A Teaching Plan for Unit 2: Healthy eatingI.Analysis of the teaching contents1.status, functions and charactersHealthy eating is the second unit in Book 3 of senior middle school, the People’s Education Press. It is a multi-purpo se text which aims at developing students’ integrated skills. This unit’s grammar focus is modal verbs. So the teach er’s most important job is to guide the students of self-learning. Students have already learned some knowledgeabout model verbs. It only needs a more detailed compare between these model verbs. An exercise after the reading will be a good way.Ⅳ. They have the advantage of being great mimics, are often energetic and are usually prepared to enjoy the activities the teacher has prepared for them. On the other hand, they will not respond well to an activity that they perceive as childish, or well below their intellectual level. They are easily lose confidence in the face of difficulties. Therefore the teaching activities should be within their abilities and developmental stage but at the same time sufficiently stimulating for them to feel satisfied with their work.The theoretical basis guiding this teaching design is the theory of multiple intelligence and task-based teaching. By full use of a multiple-media computer, I set up varied scenes to involve my students in lively and interesting situations and activate the teaching content. I try to invent something new to enliven every class for my students, like jokes, songs, stories, games and so on. I assign students different tasks at different stages so they can acquire and learn English by meaningful and communicative activities. Greet the class.
Step 2 Lead-in
Say: Sorry, I’m in such a hurry. I did lots of chores
at home.(Why?) Let me show you a picture, then you’ll
understand. Show the picture, and say: This is my daughter’
room. (lots of things are all on the floor: toy bears, clothes,
rubbish and books) You know, when I open the door, I couldn’t
believe my eyes! So What do you think of this room? Ss describe
the room. Then list the chores did at home.
Step 3 Free talk.
Show the pictures of chores. Ask Ss: Do you do these chores at
home? Invite Ss to introduce the chores they do at home.
Step 4 Listening (1b)
Say, You do so many chores at home. But what about Peter?
What chores does Peter do at home? Listen to the tape, check
