At first, only people in _E_n_g_l_a_n_d_ spoke English. Later, people from England _m_o_v_e_d_ to other parts, so English began to be spoken in _m_a_n_y_ _o_t_h_e_r _c_o_u_n_t_r_ie_s_. The road to modern English
At the end of the 16th century, about f_i_v_e_t_o_s_e_v_e_n_m__i_ll_io_n_ people spoke English. Nearly all of them lived in England.
In 1620 some British settlers moved to A__m_e_r_i_c_a. In the 18th century, some British people were taken to _A_u_s_t_r_a_li_a. English began to be spoken in both countries.
