本课的教学内容是人教版八年级英语下册第七单元的第二课时,本课时重在引导学生学习形容词和副词 最高级,以听,说,读为主,因此,教师可以将知识目标定为掌握本课时的单词和掌握最基本的最高级构成,以及了解四个世界之最,情感目标为鼓励学生多说,多练,使学生增强对大自然的探究兴趣。

Teaching procedures
Step1. Revision
Show a flashcard and revise “the Longest river ,the highest mountain,
the deepest sea and the biggest desert ”in the world ,talk about them
like this:
Qomolangma is the highest mountain
.
Step2. Thinking and answering
Teacher says: We learned the highest mountain, the deepest sea, the
longest river, and the biggest desert in the world. But “Do you know about
them in China?”
1. Show another 3 flashcards with questions on it, let Ss try their best
to answer
2. Check the answers orally in class.
3. Sum up what we learned in this step
(teach to read “Taklimakan Desert, the biggest/largest
population”)
Step3. Listening
1. Ask Ss to read through 2a and 2b
2. Have Ss read out the numbers and answer
What is the biggest /smallest number?
3. Play the computer twice and check Ss’ answers orally in class
4.
Step4. Practice
1. Show a sample conversation on a flashcard and have Ss practice like
that in pairs.
2. Find some pairs to act out
3.
Step5. Leading-in
Say to Ss: We learned something about China ,then do you know anything
about the longest wall in the world from China? What’s it ?
Play a flashcard and introduce it to Ss
Step6 Role-playing
1. Have Ss skim the conversation and find out the answers to the question
on the flashcards
2. Role-play it among the teacher Group1,Group2,Group3 and the teacher
3. Have Ss find out the English useful expressions
Do it like this: when I speak Chinese, show them on the flashcards
Step7 Consolidation
Let’s Ss think back what places we learned from 2a-2d,teacher help them
if necessary.
Step8 Homework
1. Show a flashcard with some questions about Qomolangma on it, ask Ss
to prepare them for next class after class ,tell them they can find
the answers in 3a.
