〃众里寻他千百度〃：在那众多的游人中一一辩认，千遍万遍的地寻觅着那个人儿。

〃蓦然回首，那人却在灯火阑珊处J偶一回头，却发现自己要找的那个人却站立在灯火零落稀疏没有礼花飘落的幽僻地方！至此，读者已经意识到前面用大量笔墨，极力渲染元夕的热闹繁华，节日的流光溢彩，目的不在写景，也不在抒情，而是为了反衬〃灯火阑珊处〃的那个人。

而这个人不慕繁华，品性高洁，在人们趋奉竞进之际，耐得冷落，耐得清淡，耐得寂寞。

而这个人不是别人，正是受到朝廷冷落，不肯趋炎附势、不愿与投降派同流合污的诗人自己!这是辛弃疾屡遭排斥后, 借元夕所见以自述情怀，立意甚高：进那么轰轰烈烈，惊天动地;退那么斯人独处，自甘淡泊，安于寂寞。
