In his younger days, he worked as a cowherd（牧童), clerk(文书) and lecturer(讲学,讲师). At the age of 23, Confucius began to accept disciples in and gave lectures in the countryside. (乡间讲学收徒)

• The Temple of Confucius was used to offer sacrifices(祭祀)to Confucius.

His forefathers were nobles in the State of Song, later the whole family was moved to the State of Lu. When Confucius was very young ,his father died, so the family began to decline. He developed a firm and persistent character owning to the early years’ experience of frustrations.

Every day I examine myself on these three points: in acting on behalf of others, have I always been loyal to their interests? In intercourse with my friends, have i always been true to my word? Have i failed to repeat the precepts that have been handed down to me?
