定语从句Attributive Clause /Relative Clause
1,定义:
一个句子跟在一个名词或代词后进行修饰限定叫做定语从句。
按语法句式,定语从句在整个句子中做定语的成分。
被定语从句修饰的名词或代词叫先行词。
2,关系词分为:
关系代词:who,whom,whose,which,that,as
关系副词:when,where,why
3,关系词的三大作用:连接作用;替代作用;成分作用。
It is the day when we went to school. 代替the day, 做时间状语。
This is the house where I live. 代替the school, 做地点状语。
That is the reason why I go to school. 代替the reason, 做原因状语。
4,定语从句分类:限制性定语从句;非限制性定语从句。
关系副词when,where,why引导的定语从句
定语从句可以由关系副词when,where,why等引导。
关系副词在从句中作状语。
当when,where引导定语从句时,其对应的先行词分别是表示时间的名词和表示地点的名词。
当why引导的定语从句时,其对应的先行词是reason。
