“If mum finds out that I'm going to the beach, I'll be in big trouble.” I said to myself softly in a low voice.I went downstairs slowly and tried to walk casually into the kitchen. As I was walking towards the back door, mum asked without looking up fro m her “dish-washing”, “Where are you going?” I answered back without hesitation,“ I am going to the garden to play.” After I got out of the kitchen, I breathed a sign of relief. My plan had worked out fine so far.I climbed the fence and jumped onto the muddy field next to my house and started running towards the bus stop at top speed. After half an hour I was at the beach scanning the crowd for my friends, Jimmy and Bobby. Two young men were racing in the canoes (独木舟).After a while, I saw them near a coconut tree.I ran towards them and got into my swimming trunk (游泳裤).For about an hour, we played volleyball happily.Suddenly, Bobby hit the ball too hard and the ball fell into the sea.Just as Bobby was going to pick up the ball, the tide came in and carried the ball further and further away from the shore.I wanted to show off my swimming skills so I declared to help get the ball for them.I dived into the water and started swimming at a steady pace. After swimming for about ten minutes, I became tired but when I saw that the ball was only a few feet away from me, I put in an extra burst of speed. However, just as I was going to get the ball, a very strong current swept the ball further away from me.At that moment, a string of weed (海草)tangled (缠绕) up with my feet and I could not swim properly.I struggled to keep afloat but it was no use.“ If I had listened to my parents, this would never have happened,”I thought silently.Paragraph 1Finally, after struggling for a minute or two, I still got pulled underwater.Paragraph 2When I woke up, I was in an empty room lying on a bed.

I met Gunter on a cold, wet and unforgettable evening in September. I had planned to fly to Vienna and take a bus to Prague for a conference. Due to a big storm, my flight had been delayed by an hour and a half. I touched down in Vienna just 30 minutes before the departure of the last bus to Prague. The moment I got off the plane, I ran like crazy through the airport building and jumped into the first taxi on the rank without a second thought. That was when I met Gunter. I told him where I was going, but he said he hadn't heard of the bus station. I thought my pronunciation was the problem, so I explained again more slowly, but he still looked confused. When I was about to give up, Gunter fished out his little phone and rang up a friend. After a heated discussion that lasted for what seemed like a century, Gunter put his phone down and started the car. Finally, with just two minutes to spare we rolled into the bus station. Thankfully, there was a long queue (队列) still waiting to board the bus. Gunter parked the taxi behind the bus, turned around, and looked at me with a big smile on his face. "We made it," he said.Just then I realised that I had zero cash in my wallet. I flashed him an apologetic smile as I pulled out my Portuguese bankcard. He tried it several times, but the card machine just did not play along. A feeling of helplessness washed over me as I saw the bus queue thinning out.At this moment, Gunter pointed towards the waiting hall of the bus station. There, at the entrance, was a cash machine. I jumped out of the car, made a mad run for the machine, and popped my card in, only to read the message: "Out of order. Sorry."

On a bright, warm July afternoon, Mac Hollan, a primary school teacher, was cycling from his home to Alaska with his friends. One of his friends had stopped to make a bicycle repair, but they had encouraged Mac to carry on, and they would catch up with him soon. As Mac pedaled ( 骑行)along alone, he thought fondly of his wife and two young daughters at home. He hoped to show them this beautiful place someday. Then Mac heard quick and loud breathing behind him.”Man,t hat' s big dog!” he thought. But when he looked to the side, he saw instantly that it wasn't a dog at all, but a wolf, quickly catching up with him.Mac's heart jumped. He found out his can of bear spray. With one hand on the bars, he fired the spray at the wolf. A bright red cloud enveloped the animal, and to Mac's relief, it fell back, shaking its head. But a minute later, it was by his side again. Then it attacked the back of Mac's bike, tearing open his tent bag. He fired at the wolf a second time, and again, it fell back only to quickly restart the chase (追赶) .Mac was pedaling hard now. He waved and yelled at passing cars but was careful not to slow down He saw a steep uphill climb before him. He knew that once he hit the hill, he'd be easy caught up and the wolf's teeth would be tearing into his flesh. At this moment, Paul and Becky were driving their car on their wayto Alaska. They didn't think much of it when they saw two cyclists repairing their bike on the side of the road. A bit later, they spotted what they, too, assumed was a dog running alongside a man on bike. As they got closer, they realized that the dog was a wolf. Mac heard a large vehicle behind him. It was somewhere between spring and summer my mom and I were driving through the countryside Back then I was 13 years old and always felt unhappy with Mom. But little did I know that this trip was going to be a special one.A pot of flowers sat in the back seat, whose heavenly scent filled the car.Suddenly, in the middle of nowhere, my mom pulled over.“What are you doing?”I cried, fearing that the car had broken down and we’d be stuck there, so far from home. But that wasn’t the case. My mom hopped out of the car, grabbing the flowers from the back seat.“It’ll just be a minute,”she called back through the open windows. My eyes impatiently skimmed the edge of the road before settling on a little sign showing that it was a nursing home. I looked back to the building, somewhat annoyed, as my mom reappeared—empty-handed.Before she started the car, curiosity drove me to ask,“Do you know someone there?”She shook her head.“Then what did you do with the flowers?”She smiled slightly,“I gave them to the receptionist(前台接待员).”“What?”She laughed at my confusion.“I told the receptionist to give the flowers to whoever needed them, especially who hasn’t gotten any in a while.”I kept silent for a moment. Not long after we continued our driving, I spoke again,“Did you leave your name?”To this she answered instantly,“No. Leaving flowers there for someone who will appreciate them makes me feel good, which is enough of a thank for me. ”Suddenly, still thinking about Mom’s deeds, I heard something burst loudly. It was our car that broke down!Nothing could be worse, because neither my mom nor I understood how to repair it, and we didn’t know where the garage was. It also seemed impossible to wait for any passer-by, since we had seen so few along the way.

My teenage son, Jordan, always complained about having to be home earlier than all his friends. He would tell me that he was already seventeen, but still had a curfew (宵禁),He believed he was practically an adult.I pointed out that he was not an adult as he was still in high school.“You don't trust me!” he yelled. Before I continued, he rolled his eyes, slammed the door and walked away.I sighed. How could I make Jordan see that I only wanted to keep him safe?I decided to go for a walk, hoping the December air would clear my head.I opened the front door and nearly stepped on her: a small black cat, just like a meatball.“Hi, Meatball," I said, bringing her into my arms.I walked back in, touching her neck gently.Meatball seemed happy enough to come in the house, but after an hour or two, she sat by the door, meowing to go back outside.“Why won't she just stay in with us all the time?” Nathan, my youngest son asked.I explained to him that she was happy here but she liked being able to come and go as she pleased.“That must be nice,” Jordan muttered from the other room, complaining why the cat, not him, could come and go.He even asked me to give Meatball a curfew.Meatball became a regular. One night, temperatures were unusually low.Meatball stood at the door, meowing to go outside.I shook my head at her, afraid that she might freeze to death. She stared at me and meowed again.I patted her head, “I know you're not happy, but it's for your own good.”“Mom's not being mean to you,” Nathan told the cat.“She's just trying to keep you from turning into a frozen meatball.”We both laughed at his joke. The next morning, I couldn't find Meatball.I asked the kids if anyone had seen her.【注意】1.

Writing 1【★★☆】It was summer, and my dad wanted to treat me to a vacation like never before. He decided to take me on a trip to the Wild West.We took a plane to Albuquerque, a big city in the state of New Mexico. We reached Albuquerque in the late afternoon. Uncle Paul, my dad’s friend, picked us up from the airport and drove us up to his farm in Pecos. His wife Tina cooked us a delicious dinner and we got to know his sons Ryan and Kyle. My dad and I spent the night in the guestroom of the farm house listening to the frogs and water rolling down the river nearby. V ery early in the morning, Uncle Paul woke us up to have breakfast. "The day starts at dawn on my farm," he said. After breakfast, I went to help Aunt Tina feed the chickens, while my dad went with Uncle Paul to take the sheep out to graze(吃草). I was impressed to see my dad and Uncle Paul riding horses. They looked really cool.In the afternoon, I asked Uncle Paul if I could take a horse ride, and he said yes, as long as my dad went with me. I wasn’t going to take a horse ride by myself anyway. So, my dad and I put on our new cowboy hats, got on our horses, and headed slowly towards the mountains. "Don’t be late for supper," Uncle Paul cried, "and keep to the track so that you don’t get lost!" "OK!" my dad cried back. After a while Uncle Paul and his farm house were out of sight. It was so peaceful and quiet and the colors of the brown rocks, the deep green pine trees, and the late afternoon sun mixed to create a magic scene. It looked like a beautiful woven(编织的)blanket spread out upon the ground just for us.(2018年浙江卷)注意:1. Paragraph 1:Suddenly a little rabbit jumped out in front of my horse. _______________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________________________________________ __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Paragraph 2:We had no idea where we were and it was getting dark. ________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________________________________________【范文赏析】I held on tightly and tried not to fall.
Be a story; Beyond a story.
