本模块以动物为话题,有利于激发学生的学习兴趣。通过本模块的学习,让学生增强爱护动物、保护自然环境的意识。本模块共分三个课时进行。第一单元是一节听说课型的新授课。作为模块的第一课,它为第二、三单元不仅提供了话题和语境,同时也为学生们后来的语言学习扫清语言和文化的障碍。在第一单元中,主要内容为托尼和玲玲与动物园解说导游的对话,通过孩子和导游间的的问答为学生介绍了几种动物的习性。学生的听说活动都是通过动物园游览而展开。第二单元的主课文是一篇关于动物的介绍性文章。它加介绍了5种动物,拓展了学生在物种和地理方面的知识。
