Break the mold
I bought a small box of clay for my sister once. She was about three years old and was particularly keen on it. She squeezed the lump of clay into different forms and kept telling me what they were. "This is a cat, this is a cow, these are my shoes and this is your nose." She pointed to different clods, but only my nose was in the right shape. She made huge progress after that and showed great passion and creation toward this piece of work. After about a month, i bought her another box of clay. This box was bigger and had little tools in it. She loved her tools, especially the molds. She made stars, circles and cuboids with the molds. She made many of them. However, I expected she would come up with something new,but she never tried. "They are not funny at all" she said after a while and then she quitted. I picked up the mold and began to think about the whole process. It looks like those molds restricted her own imagination. And then, I began to think of myself. When I was a little kid, I loved to hang out with my friends. We would go to the wild to explore. We would encounter different situations and would try to fix problems ourselves. We would play hundreds of different games and would try to find out new methods. We would build our imaginary kingdoms and castles and would try to play different roles. Every day, we would imagine, would try, would explore. Then I went to school. Things changed. I seldom had the chance to explore myself, all I had to do was to listen to the teachers and memorizing every single word they said and lastly finishing all assignments they assigned. I became a memorizing machine .Or, in a word,w as fit the exact mold of a model. I never liked that.
I tried to make the mold one time. That was in high school. I loved science classes, but never liked teacher's methods. I believed that science should be found in daily life but not in the endless calculations or exam papers. Then I bought three books. One was named "exploring science" the other two were chemistry and physics for American high school students. Those three fabulous books totally changed my mind toward science. They tried to explain the history of science and to explore science in our daily life. And it also inspired me to think about the world and things that were happening. And I loved them so much.
What i am trying to say is, if you don't like it, just break the mold, what's the use of torturing yourself. Try something new, explore and find out your own method. Be brave! It is time to change.。
