Book 1 Module1 Introduction & Reading and Vocabulary 教学目标:1.Train the students’ speaking skills. 2. Develop the students’ reading skills. 3. Revise some words of subjects. 4. Learn some language points. 教学重点: 1. Encourage the students to talk about their subjects. 2. Help the students to understand the passage. 3. Help the students to improve their reading skills. 教学难点:1. Make the students talk in class actively. 2. Let students master difficult language points. 教学方法: Skimming and scanning, individual, pair or group work and discussion. 教学步骤: Step I: Self-introduction This is the first English class in Senior High. I am fresh to the students, so are the students. So it is necessary to introduce myself to the students and get them introduce them to me and other students. I can make an example first. e.g. Good morning, boys and girls! It’s my honor to be your English teacher this term. At first, I want to introduce myself to you. I am called WangYuxi, so you can call me Miss Wang. I graduated from Qufu Normal University. I have been teaching here for about six years. I am fond of many things such as watching TV, listening music, sing songs, reading books and so on. To tell you the truth I also like sports, but I don’t have enough time to take exercise, so I am a little fat but not strong. I want I will have more time to keep fit and health. I am ready to help you with your English study more than vocabulary and grammar. I hope we can get on well with each other and become good friends. This is my introduction. Now it’s your turn, I will give you two minutes to prepare your self-introduction. Try to speak in English. You can use some phrases and sentences pattern on the blackboard (Some drills needed to be written on the blackboard ) My name is…/ I am named/called… I was born in … I graduated from… I like/am fond of / enjoy… I am a person who is…(outgoing, shy…) I hope/ want …(plan, hope …) This can be used in groups of 4 to have students introduce each other so that they may get familiar with each other. Step II Lead-in
Ask the students to tell me what subjects they learned in Junior High and what other subjects they will learn in
Senior High, ask them to speak in English as possible as they can. Then write the words on the blackboard, teach the students to pronounce the words they don’t know. Next get them to discuss their favorite subjects and explain the reasons, filling in the blanks in Activity 2 in groups of 4. At last show some of their answers. Step III Pre-reading Let the students think about the following questions about their first day at Senior High. 1. What was the weather like that day? 2. How did you feel before you got to school? 3. Was their anything special that happened? Then speak in pairs. Step IV while-reading Fast- reading Read the passage quickly and quietly, try to match each paragraph with its main idea. Para.1 Li Kang introduces his class Para.2 Information about Li Kang Para.3 To describe the new school Para.4 Ms Shen’s class Para.5 Meeting the new classmates Para.6 Ms Shen helps us study in a fun way Careful- reading Read the passage again and find the answers of the following questions quickly. 1. Find something about this school which is different from Li Kang’s Junior High 2. Find two things that the English teacher thinks are important to do in class 3. Find two things that the English teacher wants to improve Fill in the form

Language points Deal with some language points about the text. 1、Are senior High teachers similar to Junior High teacher? 高中老师和初中老师相似吗? (1)be similar to 意为“与……相似,与……类似 ,差不多”,反义短语为 be different from “与……不同”。 例如: The policy in Norway is very similar to the policies in other European countries. 挪威的这项政策与其他欧洲国家的政策很相似。 The weather of Beijing is quite similar to that of New York. 北京的天气与纽约的天气很相似。 Their tastes are different from mine. 他们的爱好与我的不同。 (2)be similar in 意为“在……方面相似”。 例如:
