until the invention of the high altitude rocket did the direct study of the upper atmosphere become possible. 直到发明高空火箭后，才有可能直接研究上层大气。
这些金属的导电率都不及铜高。
Neither of the books is of any use to me. 两本书中哪本对我也没用。 Neither a positive charge, nor a negative the neutron has. 中子既不带正电荷，也不带负电荷。

4、双重否定
双重否定是一种注重修辞作用的语法结构，也就是两个否定意义的词在同一个句子里出现而构成双重否定的语言现象，即否
定之否定。双重否定将整个句子变成了强势的肯定。在翻译时，
既可译成双重否定，也可译成肯定。
例1．If it were not enough acceleration, the earth satellite would not get into space. 要是没有足够的加速度，地球卫星是不能进入太空的。

一、英语肯定、汉语否定
形式上，英语采用肯定句式，但实际在含蓄表达否定意义，翻译成汉语时用否定。（1）动词英语中含有否定的动词有：fail, miss, lack, ignore, escape, refuse, withhold, neglect, deny, overlook, exclude, differ, forbid, defy, hate, etc.. 动词词组：keep… from…, refrain…from… Eg. To our disappointment, he failed to take the overall situation into account. 使我们失望的是他不顾大局。
He was deaf to all advice.
他不听一切劝告。 I am glad to see you safe and sound. 我很高兴看到你安然无恙。 He would be the last man to say such
things. 他决不会说这种话。
She went to the airport to meet her friend, but she missed her in the crowd.

3）否定谓语-否定主语（通常指英语中含有部分否定的句子）
Every man cannot be a writer. 不是所有人都能成为作家。
4）否定谓语-否定状语
I didn’t do it for myself. 我这样做可不是为了自己。
5）否定谓语-否定宾语从句的谓语
一些动词如think, believe, suppose, anticipate, guess, imagine, reckon, fancy表达意念或判断等情态意义，其后面的宾从若有否定义，否定成分往往转移到表达情态的动词上。所以，译成汉语时，可以将否定成分转会的到宾从对应的表达里。
• 例如：
无风不起浪。
请勿吸烟。
你这样说毫无道理。
• 英语表达否定概念主要采用两种手段： • 1）词汇手段:英语中表示否定的词汇比汉语丰富。
• a. 副词：not, none, never, no, nor, neither, hardly, narrowly, seldom, neither…nor, nowhere, etc.
3.8 信息焦点
• 在表达信息时，通常要根据信息的新旧程度给它在句子里安排合适的位置，常见的做法
是按从已知到新的顺序来铺排。所以一个句
子里越靠近句末的成分表达的信息内容越新。
出于语句末尾的成分通常被称为句尾焦点（end focus），也称作无标记焦点。如果新信息没有按常态放在句末，我们就称之为有标记的焦点信息。

• 英语中否定词no和never比not的否定语气更强烈，译文中英恰当表现出这层语用意义。例如：
He is not a gentlemen. 他不是高贵之人。

汉语的否定词比英语少得多，在表达否定意义时，汉语没有严格意义上的形态变化，表达形式比较简单，易于辨认，几乎所有表达否定意义的词语中都含有明显的标志性否定词，以副词居多，个别形容词或少数动词，如“不、没、没有、未、无、非、否、别、莫、勿、毋、休、失、免、缺、禁、忌、戒、防”等。

表达转换译法亦称“正说反译法”、“正反译法”、“反正、正反表达法”，即以“正”译“反” 或以“反”译“正”来表达原语的内容。由于民族、文化、思维方式、语言表达等众多方面的差异，一种语言用正面讲的话，另一种语言无法直白原语的内容，为求语用、修辞相当、或出于语言习惯要用相反的方式表达出来，用否定的说法来表达原语肯定的形式，或以肯定的说法来表达原语否定的形式。

从以上例子可以看出正反译法是一个很有用的翻译技巧，虽然说法变了，意思还是原来的。之所以要改变，主要是由于词语之间的关系、句式的变化、习惯表达等方面的因素。如不改变，照字面译，译文就会显得单调、别扭、不自然，有时还不好懂、不明白。正反译法涉及到词、短语、甚至整个句子的处理问题，用得恰到好处，常会“绝处逢生”，有助于获得自然理想的、符合逻辑习惯的汉语译文，“正话反说，反话正说” 是提高译文水平的有效方法之一。

在表达否定概念方面，英语与汉语在表达方式和句法形式上有很大差异。 1）就表达形式而言，汉语主要使用词汇手段，英语则词汇手段和句法手段并用。 2）从否定结构的形式上看，英语要比汉语丰富、复杂。 3）英语中还有否定焦点转移现象，形式上否定词否定句中的某一成分，实际上否定的却是另一成分。 4）英汉语在叙述同一事物或表达同一思想时，英语可能习惯从肯定角度说（即正说），而汉语习惯从否定角度说（即反说）。这些差异给英汉语转换带来一些问题。
• 翻译时注意区分全部否定和部分否定： • None of the answers are right. 所有的答案都不正确。（全部） • All the answers are not right. 不是所有的答案都正确。（部分）

• （3）“几乎”否定 • “几乎”否定表示整个句子的意思接近于否定。常用的词有little, few, barely, hardly, rarely, scarcely, seldom等，一般译成“很少…,几乎…,几乎没有…,简直不…”等，如： • A. This problem has been little studied. 这个问题几乎没人研究过。 • B. Scarcely anybody believes that. 几乎没人相信这件事。
• 2)采用句法手段：比如运用一些固定结构或固定句型，如more…than, would rather…than, too…to, etc.

• 反说是指使用not, no, never,“不”、“无”、 “否”、“勿”或带有non-, un-, -less等词缀的词。 • 正说是指句子不含表达否定意义的词汇。 • 英汉互译时，原则上讲，反说最好译为反说，正说最好译成正说。但英汉的表达习惯不同，有时会采用相反的策略。翻译否定句时，有时需进行正反转换，即正说译为反说，或反说译成正说。

一、英语肯定、汉语否定

（5）介词及介词短语
表示否定的介词和介词短语有：beside, against, from, above, below, under, beyond, beneath, without, except, within, instead of, out of, etc..

（6）连词及短语
表示否定意义的常用连词有：before, rather than, unless, too… to…, or, etc..
Eg: I , rather than you, should do the work. 应该做这个工作的应该是我，而不是你。 You ought to know better than to do that sort
Eg: She is above meanness and deceit. 她不至于做卑鄙和欺骗的事情。 He is beyond doubt an enterprising young man. 无疑，他是一位有进取心的青年人。

(2)名词
表示否定的名词有：absence, avoidance, failure, denial, refusal, freedom, loss, lack, ignorance, defiance, embarrassment, etc..
A lack of awareness of cultural differences or local customs can create problems.
不注意文化差异和当地的习俗可能会出问题。
（3）形容词
表达否定意义的形容词及短语：few, little, thin, deaf, absent, awkward, had, blind, dead, last, poor, free from, far from, safe from, short of, ignorant of, safe and sound, etc..
Eg: The explanation is pretty thin. 这种解释理由很不充分。
He was deaf to all advice. 他不听一切劝告。 I am glad to see you safe and sound. 我很高兴看到你安然无恙。 He would be the last man to say such
things. 他决不会说这种话。
（4）副词
常见的否定副词有：little, seldom, hardly, barely, scarcely, otherwise, rarely ,etc..
Eg: The old lady said idly, “Well, what dose it matter?”
Eg. To our disappointment, he failed to take the overall situation into account.
使我们失望的是他不顾大局。
He ran his eyes over the refreshments on the table but shook his head and refused to touch anything.
