1.Introduction (Vocabulary and Listening—P41)
Two-thirds of the earth’s surface is water. 地球表面的三分之二是水。
⑴分数的表达方式：1)“分子基，分母序，分子大于一，分母加s. ”
eg: 5/6—five-sixths 3/5 —three-fifths
2)特殊表达
Eg:1/4 —one (a) quarter；3/4---three quarters 1/2 ---a half
⑵当主语前有分数或百分数时，谓语动词的单复数取决于分数或百分数后面的名词。
名词是复数，动词用复数形式；名词为单数或不可数名词，动词则用单数形式。
eg: More than two-thirds of the students of that school are boys.
拓展：
all,most,half,part,the rest 等作主语时，谓语动词的单复数也要依of后面名词的单复数而定。
eg: Part of the forest has been cut down. 部分森林已被砍伐。

小数、百分数的表示方法：
⑴小数点前面的基数词和过去讲的基数词的读法相同；小数点后的数字则必须一一读出：
0.0089→（zero ／naught）point zero zero eight nine
1.36→one po int three six
14.397—fourteen point three nine seven
⑵百分数：百分数由percent表示，百分号％读作percent，应用时常与by连用。
0.68％→zero point six eight percent
6％→six percent
369％→three hundred and sixty nine percent
eg:The price of cotton was reduced by 20 percent．棉花的价格下降了20％。
