An Indonesian man aged 23 years old who was suspected of having infected by avian flu virus died at 22:50 pm local time on January 7, an official said here on Monday.Dr. Dien Emawati, M Kes., head of Health Department at the Province of Jakarta, said that the patient was suspected of being infected by the virus as he was sick following the death of one of his pigeon a week before.
Indonesian
Brief measures of defending the bird flu.The bird flu is a deathful disease,to which there is still no effective medicines today. But we could defend and prevent it in advance. The mainly way that the bird flu virus infect us is through the direct touch of the ill chicken and its dejecta. So we could simplely get rid of the virus by getting away with sick chicken and its dejecta. If we touch them we should wash our hands at once in case of being infected. Also we should be away with thoses who infected with the virus and we should cover our mouth and nose when we sneezes. We should develop the habit of opening the window ofen,we should gain enough sleepness and eat well. And enough exercise is also helpful.Well to defend the bird flu we should insist on doing all these. Reflections after sSreading of Bird FluThis article discusses a new understanding of infectious diseases after the outbreak of bird flu was successfully controlled in 2004.With the invention of antibiotics and vaccines, people thought the times of infectious diseases had been ended. as a result, people neglected their threat, set aside fewer funds to prevent them and take less preventive measures against them. the sudden outbreak and wide spread of SARS, however, caused great damages to human health and social development. people come to realize that great changes in environmental and social conditions have greatly increased the risks of spreading of infectious diseases. As people realized that old infectious diseases would spread again and new ones would come after the SARS event, they strengthened the construction of public health system to significantly increase the power to deal with public health emergencies. when bird flu broke out in asia in 2004, Chinese government at all levels paid much attention to the event and took effective measures to prevent the disease from spreading to the whole country. consequently, no great damages were made to the human life or society. In conclusion, the writer says that people should understand that no single area or country can effectively control the outbreak of infectious diseases so that global cooperation is necessary.。

Symptoms include fever andrespiratory problems, incl uding severe pneumonia. Much is still unknown about thevirus, including how people are getting infected, but scientists say it contains geneticmarkers that could help it infect humans. It is believed able to circulate in poultry stockswithout sickening birds. This allows it to spread in flocks unnotic ed, making it muchharder to track and possibly creating more contamination since the birds are sur vivingand spending more time on farms, in markets and elsewhere.Q: How concerned should we be?A: At this point, experts say there is no cause for alarm, but they are watching closely. There's no e vidence the virus spreads from person to person, and no cases have beenreported outside China. S amples are collected from patients, and the Chinese Centerfor Disease Control and Prevention is s haring genetic sequences with the world's topflu experts. They study the virus and look for danger ous mutations. Poultry and itsproducts are safe to eat as long as they are properly cooked.Q: Is there a vaccine?A: No vaccine exists, but the World Health Organization and its partners are working toisolate and identify possible candidate viruses that could make a future vaccine ifnecessary. It would likely ta ke months to produce.Q: What changes do scientists see in the virus and why is this important?A: The virus appears to have mutated in a way that would make it easier for it to adaptand grow at normal body temperature in mammals. Scientists are trying to figure outwhich species could now be playing host to the virus, and one possibility is pigs.Swine are important because they share some basic biological similarities with humans, and they c an serve as "mixing vessels" if infected with different flu strains at the sametime.Mutations could also be occurring in poultry or are being generated after people areinfected. "The most important question is: What is the virus' actual host?" said RichardWebby, director of a WHO flu center at St Jude Children's Research Hospital inMemphis, Tennessee."It really looks like some mammalian host is involved."Q: How is this bird flu different from the deadly H5N1 strain?A: The H5N1 virus is highly lethal in birds, making it easier to identify and eliminatepoultry outbr eaks.H5N1 remains an avian influenza and has not taken root in anotherspecies, such as pigs. Most hu man infections have been linked to contact with infectedbirds. Scientists have been watching the v irus since it first appeared in Hong Kong in1997. It resurfaced in 2003, decimated poultry stocks a cross Asia and has since killedat least 371 people. About 60 percent of patients die, and experts ha ve long feared thisvirus could mutate into a form that spreads easily between people, possibly ignit ing apandemic.。

New Bird Flu Strain Reaches EuropeJoe DeCapuaNovember 25,2021A new strain of bird flu – known as H5N8 – has been detected in Europe. The U.N. Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) says it poses a serious threat to poultry there. African countries have been put on alert for possible cases. The FAO’s Ian Douglas says researchers have been monitoring the spread of H5N8.“We have been following this particular strain for quite some time. It’ been detected in Asia – in China, Japan and South Korea. It’s caused disease in poultry in those countries and has been det ected in wild birds there. It’s related to the influenza strain that spread across the world in the mid-2000s, but it is a different virus.”\In this April 13, 2021 photo provided by Kumamoto Prefecture, local government workers in white protective overalls line up to be sprayed disinfectant in Taragicho, Kumamoto Prefecture, western Japan. The 112,000 chickens were ordered culled on Monday, April 14 after two chickens tested positive for a highly pathogenic avian influenza at a farm in the town. (AP Photo/Kumamoto Prefecture)Douglas is head of the FAO’s Crisis Management Centerfor Animal Health. He said, in Asia, the new bird flu strain led to the slaughter of poultry on farms where it was discovered, along with quarantines and some temporary restrictions on trade.“There’s much more work that’s done in the lead-up to that and, in part, this is involving better detection, better surveillance and good laboratory diagnostic techniques,” he said.H5N8 was also found in migratory birds and waterfowl in Asia. It’s now in at least three European countries.“It’s been reported in the last two or three weeks from Germany, the Netherlands and the U.K. And each of those countries as it’s affected a poultry unit has responded with their well planned and executed response techniques. And certainly they’re increasing their level of awareness and surveillance. In addition, we’ve heard that some wild bird surveillance has resulted in this virus being detected,” said Douglas. This strain of avian flu is said to pose a threat especially in countries along the Black Sea with limited resources and along East Atlantic migratory routes of wild birds.Douglas said the spread of H5N8 appears similar to what was seen in the mid 2000s with the H5N1 strain. So, countries outside of Europe are on alert.“Certainly, in those instances it did spread to some of the countries, for instance, in West Africa. The H5N1, with agreat deal of work from all of the countries and agencies involved, has been limited now to many fewer countries than occurred initially. And we’ve not seen a reoccurrence ofH5N1 in West Africa, for instance, since the initial spread some six years ago. But there’s every reason to be concerned that we could see a repeat of that pattern with thisdiffere nt strain,” he said.Avian flu viruses spread very quickly and there’s usually a very high mortality rate among poultry. Some fowl, like ducks, may carry the virus, but show no symptoms. However, they can spread the disease.Asked if H5N8 poses any threat to humans, the FAOofficial said, “There is no evidence with the limited experience of this virus that any humans have been infected. It’s believed that the nature of the virus is not well adapted to invade human cells. However, we’re conscious that other influenza viruses have made that cross and in some cases causing severe illness in humans. We very much take the advice of WHO on this point for the moment. Their statements are that they don’t see a human impact.”The Food and Agriculture Organization is working with the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) in tracking the new strain of avian flu. They urge countries and poultry farmers to increase –what’s called – bio-security, which is the protection of agricultural animals from infectious agents.。

How To Prevent Bird FluIn 2003, there was a big disaster in China, the virus named SARS spread all overChina, it made a lot of time to recover. People thought after such disaster, there would be no virus like that in the short term, unluckily, not so many years, there happened a new virus, it killed many people, people called it bird flu. The dangerous virus happened twice inChinaduring the last ten years. People start to do self-examination, the doctor suggests people wash their hands often, be careful with the food. When we are out, taking our own daily use, never share with others. In a word, preventing the bird flu needs our attention all the time.2003年,中国发生场大灾难,种叫SARS的病毒蔓延全中国,这让国家花了很多时间才恢复。
如果你患了感冒,可以说:I have a cold. 或者I catch a cold.流感,英文单词是“flu”,其实这是一个简称,全称为“influenza”,词典中的定义是:an infectious disease like a very bad cold, that causes fever, pains and weakness(一种传染性的疾病,症状像非常严重的感冒,通常会引起发热、酸痛和乏力)。
