Unit 2 Lesson 13
Good morning, everyone!
Today I’m going to talk about lesson 13 of unit 2 Primary English, Book 8
一、Introduce teaching material.
The program stresses communication and conversation. It gives the students many
opportunities to talk in many different conversational situations: student-to- student,
student-to-group, student-to-teacher and student-to-class .The students often role-play
and invent conversation. All this talk develops the skill to communicate real meaning. .
So it is very important to develop their keen interest in English.
Contents
This lesson includes two parts:"Exercise and How many minutes?"In part 1,it mainly deals
with the sentences about “exercise”.And part 2,it mainly deals with the dialogue about
“How many minutes does Danny exercise?”And the answer “About twenty minutes a day ,a
week, a month, a year.
Teaching aims
1. Aims on the knowledge
(1)Make the students understand and speak “What’s exercise? Walking is exercise.”Make
sure that students can use another sentences in real situations .
(2)To help students make some sentences about “exercise.”
(3)Let students understand “How many minutes ?”
2. Aims on the abilities
(1)To develop students’ abilities of listening and speaking.
(2)To train the students’ ability of working in groups.
(3)To foster students’ abilities of communication and their innovation.
3. Aims on the emotion
(1)To foster students’consciousness of good cooperation and proper competition.
(2)To lead students to show themselves.
Key-points of this lesson
1.To help students ask and answer the questions,”What’s exercise?What time is it ?”
2. To enable students to study in groups and cooperate skillfully.
3.To develop students’ interest in English.
Difficult points 1.To help the students ask and answer the question “What time is it ? How many minutes
does Danny exercise?”and make sure they can use the plural nouns correctly.
2. To finish the survey by themselves.
二、Teaching methods
In this lesson I’ll mainly use “task-based” teaching method. I will arrange four kinds
of activities: practice times, do actions, talk about some sentences, make and practice
a dialogue. And in this lesson a recorder.
三、Learning methods
1.To train the students’ ability of working in groups.
2.To foster students’ abilities of communication and their innovation.
3. To help the students play and learn English in class.
四、Teaching procedures
I’ll finish this lesson in three steps.
Step 1 Warm-up and review
1.Play “What time is it ?” to review how to say times.
2.Play “Simon Says” to review actions and phrases such as “ride a bicycle,” “play
ping-pong,” “run,” “jump,”and “walk.” Use some word cards.
Step 2 Key Concepts
1.To help the students understand some words “ minutes, hours, exercise. ”
(1)Demonstrate “ minute” and “hour” with a big clock..
(2)Demonstrate “exercise” with volunteers.
Make the students to do exercises to help some students understand exercise. Use lantern
slide and computer.
2.Review some questions about “How many?”
For example “How many books do you have ?How many pencils does he have ?” Make the students
understand “How many ____?”Then use a big clock to learn “How many minutes?” Make the
students use this clock to practice this sentence in groups.
Step 3 Develop
Make a dialogue to help the students practice “exercise and How many minutes?”And exercise
students’ language.
T: Hello, Mingming, how often do you ride a bike?
S: Hello, Miss Liu, I ride a bike twice a day.
T: How many minutes a day?
S: Twenty minutes a day. T: Good work, Mingming.
Purpose: Practice dialogue is so important that speak English as much as they are in class
or after class. It is necessary for the students to do some extensive exercises after class
to consolidate the knowledge the learned.
