Lesson Plan PresentationStudents: Grade 7, JuniorContents:Go for it 7A Unit 10 Can you play the guitar?Lesson Type:Listening and SpeakingGood morning, everyone. I’m Liang Yan from No.12 Middle School. I’m very glad to share my lesson plan with you. The lesson I’m going to talk about today is from Go For It, Book 7A, Unit 10 Can you play the guitar? Period 1,Listening and Speaking. I’d like to explain it from these five aspects. (slide)Ⅰ. Analysis of teaching material and learning condition First, I’d like to analyze the teaching material and learning condition. The material of this lesson mainly aims to train students’listening and speaking ability to talk about things they can do. The topic of this lesson isjoin a club. Since there are no clubs in our school. this topic is unfamiliar tothe students in my class. Therefore, I use the information technology editinga video of news and create a teaching situation.Ⅱ. Learning objectivesAccording to the above analysis, I set the following learning objectives.First, linguistic knowledgeBy the end of the class, students will be able to use the following words and expressions. (slide)Next, language skillsStudents can ask and answer questions about abilities and clubs. This is alsothe learning focus of this class. Then, affectIn this class, students will build more self-confidence while talking about their abilities and understand that we need to work hard to improve our abilities. As for culture awareness,Students will know about clubsFinally, learning strategy,In this class, students will improve their ability of cooperative learning. This is the language focus (slide)and these are the anticipated difficulties:My students may find it difficult to make a personalized conversation and catch the listening material. These are the possible ways to solve the difficulty.1.increase students’ talking time2.Learning by doing: practice speaking after the model.3. predict possible content before listeningⅢ. Teaching procedureTo achieve the above objectives, I will adopt process approach for listening and speaking in this class. I will use PPT documents as my teaching aids. These are my teaching procedures.Let’s have a look step by step.Step1. Warming-upTo warm up, we will talk about sports. With a ping-pong bat and a ping-pong ball in my hand. I’ll ask students what I can do using the ball and thebat and lead students to answer with “can”. Then I’ll ask what other sports or things they can do. This is going to activate students’ background information about different kinds of abilities. And I think talking about sportsis a great warming-up activity for Grade-seven students because it is very familiar to them.Step 2. Present new wordsThrough the warming-up activity above, students might have a brief idea of how to talk about abilities. Next, I’ll show students some pictures one by one and present the newwords like swim, speak English, dance, paint, sing, play chess, speak English. To help them pronounce correctly. I’ll make Ss read after me first and then ask and answer in pairs to increase students’ talking time.Step 3. GuessingAfter that, I’ll show students a mind map like this(slide). I’ll let students guess what I can do.If students have some difficulty in guessing, I’ll give them more information and clues. This is going to consolidate the new wordscreate a situation to ask Qs with “can you …“.Next, I’ll show a picture of a signer named Zhang Jie who is very popular among students. I’ll let students guess what he can do. This is easy guessing because the initial letters can be seen. If it is still to difficult for students, I will make students listen to the sound of some instruments. During Guessing, some words are recycled like sing, danc e and some new phrases are presented like play the guitar, play the piano, play the violin, play the drums. By guessing sth.about their favorite singer, s tudents’ interest can be aroused. Learning becomes so interesting.Step 4. ExerciseThen, I’ll let student do 1a. --match the words with the people in the picture. After students finish 1a, we’ll check the answer s first and then draw students’attention to these phrase play chess, play the guitar/violin, and lead studentsto find some rules. Next I’m going to help students talk about picture.By talking, some new words will be taught like join, club, swimming, and student may also get a brief idea about clubsStep 5. Clubs in our schoolSince there are no clubs in our school, a video of news is edited to create a teaching situation. After Ss watch the video, I’ll show the clubs to review the new words and ask students talk about clubs they want to join and the reasons. To involve Ss practice more, I’ll get Ss ask and answer in pairs.Step 6. Pre-ListeningNext I will show Lucy and John’ picture and some descriptions about them. I will ask students to read the descriptions and then predict what club Lucy and John will join and tell the reasons. Predicting is a useful strategy in listening and it can help students listen better.Step 7. ListeningAfter doing the above work, it is time for students to do some listening. But I don’t think 2b in the textbook is an effective listening practice because it’s so easy that Ss can do it even without listening. So I record a dialogue between Lucy and John. This dialogue not only focus on what we’ve learned in this class. It also offers a nice model for pair-work. After listening, I will firstly check the answers. And then ask Ss to talk about Lucy and John according to this chart.Step 8. Pair workTo use the new words and the expressions in a real-life dialogue, I’ll createanother situation, two students are waiting to join the clubs.I’ll show them thismodel structure (slide). And then ask students to make their personalized conversations. After enough time preparation, I ‘ll ask several pairs to act out their conversations.Step 9. Pair workNext, I’ll ask students work in group of four and tell their group members what they can do. They can choose the one who has the most talents and make a report like this (slide).5minutes’ later,I’ll ask several groups to make a report. This checks how well students can do. Also, It makes students know about their classmates better. Then, I will ask my students to do one of homework to consolidate what they have learned in time. Finally, this is the blackboard design (slide).Ⅳ. After class reflectionTo sum up, I’ll adopt students-centered principle in this class and carry out a variety of activities to involve and attract most students to participate. During the process of learning, I’m a guide. I’l l try to help my students learn effectively and efficiently. Students will be the real communicator in learning and using the language. That’s all for my presentation. Thanks for your attention!Blackboard design。
