It was a homework-free weekend. Allen suggested going swimming. He had just completed his swimming course and wanted to try out the skills he had learnt. His friends agreed. They went to their neighborhood swimming pool. There were many people there. They changed clothes quickly and jumped into the pool. A lifeguard was keeping a watchful eye on all the swimmers.

Allen advised to his friends to swim over in the deep end. They refused as they knew it was dangerous for them. After all, they did not swim very well. Allen thought that he was a better swimmer and he wanted to prove it. He walked over to the deep end and jumped in.

At first everything seemed all right. Suddenly, Allen gave a shout and started flailing his arms. He was having difficulties! His friends were too shocked to do anything.

In America, many buildings don’t have any 13th floor. In France, people don’t like the number thirteen for their home addresses. In these countries, people are afraid that Friday falls on the 13th of the month because they think it’s an unlucky day. People are always careful on this day or they may have bad luck. But do you know where this superstition comes from?

One story is that there were thirteen people at Jesus’Last Supper. The thirteenth, Judas, betrayed(背叛) Jesus. Also, the thirteenth tarot(塔罗纸牌) card is Death. That’s why the number thirteen is not poputlar with Ameircans. So, be careful next time when Friday the 13th comes! Maybe you can cross your fingers to stop bad things happening.

Would it be fun to be a fish? They are, after all, quite different from us.

Fish have no ears as we do. Their bodies are covered with thin plates called scales. The only sounds they know are what they feel using certain scales along their sides. These are special scales called lateral lines.

We get oxygen from the air by using our lungs. Fish get oxygen from the water by using the gills(鳃) on the sides of their heads. We can play in water and on land, but fish must stay in the water all the time.

Fish never get hot or cold. They are called cold-blooded because they are always the same temperature as the water around them. That means they have no need for hot soup, or cold lemonade, or blankets, or cool shoes.

All in all, it’s probably more fun being us.

Look! These red apples are all for he. he的宾格形式是him,所以把he改为him。 改后:Look! These red apples are all for him. 2. The big yellow pears belong to me; the rest small ones are his and her. The big yellow pears belong to me; the rest small ones are his and hers. 3. Who taught your sister English? Nobody. She learned it all by her. Who taught your sister English? Nobody. She learned it all by herself. 4. Boys and girls! Enjoy yourself!

03 整合集训反馈层级化 ▲记叙篇 A(2014·镇江) Recently,I felt like I reached a very low point in life. My relationships weren’t good,I wasn’t enjoying my classes, and I felt like I had nothing to 1 .My life seemed to be full of endless homework, tests and loneliness. Nothing anyone said seemed 2 to me. They are both places with very cold temperatures and few people live there. However, the North and South Poles are not much alike as people may imagine. The North Pole has no land, only thick ice. Temperatures seldom go above 32°F, at which water turns into ice. Most of the time, it stays below zero. In winter temperatures are usually as low as -30℉.
