钱江时代（垂直院宅）：6幢近100m 高的住宅，800住户。
用200余个两层高的院子叠砌起来，结构如编织竹席，整个连续的立面实际上是一座江南城镇的局部水平切面被直接竖立起来，每一户，无论住在什么高度，都有前院和后院，每个院子都有茂盛的植物；这已经不是普通的住宅设计，而是在召唤一种业已逝去的居住方式，显示一种对土地的眷恋，验证一种理想。
设计师坚持以为，中国的实验建筑活动如果不在城市中最大的建设活动——住宅中展开，那么，它将是自恋而苍白的。
在设计之前，建筑师与开发商沟通了两年。
目的是能对流行的高层集合住宅的设计模式有某种实质性的改变。
由于地块形状特殊，建造一排建筑用地浪费，建造两排则进深不够。
设计者提出了大进深高层院落的设想。
由于在房产销售中，这种院落很难计入销售面积，开发商决定以赠送院落的方式实施，是颇有勇气的。
由于采用两层高重叠院落的特殊设计，原始方案的户型80%均为跃层，但最终开发商从可售面积的

VERTICAL COURTYARD APARTMENTS, HANGZHOU, CHINA, 2007
There are six nearly-100-merter high buildings, 800 residents in all. Laid more than 200 courtyards that are as high as two grounds, the structure is like a bamboo mat. The series elevation looks as if it was a vertically laid parts of the south-China towns. Every resident, no matter on which height, will have the chance to enjoy a frond or back courtyard and the flourishing plants. It is no longer common residential design, but to recall a way of living that has already disappeared. It represents a feeling of attachment to the land and proves an ideology. The designer insists that if the experimental architecture in China is not practiced in the most massive architectural activity in China, namely large residential complex, the result will be narcissist and pale.
Before the design, the architect had communicated with the developer for two years in order to make some essential changes to the popular high-rise collective residential building mode. Since □

角度出发，只保留了约10%的跃层户型，这造成每两层的二层住户阳光射入量不够，建筑师不得不调整设计，基本取消了南向院落，但北向院落全部被保留下来。
最终，院落中植树的土池也被全部实现。
