1.INTRODUCTION
This document describes how to install the DNA OA ALP software to toWindows XP
Professional,Windows 2000 Server, Windows 2003 Serveror Linux node.
Instructions specific to Linux are marked as such.
1.1 Requirements for ALP installation
A certain amount of Windows/Linux knowledge is required for the successful installation. The
following informationmust be available before a new ALP installation.
•Passwordsfor Administrator and dna users.
•Contents for Program Starter’s sys-file. These must available from the metsoDNA system
specification.
XD_HW_MCAST
The DNA network software uses the ethernet multicast sending. A multicast address is
defined in the RTS node and it provides a virtual bus segment for up to 50 metsoDNA
nodes. An example: 224.0.171.25
XD_HW_TOKEN
A unique number 1-50 in the virtual bus segment.
XD_HW_ADDR
A unique system wide address, given as a 16 bit hex number e.g 41c1.
XD_HW_BUS, XD_HW_BOND, XD_HW_SWITCH
These network configuration parameters are the same within the virtual bus.
•Contents forA1A1.cpu
ALP node name
This is defined in the metsoDNA system specification, e.g.A1A1.
ALP license
See chapter2.3 Licenses. The licenses can be ordered from the logistics.
Configuration packets
Application packet names for the ALP node. Also the modules for the packets must be
configured.METSO AUTOMATION INC.Installation GuidePage 3 of 10

1.2 Security related settings
If the node ishardened according to the metsoDNA instructions, the following security settings
should be changed.
1.2.1Required privileges
WINDOWS: The user group where the dna user belongs (Power Users), must be granted the
privilege "Increase scheduling priority". See details from “Installation Guide for
metsoDNA.htm”.
LINUX: the above requirement does not apply. After installing the Linux node from CD, the
