Hi。Everyone，this is Zoe。Today we will have unit 05 part 03。
在上一集故事中，Alex教练和玛尼经过严肃认真的谈话，玛尼终于决定继续留在球队。
在球队的训练过程中，Paul扭伤了脚踝，在下一场关键比赛的时刻主力前锋受伤，
这让教练非常担心。
And the new year is coming, in order to keep up the team spirit,
Alex invites all the football player to come to his home having a party。
Let’s look at what is going on at their New Year’s eve party.
Cui, What an exciting new year party they have！Paul shouts：it’s party time！
新年前夜，球员们纷纷来到教练家，Paul 宣布：聚会正式开始。It’s party time！
Yes，at party，people always have a good laugh all night,
Mrs Carter give Manni a very warm welcome，She asks Manni：Do you like here？
Manni answered ：Everyone has been really helpful，the Club is marvelous。
Marvelous是marvel 奇迹的形容词形式，表示奇迹般的，不可思议的，了不起的，
the Club is marvelous我们的俱乐部简直太棒了！
Now Paul comes to them and says to his mom：
I hope you're not asking him too many questions。
He might get scared and run away. Paul is kidding Manni。他说：妈妈你别问他太多问题了，他可能会害怕然后跑掉。
He might get scared and run away.
Get scared: 害怕、惊恐
The thunder scared the children. 雷声使孩子们感到害怕。
No hardship can scare us. 没有什么困难能把我们吓倒。
Scare away本身也有吓跑的意思
The high price is scaring away possible buyers.

Mrs Carter knows that Paul has hurt his ankle，so she says：
You poor thing, come and sit down, put your feet up.
You know what they say - rest is best.
Carter夫人知道Paul脚踝受伤就让他休息，you poor thing，你这个倒霉的东西，
她说的“Rest is best".意思是“休息是最好的恢复方式”，

But now Manni really want to go away，he want to find a chance to speak to Emma。
卡特夫人也很喜欢Emma，她说：She is another lovely girl，my Paul’s crazy about her！ crazy here is not mad or ill in mind，but means very fond of or interest in sb 、sth。
用Crazy形容晚会，是指疯狂、无法无天，这里my Paul’s crazy about her！
是说我们家的Paul非常喜欢她。对她很着迷。我们来比较以下这两种意思：
You are crazy to go out in this stormy weather。
在这种暴风雨的天气里出去，你真是疯了。
She is crazy about dancing。她非常喜欢跳舞。
看来Carter夫人很关心球队和球员，也熟悉球员的情况。
在晚会上还会发生什么故事吗？
We see that during the party Jim rushed in and shouted ：Hello girls。
Jimmy-boy is here。Don’t all rush at once。
Jim冲了进来，嚷道：嘿，姑娘们，我在这儿呢！可不要一起冲过来哦！他的样子显得很滑稽。
In Emma's eyes, Jim was not really the one as he expect of himself.
He thinks too high of himself. Emma says：He was not a party person，
Emma 口气较委婉，说他不是晚会受欢迎的人He was not a party person，
Joe也这样认为，他说Jim以为自己是个人物呢He certainly thinks he is，
女孩子们恐怕就不这么认为了。言外之意是：你以为你是周星驰还是007，
一进来女孩子们就蜂拥而至吗？
It is normal that boys are crazy about girls on a party，
they are kidding each other， singing and dancing together。
Do you know there is a topic that people must talking about on the New year’s eve party，what is it？
Sure，that must be “New Year’s resolutions”。
新年前夜的晚会上，大家当然要谈新年的打算了。
Sophie asks Emma：So what do you want to happen in the new year？
这是问别人新年打算常见的方法：So what do you want to happen in the new year？

Emma of course want more success with her fashion designs，
so she answers：But more success with my fashion designs would be nice，
and a million dollar contract wouldn’t be bad ，either。

would be nice， and 。 wouldn’t be bad，这里对希望发生却没有发生的事，
不用will be nice，而是用would be nice和 wouldn’t be bad。
When sb speak out his wish，you can give him a good suggestion
like what Joe does：well you make a wish at midnight
and you never know your luck！

What is your New Year’s resolutions ？
Resolution 是决定、解决的意思，比如某个会议通过了什么决议就是用resolution这个词， carry or pass a resolution，New Year’s resolutions显得有那么点郑重其事的，
新年的决定、决心，一定或决心在新年里干的事。
In the West，Some people like to make a “New Year’s resolutions”
on new year’s eve，such as I will quit smoke。
I will quit electronic games。I will do more excersice。Sth like that。
They even write it on the paper，put it on the wall，or on the computer，
and let all the people around him know it，
so he can be supervised by them and can feel the pressure，
as if he can really make it。
Could he really make it ？Who knows？
