Oliver Twist is born in a workhouse in a town. His mother has been found very sick in the street, and she gives birth to Oliver just before she dies. Oliver is raised in the workhouse and then he was taken to Mr Bumble’s house.
Finally,
Fagin and the rest of the gang are arrested. He is executed
(处死）after Oliver has visited him in ห้องสมุดไป่ตู้he condemned cell (死刑监狱). At last we know, Oliver’s mother and Rose were sisters.
He
can't stand torture(折磨，痛苦）.Oliver runs away to London. Here, he is picked up by Artful Dodger, who’s one of the Jew Fagin’s gang of boys and taken to Fagin’s den（贼窝） in the London slums(贫民窟). Since then, Oliver, who does not understand that he is among criminals, stealing a pickpocket.
After
Oliver is caught by an old man, the victim of the thieves, Mr. Brownlow rescues him from arrest and brings him to his house where for the first time in his life he feels happy. Unfortunately, Oliver is kidnapped （绑架)by Fagin to do the same ‘work’.
Once，
Oliver is shot and wounded in the house of Mrs. Maylie and Rose. They find the wounded Oliver and let him settle with them .
Monks
is Oliver’s half-brother. Monks receives his share of that and goes away to America. He dies in prison there, and Oliver is adopted by Mr. Brownlow. At the same time, Fagin starts to learn that there are some complex connections.
