The author who himself was born in a poor family wrote this novel in his twenties with a view to reveal the ugly masks of those cruel criminals and to expose the horror and violence hidden underneath the narrow and dirty streets in London。
The hero of this novel was Oliver Twist, an orphan, who was thrown into a world full of poverty and crime。
He suffered enormous pain, such as hunger, thirst, beating and abuse。
While reading the tragic experiences of the little Oliver, I was shocked by his sufferings。
I felt for the poor boy, but at the same time I detested the evil Fagin and the brutal Bill。
To my relief,as was written in all the best stories, the goodness eventually conquered devil and Oliver lived a happy life in the end。
雾都孤儿英文读后感范文5篇雾都孤儿英文读后感Learn to love and careHere I am sitting on a couch alone, thinking about what I have just finished reading with tears of sadness filling my eyes and fire of indignation filling my heart, which revived my exhausted soul that has already been covered by the cruelty and the selfishness of the secular world for a long time。
It is truly what I felt after reading Oliver Twist, written by the prominent British author Charles Dickens。
The resonance between me and the book makes me feel not only the kindness and the wickedness of all the characters in the novel, but what this aloof society lacks, and what I lack deep inside。
These supreme resourcesI’m talking about right now are somewhat different from minerals, oil that we usually mention。
They’re abstract like feelings, and some kinds of spiritual stimulation that all of us desire anxiously from one another —— love and care。

Although the orphanage took in Oliver, the orphanage was not good enough for the children inside. The children inside were often starving, and only when someone came to check it, did the orphanage do it. Compared with Olivier children now is simply too happy, they do not know the well-being of the world, everyone is the home of the bully, the hands of parents treasure, not getting what you want is crying. The child was crying parents coquetry age, Olivier has tasted the well-being of the world, to learn the independence.Oliver under the coffin shop proprietresss abuse, decided to flee the coffin shop in London alone, in London on the way he met a man, he put Oliver cheat into the thieves, and the leader of a gang of thieves to Oliver training for his work as a thief. But no matter how the thief Gang persuaded Oliver, he just refused to do so, and the thieves tried to force Oliver by hard means, but Oliver was hard and soft, and resisted such dirty behavior from the inside. This is also I admire Olivers point, no matter what his environment, he is not affected by others, and always maintain a pure heart. Whether its the dark, cold orphanage, or just abuse his coffin shop, etc., and later, the evil gang of thieves. He has never hated anyone, nor has he complained about society. The quality of the mud is not worth learning. This books characters in addition to Olivier, a character I also very sympathetic is Nancy, she is a gang of thieves companions, but after reading the whole book only to find that she is really good for a gang of thieves Olivier people. When the gang tried to bully Oliver, she always stepped forward and stopped them. When the gang tried to frame Oliver and let him lose his fathers great fortune, Nancy revealed the news to Olivers aunt, and the plot of the banditgang was not successful. But she has thus provoke fatal disaster. She is a kind person, but she does not deserve the happiness, so she feels sorry for her. After reading this book, I understand the temperature of the world and treasure everything that I have.雾都孤儿英语读后感篇五Oliver Twist is written by Charles Dickens.Charles Dickens is one of the greatest writers in the England. 初二雾都孤儿英语读后感Here's my thoughts on reading "Oliver Twist" as a second grader. The story was so captivating! It took me to London, where the fog seemed to hide all the secrets. Oliver, the little orphan, had such a hard life. But he never gave up, and that made me admire him.The characters were so unique. Fagin, the cunning old man, and Bill Sikes, the scary thug. They were so different from the kind people Oliver met like Mr. Brownlow and Mrs. Maylie. It was like a whole new world! The plot twists and turns kept me on the edge of my seat. I never knew what was going to happen next. Would Oliver find a home? Would he be safe? I couldn't put the book down! The writing style was so vivid. I could almost smellthe fog and feel the cold of the streets. Dickens really brought the story to life.Reading "Oliver Twist" was an adventure. It made me think about how lucky I am and how important it is to help others in need. I definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves a good story!。

雾都孤儿英文读后感(共10篇)第1篇:雾都孤儿英文读后感English Impreions of Oliver TwistAfter reading the introduction of "Oliver Twist ", I know this is another book which describes a person who suffered a lot, then tries his best to confront adversity and succeed finally. After I read it, I searched many things online.I don't know much about Charles Dickens but he is a novelist before. But I find he was one of the greatest critical realist writer of the Victorian Age and strove for detailed realistic and factual description. In addition, capitalism was growing in the age. Moreover, children's literature prevailed in the society, people started paying attention to children's education. In this way, the novel reflects the problems of this age more or le.I have to say there are many problems being exposed in this age.Firstly, vulnerable groups suffered from poverty and were bullied. As a baby Oliver was kept in a room with other orphan babies, allowed to roll on the dirty floor, and never given enough food.Mrs.Mann was responsible for watching over these children, but she was more interested in her pay than in the growth of them.Mr.Bumble, one of the board who in charge of the orphanage should decide they ought to save money by feeding the children le.When Oliver was nine, he was put in a workhouse. He was just nine, but he was forced to work.To my surprise, the two adults for their own interests could ignore that Oliver was just a child and they could make a living in charity.Secondly, child labor is also fully reflected. The workhouse which Oliver worked in hired many kids and didn't give them enough food. These boys suffered from hunger and could often be seen sucking their fingers nervously. As anewcomer, there is no doubt that Oliver was bullied again. The leaders felt dangerous, hence they decided to get rid of him. With Mr.Bumble's threats, Oliver was sent to a coffin-maker's house. But Noah was jealous for Oliver, Mrs.Sowerberry and maid Charlotte also hated him.So the three persons made Oliver escape by every malicious means. What impreed me most is the maid and Noah, I think they are in the same boat with Oliver in some degrees, but they also bully him.Thirdly, juvenile delinquency is also exposed in the story.Fagin, who was a thief and wanted to convert Oliver into a thief.Lots of boys were controlled by him, as well as Oliver.Fagin and Sikes exploited these boys selfishly to earn ill-gotten gains. In my opinion, it reflects the society's indifference. Finally, it also shows the environmental pollution in a way.'Oliver Twist' is translated in an orphan in the city of fog in Chinese. We know London was polluted seriously in the period of the Industrial Revolution and it was called the city of fog.In this novel, it refers to the heavy fog and soot many times. On the other hand, there are also some kind people.Mrs.Maylie, Rose, Brownlow and Losberne all are kind to Oliver.Though they didn't know him at all, they would offer all they can provide for Oliver.Rose and Maylie tried their best to protect Oliver from hurting.Brownlow helped to make the truth come out.Nancy, another kind person in this novel. She saved Oliver at the risk of death, who is different from Monks. It is ironic, Monks who is a half-brother of Oliver wants to kill Oliver for the inheritance, but Nancy who loves Sikes saves Oliver as an exchange of her life.In the end, all the bad people are paid for their sinners. On the contrary, kind people live together happily.Rose and Harry get married though they are unequal in position. To my surprise, there are too manycoincidences.Brownlow is Oliver's grandfather, Rose is his aunt.I think it's extremely idealize and it is not suitable for reality. These are some opinions of mine.第2篇:雾都孤儿英文读后感The author who himself was born in a poor family wrote this novel in histwenties with a view to reveal the ugly masks of those cruel criminals and to expose the horror and violence hidden underneath the narrow and dirty streets in London. The hero of this novel was Oliver Twist, an orphan, who was thrown into a world full of poverty and crime. He suffered enormous pain, such as hunger, thirst, beating and abuse. While reading the tragic experiences of the littleOliver, I was shocked by his sufferings.I felt for the poor boy, but at the same time I detested the evil Fagin and the brutal Bill.To my relief, as was written in all the best stories, the goodne eventually conquered devil and Oliver lived a happy life in the end.One of the plots that attracted me most is that after the theft, little Oliver was allowed to recover in the kind care of Mrs.Maylie and Rose and began a new life.He went for walks with them, or Rose read to him, and he worked hard at his leons. He felt as if he had left behind forever the world of crime and hardship and poverty. How can such a little boy who had already suffered oppreive afflictionremain pure in body and mind? The reason is the nature of goodne.I think it is the most important information implied in the novel by Dickens-he believed that goodne could conquer every difficulty.Although I don’t think goodne is omnipotent, yet I do believe that those who are kind-hearted live more happily than those who are evil-minded.For me, the nature of goodne is oneof the most neceary character for aperson.Goodne is to humans what water is to fish.He who is without goodne is an utterly worthle person. On the contrary, as the famoussaying goes, ‘The fragrance always stays in the hand that gives the rose’, he who is with goodne undoubtedly is a happy and useful person.Peoplereceiving his help are grateful to him and he also gets gratified from what he has done, and thus he can do good to both the people he has helped and himself. To my disappointment, nowadays some people seem to doubt the existence of the goodne in humanity. They look down on people’s honesty and kindne, thinking it foolish of people to be warm-hearted.As a result, they show nosympathy to those who are in trouble and seldom offer to help others. On the other hand, they attach importance to money and benefit. In their opinion, money is the only real object while emotions and morality are nihility. If they cannot get profit from showing their ‘kindne’, they draw back when others are faced with trouble and even hit a man when he is down. They are one of the sorts that I really detest.Francis Bacon said in his eay, ‘Goodne, of all virtues and dignities of the mind, is the greatest, being the character of the Deity, and without it, man is a busy, mischievous, wretched thing, no better than a kind of vermin.’That is to say a person without goodne is destined to lose everything. Therefore, I, a kind person, want to tell those family and enjoyed family love. The story attaches much importance to family love and friendship. However, as a critical realist writer, not only does Dickens make a distinction between justice and evil, such as Oliver and his half-brother Monks, but he also exposes some problems of workhouse, child laborer and organized crime to the public, which deeply appalled me.第4篇:雾都孤儿英文读后感Oliver TwistRecently, I read a book “Oliver Twist” written by Charles Dickens.I feel moved by the complex plot. Now I want to share it with you.Oliver Twist was born in a workhouse in 1830s.His mother was him to ask for some more food after meals, which results the owner wants to sell Oliver at a low price, 5 dollars. One day, a boy speaks ill words about Oliver’s mother. He is so angry that he attacks with Oliver’s mother. When he dies, he leaves Oliver some money. When everything comes to an end, Brownlow adopts Oliver, and they moved to the countryside and live a happy life. From the book , I can draw a conclusion “T he god is fair."We should be grateful to our lives. But in this busy society, we should avoid negative people, places and habits. We are living for not only ourselves but also others. We should be warm-hearted and everyone will be ready to help others for return.Just host on to one’s dream and try to realize it.Concentrate your energy, thought and capital upon your dream.“No prominent British author Charles Dickens. Thus , I spent a month reading it.When I finished this book, I could not calm the mood for a long time. The hero of this novel was Oliver Twist, an orphan, whose mother was died after giving birth to him.So he was thrown into a world full of poverty and crime. He suffered enormous pain, such as hunger, thirst, beating and abuse. While reading the tragic experiences of the little Oliver, I was shocked by his sufferings and felt for the poor boy.In addition , the charitable figures whom Dickens created in the novel are really what we need in life. They showed love and care to others, just as the gentle rain from the sky fell upon the earth, which was carved into my heart deeply.Mr.Brownlow is one such person. He known Oliver Twist by accident, although there were many things happening between them ,dramatically, they came acro each other again a few years later.Without hesitation, he took Oliver home for the second time not caring if he had done something evil. What Mr.Brownlow did taught us a leon , just as the old saying went , “To error is human;to forgive divine.”, Therefore,we ought to give people a second chance no matter what they might have done. That’s also a substantial part of loving and caring others.Mrs.Maylie ,Mi Rose and Nancy are also these kind of people , who are Oliver’s otherbenefactors. In the novel, though the young Oliver again and again fell for conspiracies of those hideous thieves, who tried to torture Oliver’s body and poisoned Oliver’s heart intensely, he always lived on and tried hard to seek for his own life. Then I realized what supported him all through were actually beliefs. In most cases, what you believe is what you’ll become.Believe that you are unlimited, that you can do anything you commit to doing, and when you do, your accomplishments will know no bounds. You control your beliefs and that is how you ultimately control your life. It’s all dictated by your attitude. There is no doubt that we should learn form Oliver , no matter what we meet , we can’t give up.What’s more ,we must believe in that the goodne eventually can conquer devil. All in all , Oliver Twist is well worth reading.第7篇:雾都孤儿英文读后感Book ReportCharles Dickens, Oliver Twist. The People’s Literature Publishing House,1999.Oliver Twist is a story by Charles Dickens that takes place in the away to the streets of London. On the way to London he meets a nice boy named Jack Dawkins, also known as the Dodger. The Dodger gave the poor orphan a place to stay and something to eat and drink.Oliver found out that his new "friends" were thieves and they forcedOliver to help them with a robbery. They were supposed to use Oliver to sneak into a house through a small opening and unlock the front door. The owners were awakened and Oliver got shot.Oliver's partners in crime fled the scene.Oliver told the owners of the house his story and they took him as their own.Oliver grew attached. The family educated him and put him to work a little. At the end of the story an old friend named Mr.Brownlow adopted him.One theme in Oliver Twist is to know your friends better. In this book Oliver met a boy named Jack Dawkins. He seemed like a nice boy and offered Oliver some food and a place to stay.Oliver got to be friends with Jack Dawkins and his friend named Charlie Bates. One day they were "going to work" when all of the sudden Jack and Charlie stole a handkerchief from an old man.The two boys were thieves! They ran away and left Oliver in the alley. When the old man realized that his handkerchief was miing he though Oliver did it.The old man started to chase Oliver and yelled out "Stop thief!Stop thief!" Jack Dawkins and Charlie Bates joined in the chase so that they did not look suspicious. They no sooner heard the cry, and saw Oliver running, than, gueing exactly how the matter stood, they iued forth with great promptitude;and, shouting 'Stop thief!' too, joined in the pursuit like good citizens. If Oliver noticed that the young boys were thieves he would not have been arrested and he would not have eventually been shot in the arm. But, because he was in need of a friend he seemed to over look the fact that the kids were ter in the story Nancy, a prostitute, betrayed her friends and her lover. She tried to warn Oliver's friends of Mr.Monksplans.Bill Sikes her lover and colleague trusted her not to tell what went on inside the house. If he could only tell that she hada change in heart he would not have had to kill her and she wouldn't have been able to tell Oliver's friends Mr.Monks plans and where Bill Sikes. If she didn't tell Oliver's friends where Bill Sikes lived he would not have had the police after him and he would not have accidentally killed himself. So if people just knew their friends better it would have saved many people's lives and the story would have turned out different.Another theme in Oliver Twist is the friendline of strangers.Throughout the story pure strangers were treating Oliver nicely. When Oliver was walking to London a nice boy offered Oliver a place to stay and some foodto eat."I've got to be in London tonight;and I know a 'spectable old gentleman as loves there, wot'll give you lodging for nothink, and never ask for the change-" Even though the nice young man turned out to be a thief and was recruiting Oliver as a pickpocket, he was still being very ter in the story Oliver was forced to rob a house and the owners of the house were woken up during the robbery and Oliver was shot in the arm.The owners of the house listened to Oliver and he told them that he was forced to rob their house and they took him in and cared for him. They nursed him to optimum health and they also educated him and he helped them out by doing errands in return. They also drove Oliver a full days ride to the town where Mr.Brownlow lived just to visit him.Nancy also helped out Oliver and died while in the helping proce. She warned Oliver's friends about Mr.Monks plans and Bill Sikes found out and killed her."It was a ghastly figure to look upon. The murderer staggering backward to the wall, and shutting out the sight with his hand, seized a heavy club and struck her down." Oliver was a very lucky boy to have so many strangers that were willing to help him out.How can such a little boy who had already suffered oppreive affliction remainpure in body and mild? The reason is the nature of goodne.I think it is the most important information imlied in the novel by Dickens. He believed that goodne could conquer every difficulty.I do believe that those who are kind-hearted live more happily than those who are evil-minded.To my disappointment, nowadays some people seem to doubt the existence of the goodne in humanity. They look down on people’s honesty and kindne, thinking it foolish of people to be warm-hearted.As a result, they show no sympathy to those who are in trouble and seldom offer to help others. On the other hand, they attach importance tomoney and benefit. In their opinion, money is the only real object while emotions and morality are nihility. If they cannot get profit from showing their ‘kindne’, they draw back when others are faced with trouble and even hit a man when he is down. They are one of the sorts that I really detest. That is to say a person without goodne is destined to lose everything. Therefore, I, a kind person, want to tell those ‘vermin-to-be’ to learn from the kind Oliver and regain the nature of goodne.Oliver was unlucky in the beginning of the book.Everyone he met was treating him unfairly.People were getting paid to take him away from the orphanage. He also got in trouble for something he didn't even do.But some of the times it all turns out well just like it did for Oliver.Everyone that was mean to him either died or got in trouble. And maybe that is why we say good people always get the best.第8篇:雾都孤儿英文读后感Reading‘Oliver Twist’Oliver Twist, one of the most famous works of Charles Dickens', is a novel reflecting the tragic fact of the life in Britainin 18th century.Oliver himself is born in a workhouse and treated cruelly there as was the norm at the time for pauper children, in particular by Bumble, a parish council official or idle The story follows Oliver as he escapes the workhouse and runs away to London. Here he receives an education in villainy from the criminal gang of Fagin that includes the brutal thief Bill Sikes, the famous artful Dodger and Nancy.Oliver is rescued by the intervention of a benefactorbut the mysterious Monks get the gang to kidnap the boy again.Nancy intervenes but is murdered viciously by Sikes after she has showed some redeeming qualities and has discovered Monk sinister intention. The story closes happily and with justice for Bumble and the cruel Monks who have hidden the truth of Oliver parentage out of malice.Accusations were made that the book glamorized crime(like the agate Group of the period)but Dickens wisely disaociated himself from criminal romances. His achievement was in fact in presenting the underworld and problems of poverty to the well-off in a way rarely attempted previously. The hero of this novel was Oliver Twist, an orphan, who was thrown into a world full of poverty and danger. He suffered enormous pain, such as hunger, thirst, beating and abuse. While reading the tragic experiences of the little Oliver, I was shocked by his sufferings.I felt for the poor boy, but at the same time I detested the evil Fagin and the brutal Bill.To my relief, as was written in all the best stories, the goodne eventually conquered devil and Oliver lived a happy life in the end.One of the plots that attracted me most is that after the theft, little Oliver was allowed to recover in the kind care of Mrs.Maylie and Rose and began a new life.He went for walks with them, or Rose read to him, and he worked hard at his leons. He felt as if he had left behind forever the world of crimeand hardship and poverty. But at last, he lived a happy life, that’s because his nature goodne. The nature of goodne is one of the most neceary characters for a person.Goodne is to humans what water is to fish.He who is without goodne is an utterly worthle person. To my disappointments, nowadays some people seem to doubt the existence of the goodne in humanity. They look down on people's honesty and kindne, thinking it foolish of people to be warm-hearted.As a result, they show no sympathy to those who are in trouble and seldom offer to help others. On the other hand, they attach importance to money and benefit. In their opinion, money is the only real object while emotions and morality are nihility. If they cannot get profit from showing their ‘kindne', they draw back when othersare faced with trouble and even hit a man when he is down. They are one of the sorts that I really detest. What I membered most is that Jesus sai d in the Bible.“Forgive not seven times, but seventy-times seven.” Because forgivene is our ability to remove negative thoughts and neutralize them so our energy may be spent on doing what we came here for.We cannot move forward in our future if past iues cloud our thinking. After reading all the novel, I think we should do like this: if someone loves you, love them back unconditionally, not because they love you, but in some way they are teaching you how to love, but if someone hurts you, forgive him, because he makes you to be careful when you open your heart to others next time.第9篇:雾都孤儿英文读后感Oliver Twist(by Charles Dickens)Oliver Twist, one of the most famous works of Charles Dickens', is a novel Twist Charles Dickens provides insight into the experience of the poor in 1830s England.Beneath the novel’s raucous humor and flights of fancy runs an undertone of bitter criticism of the Victorian middle cla's attitudes toward the poor.Oliver Twist is the leading character who is the victim of the hypocrisy and venality of capitalism and fallen Charitable Institution of 1830s England. There are different opinions among people as to whether human beings are born with goodne or the opposite, sin.According to Charles Dickens, man is born an angel andwhat's more, natural goodne is incorruptible. The Characters of Oliver and Nancy in Oliver Twist are typical examples.First of all, Oliver Twist is incorruptible although trapped in the terrible circumstances. On the one hand, what he did could account for this tip.Oliver is an orphan living in a hypocritical workhouse from his birth.Because he c an’t stand the terrible conditions in the workhouse, he escapes to London where he is trapped by Fagin who tries and teaches him to be a thief.Though treated with cruelty and surrounded by filthine, he is still innocent and gentle. On the other hand, unlike those juvenile delinquents who talk with broken English, Oliver speaks Standard English without being polluted by the coarse surroundings. The character Nancy is another typical example."Remarkably free and agreeable", she is quite contradictory.Nancy is a fallen woman, to be specific, she is a prostitute. At first, when she helps Fagin and recaptures Oliver, I hold the opinion that she and those thieves are birds of a feather. But later I found I was too hasty about rushing to such a conclusion. After Nancy overhears Monks' telling Fagin his plans to destroy Oliver, she gives the secret away to Rose at the cost of her own life.In this novel, her final decision to protect Oliver reminds me of an old saying in ancient China by Mencius: human nature is good, so everyone has compaion and everyone can be emperor Yao and Shun. But how to explain that there are someone "evil", such as Fagin and Monks who tries to kill Oliver and get a large sum of heritage compared with Oliver and Nancy who are born with incorruptible goodne? To this point, the author Charles Dickens has been criticized by many readers.I have researched many materials of Dickens's opinion about man is born with incorruptible goodne or not.To my surprise, he claimed that a corrupt environment is the source of vice. But in this novel,。

雾都孤儿读后感英文版5篇1. "The Orphan of the Fog," a Review on Charles Dickens' "Oliver Twist"As a reader who enjoys classic literature, I picked up Charles Dickens' "Oliver Twist" and was immediately drawn into the setting and characters of Victorian London. Though the story centers around the orphaned protagonist, Oliver, it is the vivid descriptions of the city's dirty alleys and its unsavory inhabitants that truly bring the story to life.Oliver's journey from a workhouse and to a life of crime, only to be redeemed by the kindness of strangers, is a heart-wrenching tale. It is a commentary on the harsh realities of the time, a time where poverty and crime were rampant, and where children could be seen as nothing more than a commodity to be bought and sold.Through this story, Dickens compels readers to see beyond the surface of what they might consider "acceptable" social norms to unveil the corruption and exploitation that exists within. Overall, "Oliver Twist" is a timeless classic that still resonates with readers today, and provides a poignant reminder of the importance of compassion and empathy in our society.2. Reflection on "Oliver Twist" by Charles DickensCharles Dickens' "Oliver Twist" is a compelling story of a young orphan boy who is forced to navigate between different worlds - that of the workhouse, the street gang, and the upper class. Despite the hardships he faces, Oliver remains hopeful and trusting, and itis this resilience that makes him a relatable and endearing character to readers. What struck me the most about this book, however, was Dickens' portrayal of the society at the time. The stark contrast between the extreme poverty of the lower classes and the excessive wealth of the upper classes is a powerful reminder of the injustices that exist in our world, even now.Furthermore, the fact that children like Oliver were treated as inferior and disposable is a sobering thought. Dickens challenges readers to examine their own attitudes towards marginalized groups and to consider their own obligations to help those in need.Overall, "Oliver Twist" is a haunting and thought-provoking book, and one that has left a lasting impression on me. It is a story that reminds us of the power of compassion and empathy, and the importance of standing up for those who are oppressed.3. An Analysis of "Oliver Twist" by Charles DickensCharles Dickens' "Oliver Twist" is a masterpiece of Victorian literature, and a story that remains relevant in our society today. At its core, it is a commentary on the harsh realities of poverty, crime, and exploitation that existed during that time period, and that continue to exist in different forms today. One of the most striking aspects of "Oliver Twist" is the way Dickens introduces us to the various characters and settings with such vivid detail. The city of London is described as a place ofdarkness, grime, and squalor, and the characters living within it are equally gritty and raw. This immersive world-building makes the story all the more engrossing and emotionally impactful.Another notable aspect of the book is its exploration of the theme of identity. Oliver's search for a sense of belonging and purpose is at the heart of the story, and it is a theme that is relevant to people of all ages and backgrounds. Through his journey, we are reminded of the importance of compassion and kindness in the face of adversity, and the inner strength that can be found in moments of struggle. In conclusion, "Oliver Twist" is a classic piece of literature that has stood the test of time, and remains an important commentary on social issues that continue to affect us today.4. A Review of "Oliver Twist" by Charles Dickens"Oliver Twist" by Charles Dickens is a timeless classic that continues to captivate readers with its unforgettable characters and vivid descriptions of Victorian London. The story follows young Oliver, an orphan boy who endures a series of hardships, including poverty, abuse, and exploitation, as he tries to find his place in the world. While the book is often considered a children's story, it is also a profound commentary on the harsh realities of the time, and a call to action for those who have the power to effect change. Dickens' portrayal of the destitute, forgotten segments of society serves as a reminder that people can find strength and hope even in thebleakest of circumstances. What struck me the most about the book is how well-drawn the characters are. From the lovable Oliver to the calculating Fagin, every character feels fully-realized and multi-dimensional. This makes the story all the more immersive, and the emotional impact all the more potent.Overall, "Oliver Twist" is a must-read classic that will touch the hearts of readers of all ages.5. My Personal Response to "Oliver Twist" by Charles DickensReading "Oliver Twist" by Charles Dickens was an emotional rollercoaster for me. From the first chapter, I was struck by the stark contrast between the life of privilege that I lead and the harsh realities that the characters were facing. The descriptions of the workhouse and the criminal underworld made my skin crawl, and I felt a deep sense of anger and sadness at the injustices that were being depicted.Despite the heavy subject matter, however, I found myself utterly invested in Oliver's story. His naive and trusting demeanor made me want to protect him from the cruelty of the world, and I was moved by the kindness that some of the characters showed him. Overall, "Oliver Twist" is a powerful story that has stayed with me long after I finished reading it. It is a reminder of the importance of empathy and compassion, and a call to action to create a more just and equitable society.6. The Theme of Social Injustice in "OliverTwist" by Charles DickensOne of the most prominent themes in "Oliver Twist" by Charles Dickens is social injustice. Throughout the novel, Dickens highlights the stark contrast between the privileged upper class and the impoverished lower class, and the exploitation and abuse that the latter is subjected to.The workhouse system, for example, is portrayed as a cruel and dehumanizing institution that only exacerbates poverty and misery. Similarly, the criminal underworld is shown as a result of desperation and desperation, where children are used as pawns and manipulated by adults.Yet, even in the midst of this darkness, Dickens offers glimpses of hope and humanity. Characters like Nancy, who despite her involvement in crime, still have a sense of morality and compassion. This serves as a reminder that even in the most dire situations, people can still find ways to resist and subvert the oppressive systems that seek to control them.Ultimately, "Oliver Twist" is a powerful condemnation of the systems of oppression that exist in our society, and an urgent call to action to dismantle them.7. The Importance of Character Development in "Oliver Twist" by Charles DickensOne of the most remarkable aspects of "Oliver Twist" by Charles Dickens is the way in which the characters develop and changethroughout the story. Oliver himself is initially portrayed as a helpless victim, but gradually gains agency and ownership over his own life.Other characters, like Fagin and Bill Sikes, remain static and ultimately meet tragic ends as a result of their own flaws and mistakes. Yet, even they are given some measure of complexity and nuance, making them more than mere caricatures of evil.By exploring the inner lives and motivations of his characters, Dickens creates a rich and immersive world that is both compelling and emotionally resonant. This, in turn, allows readers to deeply engage with the themes of the story and ponder their own values and beliefs. In conclusion, the character development in "Oliver Twist" is a testament to Dickens' skill as a writer and his ability to create complex, human characters that resonate with readers long after the book is finished.8. 雾都孤儿作文2Oliver Twist is written by Charles Dickens。
Charles Dickens is one of the greatest writers in the England。
He was born in a poor family, but later he became famous and rich。
The famous novel --A Tale of Two Cities is written by him, too。
This novel shows us the cruelty and crime of London。
Oliver Twist,the hero,is a poor orphan。
He lived in a life filled with taunts。
Nobody loved him。
With visions of his future,he decided to go to London。
He thought a new life was ing,but he was wrong,a group of thieves were waiting for him。
The author created a group of bad men。
Fagin,an old man, with a horribly ugly face and red hair, was the head of those thieves。
He tried to make Oliver be a criminal。
Bill Sikes was a cruel and evil man in the group。
He had a bad temper。
Monks,Olivers brother,did bad things to hurt Oliver。
He wanted to get the legacies left by his father alone。
He paid Fagin to trap Oliver into a life of crime。
In fact, they were all afraid of being put into prison and being hanged。
They cant live happily。
Nancy,a poor girl,loved a bad man。
She had to help Bill Sikes perpetrate, because she loved him。
She had to be loyal to the criminal group, because she loved him。
Actually,she was kind。
She helped Oliver at the risk of her life。
If she hadnt fell in love with Sikes, she would have a happy ending。
The author showed these ugly things to us,he described an ugly world。
But there are more kind people in the novel。
Mr。
Brownlow,an old friend of Olivers father, took good care of Oliver。
Mrs。
Maylie,Harry Maylies mother,saved Oliver of his life。
Miss Rose is the aunt of Oliver,in fact。
They all protect Oliver from hurt。
Oliver was unlucky to meet so many evil people, but he was luckier to get help from so many kind people。
In the end of the novel, all the evil people were punished。
Oliver got what he should get。
Rose married Harry Maylie and they lived happily。
All the kind people have a happy ending。
Righteousness can always beat evil。
I think this is what the author wants to tell。
Although there are many ugly things in the world,we must believe that righteousness can always beat evil。
We must store kindness even though we are in ugly situation。
One is poor if he doesnt have kindness。
One is rich if he has kindness。
So please store your kindness in your mind。
Whats more, the novel also tells us to be brave。
Oliver was brave enough to overe all the problems he had met。
No matter how difficult the problem is,we cant give up,we must try our best to solve it。
