Unit 2 Where’s the post office?
Period 3
一、教学目标：
（一）知识掌握：
1．学习词汇neighborhood, just, straight, turn, left, down, right, on the right等。
2．语言目标：Ask for and give directions on the street.
Have students sing the song and beat with their hands.
Let them know the meaning ofleftandright.
Step 3 Lead in new words and expressions
1.Introduce:This is A. B is on his/her left. C is on his/her right.
重点句型：Just go straight and turn right/left.
It’s down …on the right/left.
（二）能力培养：
1．左（left）和右（right）的分辨。
2．通过这堂课，能让学生用简单的几个词go straight, turn left/right, on the left/right, down给他人指路。
Show pictures to have students useturn left/right, go straight.
Step 4 Ask for and give directions on the street
1. Show pictures. Give an example: Askis there a bank near here?
Show other pictures to practicedown, on the left/right.
3. Introduce:InChinawhen we are on street we must go on the right. But in some countries likeEnglandthey go on the left.

Ask: Who is on your left/ right?
Have sever the left/ on the right.

2．难点：要使学生能在看地图给他人指路时，把自己设身处地地放到地图当中去，不然很难搞清楚何为左何为右。同时要熟练掌握指路时的几个重点句子，能举一反三。
（二）基本思路：
由于学生的抽象思维能力还不是很强，而在地图上给他人指路时，需要学生能将自己置身其中，以便清楚地指点方向。所以我在设计课件的时候通过图片一步一步引导学生把自己放入到地图当中去，对重点的词汇和句型也是设法由简到繁、由浅到深一步步层层递进。如，先用一首英文歌编了几个简单的动作引入left和right，由left和right再引申到on the left/on the right，然后借由交通标志引出turn left/turn right和go straight。再通过简单的地图让学生把几个重点的词组串连起来，进行简单的指路。然后再通过比较抽像的地图让学生进行问路和指路的练习。在有了一定的基础之后，才让学生来熟悉课文，以便进一步加深印象。最后通过几个练习让学生能熟练掌握如何问路和指路。

Show pictures and ask :What are the meaning of these traffic signs?

3．使用礼貌用语：Excuse me. Thank you very much. You’re welcome/That’s all right/….
