1:Daughter-in-law and daughter

Two women were chating in a room,

One asked, "How is everthing going with your son?"

"Oh,don't even mention it, what a huge

misfortune1!!" The woman sighed:

"He is poor enough, and marry a extraordinary lazy daughter-in-law. She doesn’t cook, not clean the room, not look after the children except sleep all the time. It was my son who bring breakfast to her bed.

"How about your dauther?"

"She might be lucky." Woman smiled, "He married a good husband who doesn’t allow him to do the housework, and handle everything all alone. The housework include cooking, washing, cleaning and looking after the children. What’s more, he brought the breakfast to my daughter everyday.

Consider the same situation, but when we look at it from my perspective2, it will have a different mentality3(心态,

Stand to look at other people's position, or at each other's point of view to think about a lot of things, you can have a greater tolerance4 and more love.

2:Where Can You Find the Riches

An African farmer had heard tales about other farmers who had made millions of dollars by discovering diamond mines. These tales so excited the farmer that he could hardly wait to sell his farm and go prospecting1 for diamonds himself.

So he sold the farm and spent the rest of his life wandering the African continent, searching unsuccessfully for the gleaming(闪闪发光的) gems2(宝石) that brought such high prices on the markets of the world.

Finally, broke, worn out, and in a fit of despondency(泄气,意志消沉) , he threw himself into a river and drowned.

Meanwhile, back at the farm, the man who had bought his farm happened to be crossing a small stream on the property one day when he saw something gleaming at the bottom of the stream. He picked it up. It was a sparkling stone - a good size stone - and, admiring it, he later put it on his fireplace mantel(壁炉架) as an interesting curiosity.

Several weeks later, a visitor admired the stone, looked closely at it, hefted(举起) it in his hand and nearly fainted.

He asked the farmer if he knew what he'd found. When the farmer said no, that he thought it was just a piece of crystal, the visitor told him he had found one of the largest diamonds ever discovered.

The farmer was astonished. He told the man that his creek3(小溪) was full of these brilliant stones, and his farmland was covered with them. Not all were as large, perhaps, as the one on his mantel, but they were sprinkled generously throughout his property.

Needless to say, the farm the first farmer had sold, so that he could search for a diamond mine, turned out to be the most productive diamond mine on the entire African continent.

The first farmer had owned, free and clear, acres of diamonds, but had sold them for practically nothing in order to look for them elsewhere.

The moral is clear: If the first farmer hadonly taken the time to study and prepare himself - to learn what diamonds looked like in their rough state - and, since he had already owned a piece of land, to thoroughly4 explore the property he had before looking elsewhere, his wildest dreams would have come true.

3:When Love Beckons You

When her love beckons1(召唤,吸引) you, follow him, though his ways are hard and steep. And when his wings enfold you, yield to him, though the sword hidden among his pinions2(小齿轮,翅膀) may wound you. And when he speaks to you, believe in him, though his voice mayshatter(粉碎,打碎) your dreams as the north wind lays waste the garden.

For even as love crowns you so shall he crucify(折磨) you. Even as he is for your growth so is he for your pruning3. Even as he is for your growth so is he for your pruning. Even as heascends4 to your height and caresses5(爱抚,拥抱) your tenderest branches thatquiver(颤抖) in the sun, so shall he descend6 to your roots and shake them in their clinging to the earth.

But if, in your fear, you would seek only love’s peace and love’s pleasure, then it is better for you that you cover your nakedness and pass out of love’s threshing-floor, into the seasonless world where you shall laugh, but not all of your laughter, and weep, but not all of your tears. Love givesnaught7 but itself and takes naught but from itself. Love possesses not, nor would it bepossessed8, for love is sufficient unto love.

Love has no other desire but to fulfill9 itself. But if

you love and have desires, let these be your desires: To melt and be like a running brook10(小溪,小河) that sings its melody to the night.

To know the pain of too much tenderness(亲切,柔和) .

To be wounded by your own understanding of love.

And to bleed willingly and joyfully11.

To wake at dawn with a winged heart and give thanks for another day of loving;

To rest at the noon hour and meditate(考虑,计划)

love’s ecstasy13;

To return home at eventide(黄昏,日暮) with gratitude14;

And then to sleep with a prayer for the beloved in your heart.

One day, a colt took a bag of wheat to the mill. As he was running with the bag on his back, he came to a small river. The colt could not decide whether he could cross it. Looking around, he saw a cow grazing nearby. He asked, “Aunt Cow, could you tell me if I can cross the river?” The cow told him that he could and that the river was not very deep, just knee high. The colt was crossing the river when a squirrel jumped down a tree and stopped him. The squirrel shouted, “Colt, stop! Yo u'll drown! One of my friends drowned just yesterday in the river.” Not knowing what to do, the colt went home to cult his mom. He told his mom his experience on the way. His mother said, “My child, don't always listen to others. You'd better go and try yourself. Then you'll know what to do.” Later, at the river, the squirrel stopped the colt again. “Little horse, it's too dangerous!” “No, I want to try myself”, answered the colt. Then he crossed the river carefully. On the other side of the river, the colt realized that the river was neither as shallow as the cow said nor as deep as the squirrel told him. You see, real knowledge comes from practice.

Once there were two mice. They were friends. One mouse lived in the country; the other mouse lived in the city. After many years the Country mouse saw the City mouse; he said, "Do come and see me at my house in the country." So the City mouse went. The City mouse said, "This food is not good, and your house is not good. Why do you live in a hole in the field? You should come and live in the city. You would live in a nice house made of stone. You would have nice food to eat. You must come and see me at my house in the city." The Country mouse went to the house of the City mouse. It was a very good house. Nice food was set ready for them to eat. But just as they began to eat they heard a great noise. The City mouse cried, " Run! Run! The cat is coming!" They ran away quickly and hid. After some time they came out. When they came out, the Country mouse said, "I do not like living in the city. I like living in my hole in the field. For it is nicer to be poor and happy, than to be rich and afraid." 二、The Fox and the Crow A Fox once saw a Crow fly off with a piece of cheese in its beak and settle on a branch of a tree. ‘That’s for me, as I am a Fox,’said Master Reynard, and he walked up to the foot of the tree. ‘Good-day, Mistress Crow,’he cried. ‘How well you are looking to-day: how glossy your feathers; how bright your eye. Afraid that he would fall down thousands of feet, because he knew that place was a very deep valley, he took hold of a branch that was hanging over the rock. In the night all he couls see was a bottomless abyss. He shouted, his own shout reflected back--there was nobody to hear. You can imagine that man and his whole night of scare. Every moment there was death, his hands were becoming cold, he was losing his grip...... and as the sun came out he looked down and he laughed. There was no abyss. Just six inches down there was a rock. He could have rested the whole night, slept well---the rock was big enough---but the whole night was a nightmare. Fear is only six inches deep. Now it is up to you whether you want to go on cling to the branch and turn your life into a nightmare, or whether you would love to leave the branch and stand on your feet. There is nothing to fear.

"But, " said the child: "tell me here in Heaven I don‘t anything else but sing and smile. That‘s what I need to be happy!" God said: "Your angel will sing for you and will also smile for you every day. And you will feel your angel‘s love and be happy." "And," said the child: "how am I going to be able to understand when people talk to me, If I don‘t know the language that men talk?" "That‘s easy", said God: "Your angel will tell you the most beautiful and sweet words you will ever hear, and with much patience and care, your angel will teach you how to speak." The child looked up at God saying: "And what am I going to do when I want to talk to you?" God smiled at the child saying: "Your angel will Place your hands together and will teach you how to pray." The child said:"I‘ve heard on earth there are bad men. Who will Protect me?" God put his arm around the child, saying: "Your angel will defend you - even if it means risking life!" The child looked sad, saying: "But I will always be sad because I will not see you anymore." God hugged the child: "Your angel will always talk to you about me and will teach you the way to come back to me, even though I will always be next to you." 1.Making His Mark “刻舟求剑” A man from the state of Chu was taking a boat across a river when he dropped his sword into the water carelessly. Immediately he made a mark on the side of the boat where the sword dropped, hoping to find it later. When the boat stopped moving, he went into the water to search for his sword at the place where he had marked the boat. As we know, the boat had moved but the sword had not. Isn’t this a very foolish way to look for a sword? 2.To Pull up the Seedlings to Help Them Grow “拔苗助长” Once upon a time, there was an old farmer who planted a plot of rice. After he planted the seedlings, every day he went to the field to watch the seedlings grow. He saw the young shoots break through the soil and grow taller each day, but still, he thought they were growing too slowly. Eventually he got impatient with the young plants and suddenly he hit upon an idea that one by one, he pulled up the young plants by half an inch. The next early morning, the young man couldn’t wait to check his “achievement”, but he was heart-broken to see all the pulled-up young plants dying.
