Teaching PlanModule 6 Unit 4 Global WarmingUsing Language: Reading and Writing一、教材分析1.本单元的中心话题是人类当今面对的环境问题。
旨在通过单元教学使学生树立“节约能源、保护环境”的主人翁意识,激励学生在日常生活中从点滴做起,为环保做贡献。
2.本节课课型为读写结合的语言综合运用课,为该单元的第四个课时。
学生通过阅读获得输入,为写作时语言和信息的输出做充分准备。
为了实现高效输出,教学重点将落在写作上。
课前将提前布置学生预习课文,并灵活处理教材中的阅读任务,重新设计与写作内容联系更紧密的阅读任务。
二、教学目标1.语言知识目标:学习重点单词及短语(例如:make a difference, turn anelectrical appliance off, turn up the heat, recycle, things made from recycled materials, economical with energy, absorb carbon dioxide, contribution, count)2.语言技能目标:进一步提高获取、分析和处理阅读信息的能力。
学习设计表达自己观点、劝说他人节约能源,保护环境的海报。
3.情感态度目标:了解在日常生活中节约能源的具体措施,增强学生保护环境,爱护地球的意识,激励学生在日常生活中从点滴做起,为环保做贡献。
4.教学重点:使学生了解在日常生活中节约能源的具体措施和学习设计海报。
5.教学难点:引导学生运用Reading部分和Discussion部分的语言与信息输入,设计海报,实现高效语言输出。
三、教学程序Step1 Warming up1.Ask Ss to enjoy some posters about global warming and choose a suitable slogan for eachposter.2.Instruct Ss to sum up the characteristics of slogans by comparing two sentences.(1)Change a light bulb and change the world.(2)You should change your light bulbs to help reduce global warming.Slogans are often simple, yet impressive.Step 2 Reading1.Ask Ss to tell what Ouyang Guang’s two concerns are.(1) His opinion that, as an individual, he can have little effect on environmental problems.(2) Some suggestions on what he can do about global warming.2. Ask Ss to fill in the form based on Earth Care’s reply.(electrical appliances, the heat, more clothes, bike, Recycle, recycled materials, economical, trees, family and friends, difference, contribution)3. Instruct Ss to tell the reasons for these suggestions.Energy can be saved;Trees absorb carbon dioxide.Together, individuals can make a difference; Your contribution counts.4. Instruct Ss to tell what type of sentence is used to list Earth Care’s suggestions.Imperative sentences are used to list Earth Care’s suggestions because they give instructions directly and clearly.Step 3 Discussion1.Ask Ss to watch a video about wasting energy in students’ school life.2.Ask Ss to form a group of four, and work together to think of at least two more suggestionsto do about global warming in their school life.3.Ask group reporters to present some suggestions.Step 4 Writing1.Ask Ss to watch a video about how to make a poster.2.Ask Ss to form a group of four and make a poster for our school that tells students what theycan do about global warming in their school life.3.Ask group reporters to present some posters.Step5 Summary and Homework1.Summarize what Ss have learned in today’s lesson.(1)Ways to do about global warming.(2)How to make a poster.(3)Important expressions:make a difference, turn an electrical appliance off, turn up the heat, recycle, things made from recycled materials, economical with energy, absorb carbon dioxide, contribution, count2.HomeworkAsk Ss to write a letter of suggestion to our school’s newspaper to tell other students ways to do about global warming.Tip: Earth Care’s reply is a good example.
