English Literature Reading Practice Report. The purpose of this report is to provide an overview of my English literature reading practice and to reflect onthe progress I have made. As part of my English program, I have been assigned to read a number of classic works of English literature. These works include novels, plays, and poems, and they span a wide range of genres and time periods. At the beginning of this practice, I was a relatively inexperienced reader of English literature. I had read afew classic works in high school, but I had not developed a deep understanding of the nuances of the language or the cultural context in which these works were written. However, through my consistent reading practice, I have made significant progress in my understanding and appreciationof English literature. One of the most important things I have learned is the importance of close reading. When I first started reading these works, I tended to skim the surface, focusing on the plot and the main characters. However, I have since learned that it is essential to pay attention to the details of the text, such as the language, the imagery, and the symbolism. By doing this, I have been able to develop a much deeper understanding of the author's intent and the significance of the work.Another important thing I have learned is the value of context. In order to fully understand a work of literature, it is important to have a basic understanding of the historical and cultural context in which it was written. This can help me to understand the author's purpose, the characters' motivations, and the significance of the events that take place in the story. In addition to the above, I have also learned the importance of critical thinking and analysis. When I read awork of literature, I no longer simply accept the author's point of view. Instead, I question the author's assumptions, I challenge the characters' decisions, and I come to my own conclusions about the meaning of the work. This has helped me to develop a more critical and analytical mind, and it has also helped me to become a more engaged and active reader.Overall, I have made significant progress in my understanding and appreciation of English literature. Ihave learned the importance of close reading, context, and critical thinking. I have also developed a deeper understanding of the nuances of the English language. Through my continued reading practice, I am confident thatI will continue to grow as a reader and as a student of English literature.

Reading a book in its original language is a delightful and rewarding experience. Recently, I had the pleasure of reading "Pride and Prejudice" by Jane Austen, and it left a deep impression on me."Pride and Prejudice" is a classic novel that explores themes of love, social class, and marriage in 19th-century England. The story follows the Bennet family, particularly the second eldest daughter Elizabeth, as she navigates the complexities of society and her own personal biases. One of the most striking aspects of reading the original version of the book was the language. Austen's use of the English language is beautiful and eloquent. It took me some time to get used to the language of the era, but once I did, I found it captivating and charming. The intricate descriptions and witty dialogues transported me to a different time and place. I particularly enjoyed reading the conversations between Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth, filled with subtle social commentary and hidden meanings. Moreover, reading the original version revealed nuances that might get lost in translation. The subtle wordplay, double entendres, and social satire were much more pronounced in the English text. This added layer of depth made me appreciate Austen's writing even more. It made me realize the importance of reading books in their original language to fully grasp the author's intended meaning.Aside from the linguistic aspects, "Pride and Prejudice" offered valuable insights into society and human nature. Austen's portrayalof the social hierarchy and the role of women in that era was thought-provoking. It made me reflect on the progress we have made as a society and the stereotypes that still persist.Furthermore, the characters in the novel were well-developed and relatable. Elizabeth Bennet's independent spirit and refusal to conform to societal expectations resonated with me. Her journey of self-discovery and overcoming prejudice made her a compelling protagonist. The portrayal of love and relationships in the book also felt realistic. It reminded me that love is not always straightforward and that it involves sacrifices and compromises.Reading the original version also allowed me to appreciate Austen's storytelling techniques. The novel is structured in a way that keeps the readers engaged, with unexpected twists and turns. Austen's ability to create tension and anticipation through her prose is commendable. It made me realize why "Pride and Prejudice" has stood the test of time and continues to be beloved by readers around the world. In conclusion, reading "Pride and Prejudice" in its original English version was a truly enriching experience. It not only highlighted the beauty of Austen's language but also offered deeper insights into the society and characters she created. It made me appreciate the importance of reading books in their original language to fully immerse oneself in the author's vision. I highly recommend reading books in their original language whenever possible, as it enhances the reading experience and allows for a deeper understanding and appreciation of the author's craft.。

English: Through reading classic English literary works, such as "Pride and Prejudice" by Jane Austen and "Great Expectations" by Charles Dickens, I have gained a deeper understanding of the social and cultural norms of the time period in which they were written. "Pride and Prejudice" allowed me to delve into the intricacies of the British upper class society in the early 19th century, examining issues such as courtship, marriage, and class distinctions. On the other hand, "Great Expectations" provided me with insights into the harsh realities of 19th-century London, exploring themes of poverty, ambition, and redemption. Both novels also highlighted the importance of character development and personal growth, as well as the complexity of human relationships. Overall, reading these English literary classics has not only improved my language skills, but also broadened my perspective on historical, cultural, and societal aspects of the time period they depict.
