Learning background(课文学习背景体现):

The article is an informal letter written by Toby about his travel plans with his brother. A general introduction about their routes in Africa and adventure activities are presented. Equipped with background information about Africa, students are expected not only to grasp the main idea of the letter but also to identify the features of an informal letter.

Ask some of the students to describe a place that they want to visit most and the rest of them to guess the name of it.

Commentary(解说词):“Africa. The world’s greatest wilderness. The only place on Earth to see the full majesty of nature. There’s so much more here than we ever imagined. I’m standing where the equator(赤道) cuts right across the middle of the continent. To the north of me, there’s an immerse desert, the size of the United States of America. To the west, a vast rainforest the size of India. And behind me, for thousands of miles, the most fertile savannahs(大草原) in the world. From the roof of Africa to the deepest jungle. Rarely seen places, and untold stories. There’s nowhere in the world where wildlife puts on a greater show. This is the last place on Earth where you can come eye to eye with the greatest animals that walk our planet. This is Africa.”

Read the second and third paragraph, design some questions to ask and answer, then have a group competition. ( One group ask, the other answer, then exchange. Each round only lasts one minute.)

Read the fourth and fifth paragraph and race to fill in the blanks.

3)Listening and writing(听和写)

Listen to the sixth paragraph and try to write down some key words according to a mini-passage.(One or two students are asked to the blackboard to write the answers down.)

Step 4 An interview(采访)

Please do pair work, one as Toby, the other as a reporter from our school magazine. Toby will be interviewed about his travel plan by the reporter.

Toby is to say something about the travel plan in Africa.

The reporter is to interview Toby about his travel plan.

The following questions may help:

Have you ever made a travel plan?What do you need to know to plan your trip? Which places are you going to visit? Why do you select this place as your destination? What do you want to see and do if you are there? What are you going to take? Will you go white-water rafting? etc.

Conclusion:The simple future tense expresses a future action with intention while the future continuous tense expresses a future action as a statement of fact. 3.Will you be visiting your uncle in Tanzania? Reading An adventure in Africa 30th June Dear Aihua How are you ?sorry I haven’t written for so long. I’ve been quite busy planning my holiday with my older brother. Colin. Do you still remember the trip I told you about ? I told you Colin and I would spend a few weeks traveling before he goes to university. Well. now we’re ready to go ! We’re going to visit so many exciting places and do lots of astonishing things. We will go to Africa first . I can’t wait! Have you been there We leave London on 15the July. and we’ll be flying to Morocco. In northern Africa. We’re going to travel on camels throuth the Sahara Desert. It’s the biggest desert in the world-about the size of the US! I expect it will be very hot, dry and dusty there. We’ll be traveling by camel, with local guides ,camping in tents and sleeping on the ground in our big, thick sleeping bags. I’ve heard that we can see beautiful stars on clear nithts. I’ll bring a torch with me so that I’ll be able to see in the dark.The whole trip will take six days. That means I’ll have to sit on a camel for almost a week-how uncomfortable! I hope my camel likes me! After the trip by camel. we’re going to travel down the River Nile. We’ll start at Lake Victoria. A little way down the river from Lake Victoria. the water actually gets quite rough. So ,we’ll go white-water rafting. It’s quite dangerous, but very exciting! You have to wear special clothing, a helmet and a life jacket, just in case your raft gets turned upside down or sinks . After white-water rafting, we’re going on a trip to see wild animals in Kenya.We’ll live with the local people in their villages. and eat and drink whatever they do. Including cow’s blood! Do you think I should drink it ? Since we’ll be walking every day for almost two weeks. I’ll need to buy a large, strong, light backpack to carry my supplies of food and water. During the day. we’ll walk across the land. following the footprints of big animals such as elephants, lions and giraffes. We’ll try to get as close as possible to the animals. even though they’re dangerous. So that I can take some really good photos. But don’t worry about me-our guides will have guns with them to scare the animals away if they come too close. I really want to see an elephant up close. Colin wants to see a giraffe. After that , we’ll be moving on to Tanzania, where we’re going to climb Mount Kilimanjaro. Mountain climbing can be very tiring, and many people feel sick as the air gets thinner, so Colin and I will make sure that we will get enough rest after sunset. The African part of our trip will take about four weeks. Then we’re going to the Himalayas. I’ll send you postcards from all the different places we visit! Love, Toby

Module2Unit 2 They have seen the Pyramids教学设计 一、教材分析 本模块以个人经历为话题,主要谈论与旅游相关的经历,分设三个课时进行学习。本节课是这个模块中的第二课时,是一节读写课型的新授课。作为模块的第课,它为第二、三单元不仅提供了话题和语境,同时也为学生们后来的学习扫清语言和文化的障碍。本单元的阅读内容讲述的是美国小孩迈克.罗宾逊和妹妹随父亲在不同国家生活,所获得的生活见闻和收获的事情。内容与学生们的实际生活息息相关,激发了学生的学习兴趣,语言实践活动也比较好开展。本单元的重点是在语境中理解现在完成时的含义,并熟练掌握用现在完成时表达询问他人经历和向他人介绍自己的经历。难点是在特定语境下理解现在完成时的含义并能正确运用这一时态,使语法知识的学习融入生活实践,培养用语言做事的能力。 二、教学目标 1.语言知识目标 (1) 学会词汇: send, way, mix, count, count down (2) 理解词汇:move, Germany, France, tower, ancient, king, queen, Arabic (3) 复习词汇: company, palace, pronounce, so far 2.技能目标 (1) 能读懂有关旅行地点和旅行活动的描述并提取相关信息。 (2)能理解和复述课文语篇。 (3) 能完成语篇理解到运用的提升。 3.学习策略目标 (1)自学策略:能够用现在完成时谈论与教材内容不同的其他个人经历。 (2)合作学习策略:能够与他人配合,一起完成问卷调查等小组活动。 4.情感与态度目标 在教学过程中,学生们通过实践、参与有意义的各种形式的活动,体验与他人合作,共同完成学习任务的乐趣。在本课中,通过对于罗宾逊家庭的工作和生活经历的了解,让学生了解西方人热衷旅行,追求自由的个性;了解各地不同的地理环境和风景名胜。 5.教学重点和难点 重点是在语境中理解现在完成时的含义,并熟练掌握用现在完成时表达询问他人经历和向他人介绍自己的经历。难点是在特定语境下理解现在完成时的含义并能正确运用这一时态,使语法知识的学习融入生活实践 6.教具准备 课件、学案、多媒体等。 三、教学设计 本节课是一节以美国小孩迈克一家的工作、生活经历为话题的读写课。在整个的教学设计中,我们主要采取的是任务型教学法,旨在指导学生在熟悉的情境中带着任务去阅读文章,获取信息。为了让学生更好地理解文章,在阅读前,让学生看世界地图,谈论埃及和金字塔,从而轻松自然地导入文章的阅读;在阅读过程中,由易到难设计快速阅读和精读的问题,层层推进各种阅读活动,让学生对阅读内容从整体感知到细节理解,最后深层读懂整篇文章,理清文章的脉络,同时加强阅读策略的指导,让每个学生都乐于、主动地参与课堂教学活动,最终达到提高阅读能力的目的。 初二的学生比较活跃,有表达自己想法的意愿和热情。他们的智力发展趋于成熟,大多数学生基本能用英语获取信息、处理信息、分析问题和解决问题。他们已经或正在逐步形成自己的学习技能和策略,能够把语言学习与现实生活和兴趣联系起来。他们可以从课内

《高中英语趣味阅读系列研究》课题研究阶段总结 (20xx.12-... 精品资料 《高中英语趣味阅读系列研究》课题研究阶段总结(20xx.12-20xx.7) 溧阳市光华高级中学英语课题组 本学期我们高一英语备课组制定了《高中英语趣味阅读系列研究》的研究课题,本课题实验自20xx.12开始准备,并进行实施,经过课题组成员一学期的辛勤工作和对本课题的不断学习与深入研究,已取得了较为明显的成果,下面就对本学期课题的研究情况作一个总结: 一、课题研究的准备工作 准备工作的重点是对教师进行学习培训,转变更新教育观念,学习科研知识,提高教师科研能力。我们利用各种形式组织课题组教师进行了以下三方面的学习: 1.新课程改革理论学习。 2.课例研究与教师课堂教学行为的理论学习。 3.优秀课例学习。通过开展以上的学习,在管理上做到定计划、定时间、定地点、定内容、定主讲老师。让课题组成员深刻理解了课题中研究项目的主要内容和意义,进一步增强科研能力,建立科研信心。 二、课题研究的实施过程 1.调查学生的阅读现状及教师的阅读教学现状 自20xx年12月课题备案后,课题组就立即进入了课题研究,根据本课题的研究目的,课题组进行了《溧阳市光华高级中学学生英语阅读情况调查问卷》和《溧阳市光华高级中学英语阅读教学情况调查问卷》。学生卷的问卷的设置主要包括阅读态度、阅读目的、阅读内容的选择、阅读过程中的习惯、阅读的技巧和策略(包括生词策略和难句策略)、阅读材料的偏好、阅读障碍和阅读能力的自我评价这几个方面。教师卷的问卷的设置主要包括英语教师的英语阅读课程资源意识、英语教师对开发利用英语阅读课程资源的效果评价、教师开发利用英语阅读课程资源的主要途径,以及在开发利用过程中所遇到的困难这几个方面。在回收问卷调查后本课题组对问卷调查数据进行认真的分析和统计,以便对学生的阅
