Step1. Introduction
1.Presentation
Show a map of Europe on the screen. Let the students find some countries as many as possible. Ask the students to learn and read the words in the box of Activity 1 with the help of the map.
2.Do Activity 1
Ask some questions: eg. Do you know the capital of the United Kingdom? What language do people in the UK speak? And so on.
3.Do Activity 2.
Read the information and find the countries on the map.
Let the students read the map on Page 1. Ask which countries the letters refer to.
4.Retell. Let the students read the six groups of sentences to be familiar with Europe. Then encourage some of them to come up to the front to introduce the six countries with their own words.
Step 2. Listening
1.Pre-listening.
Introduce the three famous cities in Europe to the whole class by using some beautiful pictures. Meanwhile, ask them some questions. Eg. Do you know the city of Edinburgh? Which country is it in? Do you know anything else about it? Where is Cardiff? In Scotland or in Wales? Where is V alencia? In Italy or in Spain?
2. While-listening.
Get the students to listen to the tape twice. The first time, listen and complete the chart. The second time, listen and decide if the sentences are true or false. For part 3, the teacher can pause sometimes so that the students can find the right answers.
3. After-listening.
(1)Let the students finish off the passage according to the listening material.
Sample: There are so many ________ cities in the United Kingdom. Edinburgh and Cardiff are two of them. Edinburgh is in ________ and Cardiff is in ________. Ask the students to retell the passage in pairs.
Let them discuss a topic in groups of four : Which is your favourite city? Why?

在教学过程中,我把In troduction, listening两部分整合成一节听说课。
通过对一幅欧洲地图的描述,介绍了欧洲国家的概况,丰富了学生的背景知识,从而引出了本单元的话题
Europe,同时进行词汇、句型的学习,为学生进行阅读、写作打下基础。
教师可以通过地图的展示,不仅使学生对欧洲有了一个感性的认识,而且还让学生操练了“描述位置”的句型。
学生在课堂上表现积极,在复述环节中能做到既熟练又有创意。

本节课是基于中等程度的学生展开的听说课。
素质教育和激励教育始终贯穿于教学活动之中。
在教学中,大胆的采用了开放式学习的方式,而不再是老师的一言堂,使学生学会了自主探究、自我完善。
