Around 8 pm ona Wednesday, my mother called me in a panicfrom Florence. She said my

I live about five hours away in Ball Ground, Ga, just outside ofAtlanta. I arrived in Florence around

3 am. I entered the living room tofind my mom and sister weeping. They had called the police, but because of the late hour and limited resources, the police could not conduct a search until the morning. We felt so helpless. I tried to sleep, butit proved impossible. I wanted to do

something-anything-to get people looking for my dad.

Luc kily, Florence was my childhood home.I started sending outemails to friends still living in the area, asking them to keep a look-out. I also created the "Help Find Warren Baird" page on Facebook.Just a few hours later, more than 300 people connected with the page. Complete strangers started to comm ent, promising to share our posts or look around their areas for my dad.

Finally we got the call we had been praying for around noon onThursday. A family in LattaSC,saw an elderly man sitting in car. That same family saw a FaceBook News Feed post about our search forDad and called the police. When we saw Dad, he was confused, dehydrated(脱水的)and weak-but he was alive. He couldn't stand or walk on his own.

Thankfully the policeman that found him stayed with him until we could get there.

We often think that plane crashes are catastrophic (灾难的). But thankfully, that isn't the case. The National Transportation Safety Board found that the survival rate of crashes was 95.7%. According to fight crash investigators, close 10.80% of all plane crashes occur during this timeframe, and great importance should he attached to it. In between those times, the chances of a plane crash occurring drop dramatically.

More college graduates in China are seeking for work experience instead of advanced degrees, a survey shows. The practical approach, coupled with a record number of students graduating from college, is expected to intensify(加强) competition in the job market, analysts said.

More than 76 percent of university students said they wanted to work after earning their degrees this summer, up from 68.5 percent in 2012 and 73.6 percent last year, according to poll results from https://www.doczj.com/doc/ea12540353.html,, a major online agency, Zhu Bo.

ZengHao, a 25-year-old media major, managed to land a job in a publishing company in Zhongshan, Guangdong province, before he received his master's degree from the University of Macau in June. "Work experience really matters in the publishing industry, and a master's degree is enough for a newcomer to land a job," he said.

Wei Guihong, a program administrator at the School of Foreign Studies at Nanjing University, said about 60 percent of the school's graduates entered the labor market every year. There were fewer job opportunities in the market, which forced many students to postpone entering. The economic upturn in the past three years in China has given more confidence both to employers and

employees," he said. "Although academic degrees still matter, more and more employers value job seekers' work experience, or in other words, they prefer to hire someone witha bachelor's degree and some relevant work experience rather than someone witha master's degree butfresh out ofcollege," he said.

Everyone knows that eating too much junk food is not good to our health. Yet, what is it about junk food that is so completely irresistible(无可抗拒的)? For one thing, it’s everywhere. From ch ips in fast food restaurants to candy in supermarkets, junk food always seems available. Thankfully, science is now providing new clues to help us reduce snacking.

Make friends with dainty(讲究的) eaters.

Studies have found that people tend to increase or reduce the amount of food they eat depending on what their companions are taking in. See happy movies… and always get the small er bag of popcorn (爆米花).

According to some experts, people eat up to 29% more popcorn if they are watching a sad or serious movie, compared to when they are watching a comedy. Viewers consumed almost 200 calories more when snacking from a large bucket, as opposed to when given a medium-sized container.
