1. Last year, I wanted to give up my studies.去年,我想退学。
give up 意为“放弃”。后接名词或动词的-ing形式作宾语。 give up doing sth.意为“放弃做某事”,如果代词作 give up 的宾语则需放在中间,如give it up.
Eg:His mother didn’t give up trying to help him.

make a difference意为“起作用,有影响”。
