大学英语的收获和感受英文职业技术学院As for English learning, we are no strangers after learning in junior high school and senior high school. Everyone has formed their own learning habits and has their own learning methods suitable for their own learning. Here, I would like to briefly introduce my experience and experience in learning English at the university stage, hoping to help the students.First of all, let me talk about the differences between college study and junior high school study. The study in the university stage is no longer like that in the middle school stage, which relies on Teachers' cramming teaching, and students are completely in a passive position. In the University, the teacher's task is to introduce you. How much you can really learn depends on your own interests and your own efforts. Therefore, it is particularly important and necessary for college students to become the masters of the classroom, control their own learning, and develop a good learning method and habit. At the same time, the establishment of College English is obviously different from high school English. CollegeEnglish offers two courses, one is English reading, writing and translation, and the other is audio-visual speaking. That is to say, College English does not only learn words and grammar knowledge as we do in middle schools. Even college teachers hardly teach grammar knowledge in class. Words are also their own planned memory after class, and there is no restriction; The audio-visual and oral class focuses on English expression ability, and exercises your pronunciation and intonation. Middle school English focuses on reading and writing, while college English focuses on listening and speaking.Secondly, the learning method of university can not be the same as that of middle school. In order to take the exam and constantly engage in naval warfare, college students should have a clear learning goal and thinking.So, how can we learn English well in college? My experience and experience can be summarized as follows:1、 Make full use of teaching materials and do a good job in pre class PreviewTextbooks are carefully compiled by many scholars and expertsafter many years of teaching and exploration. Therefore, we should use the current textbooks in a practical, thorough and precise way. Here, I attach great importance to the use of teaching materials. Preview the text before class. Read through, understand the general meaning, grasp the topic and determine the direction. Word list memory, memory word meaning, memory English explanation, memory word part of speech. Read it through for the second time, and consciously bring the meaning of the word into it to see how much you can strengthen your understanding and strengthen your memory of the word. Read through the passage for the third time, divide the paragraph structure, think about the idea method of the article, and what kind of structure type it conforms to in the English article, summarize and apply it consciously in your future writing.2、 Concentrate and listen carefullyTake every class seriously. Some people say that "students are the masters of the classroom", but I want to say that the classroom is the patron saint of students. In college, you can't devote all your energy to study, take part in activities, deal with some of your daily affairs, or work study, and exercise your overall quality. This requiresus to make effective use of the 50 minutes in this class. Under the guidance of the teacher, you will learn quickly. In addition, you can concentrate and use your brain to think. Generally, after a class, you can review a little after class.3、 Induction and arrangement after classWe often find that some students around us usually don't see him working hard, but he is good at learning. Sometimes we communicate with him, but you find that he has a thorough grasp of some problems. Why? Mainly because he paid attention to the induction after class. Because we follow the teacher's ideas in class, after each class, if you take some time to establish some connections with the teacher's knowledge platform from your own knowledge platform, understand the knowledge you have learned on your own basis, and make it gradually solid and thorough, your learning will be much easier.4、 Good study habits are the key to learning college English wellThe power of habit is great. Sometimes we do something unconsciously, completely unconscious, but of course. It's like wedon't understand some sentences, have a lot of new words, and don't have clear grammar knowledge, but we still get the topic right. Why? Language sense is also a habit. It is suggested that you should immediately formulate a practical learning plan from now on, which will become a habit of you over time, and your English level will naturally improve rapidly in the continuous hard accumulation. For example, keep reading English 40 minutes early every day, and remember a few words in the middle of the day. During the self-study time, summarize the grammar points, vocabulary points and analysis methods you have learned today. Before going to bed at night, you can write another short English essay. It doesn't require high quality, but just apply the knowledge you have learned today. If you are interested, you can do some training on English sentence pattern transformation, voice transformation and phrase substitution. In this way, you can not only quickly improve your English performance, but also cultivate an interest in English. Even later, English will become one of your specialties and an important weight for success in your career based on the society.According to scientific research, people have the best memorybefore they are half hungry and close to sleep, so they should make full use of it. Don't waste time in the morning, noon and evening. To use the scattered time, you don't have to memorize words in blocks. In the future, when we go to social work, we will not have a long time to recite words every day, or even cause a lot of things to be too late to solve. Therefore, during college study, we should form good habits and use our spare time to do things. If you can make full use of your spare time effectively, you can add up and accomplish things you could not achieve before.5、 Having a good learning attitude is the guarantee to improve learning efficiencyA good attitude will make your study life a lot happier and improve your study efficiency at the same time. Learning English, a language discipline, cannot be fast, because language disciplines to a large extent need to have a spirit of water dripping through stone, which must be accumulated gradually. After a semester or a year of accumulation, your grades will gradually have a qualitative leap from quantitative change. Therefore, if you keep your mind right and steady, study calmly and steadily, and enjoy your degree, yourEnglish performance will naturally improve.The above is my experience and learning experience in College English learning. It is only for your reference. I hope it can be helpful to your study. You can selectively absorb it and find out a suitable learning method as soon as possible.对于英语的学习,经历了初中高中的学习,大家都已不陌生,每个人形成了自己的学习习惯,有适合自己学习的学习方法。

Journal of International Education and Development2022, VOL. 6, NO. 10, 85-88DOI: 10.47297/wspiedWSP2516-250015.20220610Research on the Construction of Teaching Resource Library in Higher Education LibrariesLixin WangThe Circulation Department of Library, Taishan University, 271000, Tai'an, Shandong, ChinaABSTRACTWhile providing portable services for teachers and students, theuniversity wisdom library also lays a good foundation for the constructionof the teaching resource library of universities. Through the informationtechnology resource sharing platform, it integrates various types,teaching contents and teaching resources, establishes a more effectiveresource management system, facilitates teachers and students toconduct classification and retrieval, and thus helps universities developthe construction of university teaching resource library with their ownprofessional characteristics. This paper conducts relevant research basedon the construction of teaching resource library in college libraries,hoping to provide relevant suggestions for the development andconstruction of college libraries and promote the better development ofcollege teaching resource library.KEYWORDSUniversity; Library; Teaching Resource Library1 IntroductionWith the continuous construction and development of digital resources in colleges and universities, college libraries gradually provide more convenient services for teaching and learning in colleges and universities, use their own characteristic resources to effectively combine with professional disciplines in colleges and universities, continuously strengthen the construction of various information resource libraries, carry out targeted and personalized services, and meet the information needs of teachers and students in high colleges and universities. In the process of development and construction, many universities provide more specialized literature and data materials for key disciplines and specialties through self-built databases. In response to the information user needs of teachers and students, they provide the most cutting-edge and latest information data in a certain specialty or discipline field, and effectively integrate the data resources according to relevant standards, which greatly improves the retrieval and sharing ability of teaching resources.2 The Value of Teaching Resource Library in UniversitiesWith the continuous development of efficient digital construction, university libraries provide portable help for teachers and students to obtain information resources, but the teaching resource library of related professions is relatively lacking, which still restricts the development of school teaching activities. In the process of development and construction, libraries have accumulated a large number of various information resources with practical value, and effective integration ofLixin Wang 86these information resources can continuously optimize the teaching environment. Making full use of various advantages of university libraries, such as equipment, information, resources and talents, to build a more specialized teaching resource library can give better play to the intelligent service system of university libraries. College teaching resource library refers to the establishment of excellent digital media resource library in accordance with unified standards and technical specifications and following the inner logic of efficient curriculum. All kinds of presentations, lesson plans, exercises, test questions and other materials used by teachers in the daily teaching process can be displayed in the form of documents, and such teaching resources are a valuable asset for colleges and universities. However, in the long-term development and construction, universities lack effective management of such teaching resources or adopt looser management mode, so that teaching resources are only used or managed by teachers personally, which cannot effectively improve the quality of teaching resources and realize the effective sharing of information resources, which is a waste of teaching resources of university teachers. As the collection manager of university materials, the library only provides simple library information lending service, which cannot meet the diversified needs of teachers and students in teaching and learning. By collecting and organizing the teaching resources of university teachers and establishing a scientific and effective teaching resource library, it can ensure the effective improvement of our teaching resources, diversified sharing and extended development, give full play to the resource advantages of university special disciplines, greatly enhance the core competitiveness of university libraries, and also provide better help for the development and construction of university libraries and intelligent services of schools.3 The Development Status of Teaching Resource Library Construction in Colleges and UniversitiesMany colleges and universities have gradually realized the importance of establishing teaching resource libraries in today's continuous development of intelligent services, but there are still many problems in the actual development and construction. When the teaching resource library of undifferentiated colleges and universities is constructed, it lacks certain education. The core of relevant teaching resources is to be able to help teachers and students to provide better teaching services, and the purpose of establishing teaching resource library is also to provide portable help for teachers and students in colleges and universities. Therefore, in the process of building an efficient teaching resource library, the principle of educationality should always be followed so that teaching resources can be used rationally and better reflect the value of the educational subject. Due to the lack of scientific and reasonable planning and design at the early stage of construction, the development of relevant teaching resources is not deep enough, making the form of teaching resources too single, and the construction management of relevant resources is loose, lacking effective resource audit mechanism, which also causes the phenomenon of lack of teaching resources to occur. Due to the lack of effective management, no unified management specification and construction standard are set when teaching resource library construction is carried out, and the definition of relevant professional resource library is not clear enough. Therefore, when auditing the teaching content, the relevant content, technology and standards of teaching resources do not reach the unified specification, which leads to the teaching resource library not being able to provide better services when carrying out the use. The construction of some teaching resource libraries is not sound enough in terms of system and the lack of investment in related funds makes the research and development team of resource libraries lack professional talents and intermediate technical strength. This is due to the lack of effective propaganda and promotion in the scope ofJournal of International Education and Development87colleges and universities, the lack of sufficient awareness of teachers and students about the construction of the resource base, the lack of participation and attention, resulting in the quality of the teaching resource base has been affected to a certain extent.4 Promoting the Construction of Teaching Resources Library in Colleges and UniversitiesThe construction of a teaching resource base in higher education is a more complex project, therefore, when building the resource base, it is necessary to carry out scientific and systematic planning and gradually carry out in-depth construction. The number of specialties involved in the scope of higher education is large and complex, so how can specialized knowledge points be effectively integrated in the database to facilitate the use of teachers. In the process of developing the resource base, it is necessary to make use of the characteristics of integration and interactivity of information data, take the syllabus and the direction of professional development as the basis, make effective classification and search according to various knowledge points, and establish resource bases of different categories according to certain specifications for different levels and teaching needs of different teachers and students.(1) Getting enough supportSince the teaching resource library involves several disciplines and various teaching resources of teachers and students when carrying out construction, it is necessary to seek more support from schools when carrying out the construction of the resource library and collect and organize data resources through top-down organized planning. We need to develop a practical implementation plan, obtain the support of schools, and clarify the importance of related work, and carry out effective division of labor to ensure the smooth development of the repository construction work.(2) Standardizing the format and collection method of teaching resource dataWhen the construction of teaching resource database is carried out, the corresponding data resources need to be effectively organized, so the format and collection method of data resources have an important impact on the final quality of the database. In the process of conducting the collection of teaching resources, uniform standards must be set and collected and organized according to an effective format for easy preservation. The collection of relevant digital resources should also be organized in a certain disciplinary order, from simple to complicated, and in a gradual manner. For the classroom lectures and courseware test questions used by teachers, they can be organized in a certain format, and the relevant classroom videos and videos, etc., can be classified through specialized disciplines or more detailed entries, and imported into the database in batches.(3) Teaching resource management softwareAfter the corresponding teaching resources are collected and organized, they can be managed by professional software to ensure the normal use of services such as uploading, downloading and sharing of data resources. The teaching resource management software should be able to meet the needs of teachers and students for data organization, collection and format conversion, and match with the characteristics of our teaching resource library. This kind of software can be developed by universities or entrusted to professional data development companies to set up, and after sufficient testing and acceptance, ensure that the software can operate normally and provide support forLixin Wang 88follow-up services.(4) Ensuring effective operation and maintenance teamAfter the construction of the teaching resource library is completed, a certain operation and maintenance team is needed to carry out operation and maintenance of the resource library, to carry out daily inspection of the server, and to backup, restore and troubleshoot the data in daily management. It helps students and faculty to collect and organize more data resources, format conversion, and solve various problems in the use. The relevant operation and maintenance team can carry out certain training work for teachers and students to help them better master the operation of data uploading and management, and carry out teaching for the use of database to help teachers and students better master the use of teaching resource library.5 ConclusionIn the construction of professional teaching resource library, college libraries need to pay attention to the standardized construction which is the basis for the sustainable development of college teaching resource library and the realization of effective sharing of information resources. In the process of construction, it is necessary to pay attention to the issue of intellectual property rights and meet the needs of teachers and students for various services, so it is necessary to have a powerful search function. In the construction process, it can make full use of library resources to effectively combine with the specialties of colleges and universities, and effectively integrate the scattered and disorderly teaching resources, so as to effectively provide powerful support for the improvement of teaching quality of colleges and universities.References[1] Xing Chunmei. Unit 1 LifestylesLesson 1 A Perfect Day? 阅读课说课稿Good morning, dear judges. I am contestant No. 6. It’s my great honor to share my teaching with you. Today my teaching topic is “Lesson 1 A Perfect Day?”. I am going to introduce my lesson from the following aspects:1. Analysis of teaching materialsThis lesson is from Senior high school English compulsory 1 of Beijing Normal University Press,unit one, lesson one—A Perfect Day? This lesson is about two different lifestyles—a couch potato and a workaholic. Through the study of this lesson, students can be aware that we should form good habits and healthy lifestyles.2. Analysis of studentsOur students are Senior high school students from the first grade. They are interested in the new topic. After many years of English learning, they’ve known many words, sentences and some skills to solve English problems. But they can’t use it to express themselves and communicate with others fluently. So in this period, I would arrange a variety of activities to help them take part in the class and improve their language using abilities.3. Analysis of teaching aimsBased on the English curriculum standard and the charasteristics of the students, I set the following teaching aims:(1) Knowledge aims:Students can understand the titles a couch potato and a workaholic.They will understand the main idea and some specific points of the passage and grasp the reading strategies of skimming and scanning.(2) Ability aims:Students will express their opinions on different lifestyles under the teacher’s guidance and use different reading strategies to get specific information in a limited time.(3) Emotional aims:Students will enhance their good habits and try to live a banlanced and healthy life.4. Analysis of teaching key points and difficult pointsThe key points are the understanding of the main idea and some specific points of the passage and the master of important reading strategies.The difficult points are how to arouse students’ awareness of forming good habits and living a healthy life and how to enable the students to use different strategies proficiently.5. Analysis of teaching methods and learning methodsTo help students achieve the teaching aims much better and easier,I’ll mainly use “Task-based” and “Communicative” teaching methods. For students, they will be encouraged to study by themselves, and they will learn to communicate with others through pair work and group work, and become the real host of the class.6. Analysis of teaching aidsIn order to catch students’ attention, I prepare multi-media and some video clips, pictures and charts.7. Analysis of teaching proceduresThis is the most important part in this design, and it can be divided into the following steps:Step 1 Warming-up and lead inAt the beginning of class I will greet students as usual, have a short free talk with them and then ask students to sing a song together with me. In this way students will become happy and excited, and their attention will be attracted into class activities and get ready for class. Next I will announce the beginning of class and tell them the new topic Lesson 1 A Perfect Day? And of course I will write the new topic on the blackboard immediately.Step 2 Pre-readingBefore reading I will have a free talk about watching TV with students, and encourage them to make predictions according to the title and pictures in the book. And I will explain some new words like a couchpotato and a workholic. By doing these, students are able to overcome the obstacles of new words in the passage and make the following reading steps go smoothly. Through predictions students can quickly move their attention to the reading part.Step 3 While-readingFor the while-reading. First, students should do fast reading, I will ask them to read the two texts quickly and try to finish the following tasks: 1. Underline the TV programmes that Brian usually watches. 2. Underline the kinds of work that Bob does every day. Three minutes later, I will ask some students to tell me the answers. (Brian usually watches children’s programmes and old movies in the morning. And he watches the news at lunch time. He watches old films in the afternoon. And in the evening he watches TV series or sport and the news again. He also watches plays on BBC2 and more films. Bob is always very busy with meetings and phone calls, and some other urgent matters. And in the evening he has to do some paperwork and answer personal e-mails. And about ten every night he usually looks at the documents that he bring back from the office to get ready for the next day’s work. )For second reading, I will ask students to answer five questions:1.Is Brian a lazy person? Can you find two examples of his lazy behaviour?2.What do you think “You’ve got the world at your feet.”means?3.How does Bob spend his morning and evening?4.Why does Bob’s family complain?5.Why does Bob work so hard?I will give students 8 minutes, and 8 minutes later, I will choose some students to answer my questions one by one.(Yes, Brian is a lazy person. He watches TV 16 or 17 hours a day. When he walks the dog, he doesn’t go far. And he takes his portable TV and sits on a stone wall while the dog walks round in a circle. So , Bob is really lazy.“You’ve got the world at your feet.”means You are free to watch any programme that you want to watch. You can use the remote control to make choices accordingly.Yes, Bob is always busy. In the early morning when he hears the alarm clock he jumps out of his bed, and begins to get ready for his work. He takes a bus to work. All the morning he is busy with meetings and phone calls. Do you often study at weekends? Decide whether your partner is a couch potato or a workaholic or neither. 3 minutes later, I will choose some pairs to share their performance.For group work, students need to work in groups of 4 and discuss these questions: Are Brian and Bob’s lifestyles healthy? What can they do to improve their lifestyles? Each group leader should collect suggestions and five minutes later I will ask some group leaders to give an oral report. So this discussion can achieve the emotional aims of arousing their awareness of forming good habits and a healthy lifestyle.Step 5 Summary and homeworkAfter all the activities I will help students to review the two kinds of lifestyles they have learned today.For homework, I will ask students to listen to the recording of the texts for three to five times and read after them and try to retell the texts in their own words. And at the beginning of next class I will ask some students to retell the texts.8. Analysis of blackboard designMy blackboard design is like this. 现如今越来越多的大学生选择做兼职英语作文全文共3篇示例,供读者参考篇1These days, the phenomenon of university students taking on part-time English tutoring jobs is becoming increasingly prevalent. As a student myself, I can attest to the growing trend among my peers to seek out such opportunities. There are numerous factors contributing to this paradigm shift, ranging from financial considerations to personal growth and skill development. In this essay, I will delve into the multifaceted motivations behind this phenomenon and explore its implications for both students and the broader educational landscape.One of the primary drivers behind the surge in part-time English tutoring jobs among university students is undoubtedly the financial aspect. The ever-rising cost of higher education, coupled with the escalating expenses associated with living in urban areas, has placed a significant financial burden on many students and their families. Consequently, taking on a part-time job becomes a necessity rather than a choice for some students. English tutoring, in particular, presents an attractive option dueto the high demand for proficiency in the language, both domestically and globally.Moreover, the flexibility of English tutoring jobs allows students to strike a balance between their academic commitments and earning an income. Unlike traditionalpart-time jobs that require rigid schedules, tutoring can often be arranged around class schedules, providing students with the freedom to manage their time effectively. This flexibility is especially appealing to those juggling demanding coursework and extracurricular activities, enabling them to maintain their academic performance while supplementing their income.Beyond the financial incentives, however, engaging inpart-time English tutoring can also foster personal growth and skill development for university students. The act of teaching itself requires a deep understanding of the subject matter, as well as the ability to convey complex concepts in a clear and engaging manner. This process of breaking down information and presenting it in a comprehensible way can enhance the tutor's own grasp of the material, reinforcing their knowledge and communication skills.Furthermore, tutoring exposes students to a diverse range of learners, each with their unique learning styles, backgrounds,and challenges. Adapting to these varying needs and tailoring their teaching approach accordingly cultivates invaluable interpersonal skills, such as empathy, patience, and cultural sensitivity. These soft skills are not only beneficial in the context of tutoring but also invaluable in any professional setting, providing students with a competitive edge in the job market upon graduation.Additionally, the experience of tutoring can serve as a stepping stone for those considering careers in education or related fields. It offers a practical opportunity to explore teaching methodologies, classroom management techniques, and curriculum development. For aspiring educators, this hands-on exposure can be invaluable, allowing them to refine their skills and gain insights into the realities of the profession before committing to it fully.However, it is essential to acknowledge the potential challenges and drawbacks associated with juggling part-time work and academic responsibilities. Striking the right balance can be a delicate endeavor, and the pressure of managing multiple commitments can lead to stress and burnout if not approached with careful time management and self-care strategies.Moreover, the quality of tutoring services provided by students may vary, potentially leading to inconsistent learning experiences for the tutees. While many university students possess a strong command of the English language, they may lack formal training in teaching methodologies or experience in lesson planning, which could impact the effectiveness of their instruction.To address these concerns, it is crucial for universities and educational institutions to provide adequate support and resources to student tutors. This could include offering training programs, access to teaching materials, and mentorship from experienced educators. By equipping student tutors with the necessary tools and guidance, the quality of their services can be enhanced, ensuring a rewarding experience for both the tutors and their students.In conclusion, the growing trend of university students engaging in part-time English tutoring jobs is a multi-faceted phenomenon driven by a combination of financial pressures, personal growth opportunities, and career exploration. While this path presents numerous benefits, such as financial independence, skill development, and practical experience, italso comes with challenges that require careful navigation and institutional support.As the demand for English proficiency continues to rise globally, the role of student tutors in addressing this need becomes increasingly significant. By embracing this trend and fostering a supportive environment for student tutors, universities can not only provide valuable services to the community but also equip their students with invaluable experiences and skills that will serve them well beyond their academic years.篇2The Surge of the Student Side HustleAs a university student myself, I can't help but notice the increasing trend of my peers taking on part-time jobs or "side hustles" alongside their academic commitments. Gone are the days when a student's sole focus was on their studies. Nowadays, it seems like everyone is juggling multiple responsibilities, be it working at a cafe, tutoring, or running an online business. This phenomenon raises several questions: What's driving this shift? What are the pros and cons? And is it a sustainable way of life?The Root CausesThe primary driver behind this surge in student side hustles is undoubtedly financial pressure. With the ever-rising cost of living and tuition fees, many students find themselves struggling to make ends meet on a student budget alone. Taking on a part-time job becomes a necessity to cover expenses like rent, groceries, and textbooks. Even for those receiving financial aid or support from their families, the desire for supplemental income and a taste of financial independence is strong.Another factor fueling this trend is the changing perception of work-life balance among younger generations. Unlike previous cohorts who may have viewed work as separate from their personal lives, today's students often seek a more integrated approach. They crave experiences that align with their values, interests, and long-term career goals. A side hustle allows them to explore these avenues while still pursuing their academic degrees.The ProsOne of the most significant advantages of having a side hustle is the financial freedom it provides. With a steady stream of income, students can alleviate the burden of student loans, save for future endeavors, or simply enjoy a more comfortable lifestyle. Additionally, the skills and experiences gained throughthese part-time jobs can be invaluable in developing awell-rounded skillset and enhancing future employability.Soft skills like time management, communication, and problem-solving are honed through the juggling act of balancing studies and work. Furthermore, some side hustles, such as freelance writing or graphic design, directly align with students' academic pursuits, allowing them to apply their knowledge in practical settings and potentially kickstart their careers before graduation.The ConsWhile the benefits of side hustles are appealing, they come with their fair share of challenges. The most obvious one is the strain on a student's already limited time and energy resources. Balancing academics, extracurricular activities, social life, and a part-time job can quickly lead to burnout and compromised academic performance if not managed carefully.Moreover, some side hustles may not align with a student's long-term career goals, leading to a dispersion of focus and potential opportunity costs. There's also the risk of exploitation, as some employers may take advantage of students' desperation for income by offering unfair wages or working conditions.Finding the Sweet SpotDespite the potential drawbacks, the allure of side hustles remains strong for many students. The key lies in striking the right balance and making informed choices. Students should carefully evaluate the time commitment and workload of a potential side hustle, ensuring it doesn't impede their academic progress or mental well-being.Prioritizing time management and setting clear boundaries are crucial. Some students find success by dedicating specific blocks of time to their side hustles, treating them like scheduled classes or commitments. Others opt for more flexible arrangements, such as freelance work or online ventures that can be managed around their academic schedules.Additionally, students should strive to align their side hustles with their long-term career aspirations. If a job doesn't contribute to their skillset or professional development, it may be worth reconsidering. Conversely, opportunities that allow for practical experience or networking within their desired field can be invaluable investments.The Role of UniversitiesAs this trend continues to gain momentum, universities have a responsibility to adapt and support their students in navigating the side hustle landscape. Offering workshops on time management, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy could equip students with the tools they need to balance their commitments effectively.Furthermore, universities could explore partnerships with local businesses or organizations to facilitate part-time employment opportunities that align with students' academic programs and career goals. On-campus job fairs or internship programs tailored to students' interests could be valuable resources.Embracing the New NormAs a student myself, I can attest to the challenges and rewards of juggling a side hustle alongside my studies. While it's certainly not an easy feat, the experiences and skills gained have been invaluable. From learning to prioritize and manage my time effectively to developing a stronger work ethic and financial literacy, my side hustle has been a catalyst for personal growth.For many of us, side hustles are no longer just a temporary solution but a way of life that blurs the lines between work and academics. As we navigate this new reality, it's crucial to strike abalance, make informed choices, and leverage the resources available to us.The surge of student side hustles is a testament to the adaptability and entrepreneurial spirit of today's youth. With the right mindset and support systems in place, we can embrace this trend as an opportunity for personal and professional growth, paving the way for a generation of well-rounded, financially savvy, and experience-rich graduates.篇3More and More College Students Are Choosing to DoPart-Time JobsCollege life is meant to be a once-in-a-lifetime experience filled with new adventures, personal growth, and unforgettable memories. However, the harsh reality is that the cost of higher education has been skyrocketing, leaving many students struggling to make ends meet. As a result, an increasing number of college students are turning to part-time jobs to supplement their income and alleviate the financial burden.I can personally attest to the challenges of financing a college education. Coming from a middle-class family, the tuition fees, textbooks, housing, and other associated costsquickly added up, leaving me with a substantial financial burden. It was then that I realized the importance of finding a part-time job to help cover these expenses.At first, the prospect of balancing studies and work seemed daunting. I worried about the potential impact on my academic performance and social life. However, after careful consideration and speaking with friends who had successfully juggled both responsibilities, I decided to take the plunge and seek out a part-time job.The process of finding a suitable job was not without its challenges. I sifted through countless job postings, attended interviews, and eventually landed a position as a barista at a local coffee shop. While the work itself was demanding, with long hours on my feet and the need to multitask constantly, it taught me valuable lessons in time management, customer service, and the importance of a strong work ethic.As I settled into my new routine, I quickly discovered the benefits of having a part-time job. Firstly, the steady income provided me with a sense of financial independence and alleviated the burden on my parents, who had already sacrificed so much for my education. Secondly, the job allowed me to develop essential soft skills that would undoubtedly proveinvaluable in my future career. Working in a fast-paced environment taught me how to handle stress, communicate effectively, and work collaboratively with a diverse team.Moreover, the experience of holding a part-time job instilled in me a newfound appreciation for the value of hard work and the importance of budgeting. I became more mindful of my spending habits, learning to prioritize necessities over luxuries and seeking out ways to save money whenever possible.Despite the challenges of balancing work and studies, I found that having a part-time job actually improved my academic performance. The structure and discipline required to manage my time effectively spilled over into my studies, as I became more organized and efficient in my approach to coursework and assignments.Furthermore, the social aspect of working alongside fellow students and individuals from various backgrounds broadened my perspective and enriched my college experience. I formed lasting friendships with coworkers who shared similar struggles and aspirations, and we often supported one another through the inevitable ups and downs of student life.Of course, the experience was not without its drawbacks. There were times when the demands of work and studiescollided, causing stress and anxiety. Late-night study sessions and early morning shifts took their toll, and I found myself longing for more free time to engage in extracurricular activities or simply relax.However, these challenges only served to strengthen my resolve and taught me valuable lessons in prioritization and self-care. I learned to set boundaries, communicate my needs effectively, and seek support from friends, family, and campus resources when necessary.As I reflect on my college experience, I can say with certainty that taking on a part-time job was one of the best decisions I made. Not only did it provide me with financial stability, but it also equipped me with a diverse set of skills and experiences that have prepared me for the challenges of the professional world.Looking ahead, I know that the lessons I learned from balancing work and studies will continue to serve me well. The determination, resilience, and time management skills I honed during those years will undoubtedly be invaluable assets as I embark on my career journey.To my fellow students considering taking on a part-time job, I encourage you to embrace the challenge. While it may seem daunting at first, the rewards are immense. Not only will you gainfinancial independence and valuable work experience, but you will also develop essential life skills that will set you apart from your peers.However, it is crucial to strike a balance and prioritize your well-being. Seek out support from campus resources, communicate openly with your professors and employers, and remember to carve out time for self-care and leisure activities.In conclusion, the decision to take on a part-time job during college is a personal one that requires careful consideration of individual circumstances. However, for those willing to embrace the challenge, the rewards are numerous and far-reaching. Not only does it provide financial stability, but it also equips students with invaluable skills and experiences that will serve them well beyond their college years.。
Unit 4 Describing MethodologyObjectives─ Be clear about t he significance of this section─ Try to understand the importance of pa ssive voice in academic writing─ Learn to be skilled in using sequential markers in writing a pro cess─ Be fam iliar with proof-reading skills─ Learn to design a questionnaireContents─ Brief introduction to this section─ Reading & Discussion: What information elements are usually involved in writing a methodology section?─ Language Focus: Passive voice and sequential markers─ Writing Practice: Understanding the sentence patterns and sent ence order in writing a process─ Writing Project: How to design a questionnaire1.Reading ActivityIn natural sciences the method section is often called Materials and Methods. In social sciences it is common to introduce a section called Theory and Methods. Sometimes it is divided in two sections: Theoretical Framework and Methods.Research methodology is mainly concerned with the answers to the following questions:1) Why is a particular research study undertaken?2) How has one formulated a research problem?3) What types of data have been collected?4) What particular methods have been used?5) Why is a particular technique of analysis of data used?1.1Pre-reading TaskThe following is the method section of a research article in the field of applied linguistics. Think about the following questions before reading the text and then havea discussion with your classmates:1) What is the function of the method section?2) What information elements does a method section include?3) What verb tenses are mainly used in the text? What is the proportion of activevoice verbs to passive voice verbs in this method section?1.2 Reading PassageEnglish for College Students in Taiwan:A Study of perceptions of English Needs in a Medical ContextThe experiment was initiated to investigate perceptions of English needs in a medical context among college students in Taiwan.The subjects were 341 medical students in the Department of Medicine, including 97 freshmen, 74 sophomores, 90 juniors, and 80 seniors, and 20 faculty members in the medical program at Chung Shan Medical College in Taichung, Taiwan, China.Two questionnaires were developed for the survey, based on two earlier survey instruments by Taylor & Hussein (1985) and Guo (1989). The questionnaires were translated into Chinese, piloted, and modified according to the feedback from l0 respondents: six medical students and four faculty members from Chung Shan Medical College. The questionnaire given to the medical students consisted of five sections of 23 questions, the topics of which were the importance of English incollege and professional careers, perceived language skill needs and problems, the activities needed in a freshman language course, and suggestions for development of course content and materials as well as demographic information. The faculty questionnaire consisted of four sections of l6 questions, which were parallel to those in the version given to the students except no demographic information was gathered (see Appendix).One of the authors, a faculty member at Chung Shan Medical College, selected one required class for each group of students (freshmen sophomores, juniors and seniors). Copies of the student questionnaire for administration to the students were then sent to cooperating instructors teaching these courses; copies of the faculty questionnaire were given to 20 teachers who were willing to complete the survey.The data were computer-analyzed using an SPSS program: in the questionnaire, percentages were determined for all questions except 8 and 13 for which means were computed. Chi-square, t-tests, and ANOV A analyses (方差分析) were conducted in order to determine the perceptions of English language needs of medical college students and their faculty and to compare the perceptions held by the various groups.( Pang, 2008)1.3 Reading Comprehension1.3.1 Fill in the following table with relevant details from the passage.1.3.2 Understand more about the method section of this research. Whatdo you know about the questionnaires used in the survey?2. Language Focus2.1 Passive voiceThe passive voice is usually used in academic writing, because passive structures have less subjective coloring in most cases than active ones. When describing a process or a scientific experiment, it is important to write in a neutral style, as an observer. To do this, you can use passive voice. There are three instances in which the passive voice is recommended: 1) when we do not know or do not care about who has performed the action; 2) when we focus on the receiver instead of the performer of the action; and 3) when we would like to remain in a neutral or objective position in writing. More examples from the methodology section are as follows:1) The study was conducted at the beginning of the semester and the final one was given at the end of the semester. ( procedure )2) In summer, the greenhouse was cooled by pulling in air through water saturated pads on the south end of the building. ( specially designed material )3) The quartz reactors tested for this work are fabricated by the A&B Sales Company of Wheeling, Leeds, UK. ( instrument )4) In order to provide a broad sampling of college students, respondents were recruited from diverse fields of study. ( sampling )5) The final scores were computed into mean averages (X) and standard deviations (SD). ( statistical analysis)2.1.1 Go over the Reading Passage and mark verbs inthe passive voiceand then complete the following table:2.1.2 Rewrite the following text with passive voice.Some people consider a poison ivy infection to be humorous. But it is not funny at all. Contact with the plant causes a rash that has the intensity of a fresh mosquito bite and lasts for several days. Scientists have studied poison ivy infection for centuries, but they have found no preventive pill or inoculation. The poisonous substance in the plant is called urushiol. After urushiol has touched the skin, blisters and weeping sores will soon cover the exposed area.2.2 Sequential markersA process paragraph explains how to do something or how something works. Process paragraphs are usually developed step-by-step in a chronological or logical sequence. The following sequencing expressions are more frequently used to link steps in a description of a process or to divide a process into steps:● Firstly … To begin with … First of all … etc.●Secondly … Next … After that … In addition … etc.● Finally … Lastly …The following sentences describe a process of making paper. Use sequential words and rewrite them into a cohesive paragraph.1) The logs are placed in the shredder.2) They are cut into small chips and mixed with water and acid.3) They are heated and crushed to a heavy pulp which is cleaned.4) It is chemically bleached to whiten it.5) It is passed through rollers to flatten it.6). Sheets of wet paper are produced.7) The water is removed from the sheets which are pressed, dried and refined and the finished paper is produced.3. Writing PracticeA well organized, logically ordered and easily understandable chapter on methodology makes the thesis a really outstanding work. Normally, a method section includes:1) Overview of the experiment: one sentence briefly tells what was done (like a topicsentence);2) Population: state the people/subjects studied, or the things tested;3) Location : where the study took place;4) Restriction/Limiting conditions: precautions taken to make sure that the data are valid;5) Sampling Techniques : describe how the subject are selected for the study;6) Materials : describe the materials used to conduct the study or experiment;7) Procedures : State the steps of the experiment in a chronological order;8) Statistical Treatment: describe how the statistics are examined.Of all the items on this list, the only items that are always included in the method section are the materials and procedures.3.1 Read the following sentences. They are all taken from method sections from different research articles. In each case, determine which information element is represented.(1) A total of 369 participants of European origins (52.7% female) with a mean age of27.2 years were recruited by research assistants in public places in the Montrealregion.(2) The data used for the current analysis consists of 60 texts taken from 20engineering journals.(3) Experimenters approached potential participants by introducing themselves asstudents from the University of Quebec in Montreal and then asked if they would accept to participate in a short study on facial expressions.(4) The study aims to examine the use of SEF as a tool for providing evidence ofteaching effectiveness in tertiary education.(5) The results of the two questionnaires were subjected to statistical tests ofreliability and significance using SPSS.(6) Envelopes containing the survey materials were sent to the local business managerof each union. In the envelopes, there was a cover letter explaining the project, the questionnaire itself, and a pre-paid return envelope. The union business manager was contacted and asked to select workers from his union and to send the envelopes to the chosen workers.(7) The participants were 90 first-year students from the School of Foreign Languagesat a major university in Nanjing. Their average age was 18 years old. They constituted a convenience sample.(8) The investigation was performed in a national laboratory affiliated to a researchcenter for industrial automation in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province.3.2 Completing sentencesThe following words and phrasal verbs are more commonly used in Method SectionComplete the following paragraph by translating Chinese into English.A group of MBA students from a major metropolitan state university were recruited as participants for the investigation. (1)(问卷调查实施)after the topic of the BSC had been discussed in the course. 136 students enrolled in a managerial accounting course ( 2 ) (完成了此次问卷. _( 3 )_(表2给出了这些参与者的背景信息). As is shown, the majority of participants are male. _( 4 )_(参与者的平均年龄约29岁), _( 5 )_(平均工作经历约6年), and the mean number of accounting classes was approximately four.(Liu, 2008)1)_________________________________________________________________2)_________________________________________________________________3)_________________________________________________________________4)_________________________________________________________________5)_________________________________________________________________3.3 Reordering sentencesThe following is the method section of a research article from the field of engineering with sentences in a scrambled order. Pay particular attention to the choice of tense and voice.4. Writing Project4.1 Gathering information for a method section.You are required to write the method section of a research paper in the field of English language class attendance with the information elements given below. Gather information for your research.4.2 Designing a questionnaireThe design of a questionnaire will depend on whether the researcher wishes to collect exploratory information (i.e. qualitative information for the purposes of better understanding or the generation of hypotheses on a subject) or quantitative information (to test specific hypotheses that have previously been generated).A good questionnaire is one that: 1) enables collection of accurate data in a timely manner; 2) facilitates the work of data collection, data processing and the tabulation of data; 3) ensures that there is no collection of non-essential information; and 4) permits comprehensive and meaningful analysis as well as purposeful utilization of the data collected to ensure that the technical task of the questionnaire receives the various input that it requires.Types of questionsThere are many different types of questions you can use to get the information that you need. In the main, these fall into open and closed questions. An open question allows the respondents to use their own words to answer, e. g., “What do you think are the main causes of racism?” A closed question gives them pre-defined options, e.g., “Which of the following do you think are the main causes of racis m: a, b, c, d”.The pros and cons of each are given in the following table.Rating design in a questionnaire: Look closely at the following example of a rating design.Please rate the quality of the medical insurance of this company.□Poor □Fair □GoodThere are nine steps involved in the development of a questionnaire:1. Decide the information required;2. Define the target respondents;3. Choose the method(s) of reaching your target respondents;4. Decide on question content;5. Develop the question wording;6. Put questions into a meaningful order and format;7. Check the length of the questionnaire;8. Pre-test the questionnaire;9. Develop the final survey form.Now work in groups of four, and design a questionnaire to obtain information about students’ attendance and ca uses for their absence.4.3 Drafting your method sectionBegin your writing now with the information you have just obtained from your survey.5. Final ChecklistRevision gives you an opportunity to take another look at what you have written. Therefore, you have to do some extra work to revise your draft. Here are some general rules for your check.。

例:简答1、根据《UCP600》,运输单据包括哪些种类?(2010年考题)
答案:包括海运提单、租船提单、多式联运单据、不可转让海运单、空运单据、邮包收据、公路、铁路和内陆水运运输单据。
(三)UN/EDIFACT的分类
A、9大类
B、4大类
C、2大类
D、5大类
答案:A
)
(1) 各种单据必须做到“三相符”;
