I just started a really cool new English elective book this year and I'm super excited about it! It's called "Explorers of the World" and it's all about learning English through reading stories about kids exploring different countries and cultures. Our teacher, Mrs. Park, showed us the book on the first day and explained that we'd be going on an amazing journey together over the next few months. She said the book has 12 units, and each one focuses on a different country like Mexico, Egypt, South Africa, and more! In each unit, there are reading passages about kids visiting those places and learning about the food, customs, history, and everything else that makes those cultures so awesome.Mrs. Park said we'd work through one unit every two weeks. For the first week, we'd read the passages and learn new vocabulary words related to that country. Then the second week,we'd do fun activities and projects to really bring what we learned to life. I'm seriously so pumped! For the first unit on Mexico, we read this hilarious story about twin brothers going to visit their grandma in Mexico City for the first time. They got totally lost and ended up at this crazy awesome parade with giant puppets and mariachi bands. The story taught us words like "plaza," "sombrero," and "piñata." Then the next week, we made those mini piñata things out of paper bags and filled them with candy. We also learned a traditional Mexican dance called the Jarabe Tapatío. Getting t o smash the piñatas at the end was an absolute blast! The second unit was on ancient Egypt, which wasmind-blowing. We learned why the Nile River was so important and crazy words like "hieroglyphics" and "sarcophagus." For the project that week, we made our own miniature pyramids out of sugar cubes and depicted ancient Egyptian scenes on papyrus paper with hieroglyphics we learned. It was like being a real archaeologist! After that was a unit on South Africa and we read all about the cool wildlife and breathtaking landscapes there. The vocab words were awesome - words like "savanna," "watering hole," and "kruger." Our project was creating dioramas with thedifferent safari animals inside their natural habitats. Getting to paint the elephants, lions, and giraffes was my favorite part!Next up was Japan and we learned about the beautiful gardens, incredible technology, and fascinating customs. The story showed us how kids in Tokyo celebrated holidays likeChildren's Day and Buddhist festivals. We made origami animals, played traditional Japanese games, and even took a ffield trip to a Japanese garden nearby. It was like being transported to Tokyo! After Japan was a unit all about Australia and the outback. We learned about unique animals like the kangaroo, koala, and platypus. Our activities included making didgeridoos out of tubes and even practicing Aboriginal dot painting on little canvases. The whole room looked like the Australian outback when we were done! There have been so many other amazing units too - one on the Amazon rainforest in Brazil where we built mini rainforest terrariums. Another on France where we madecrêpes and 3D models of the Eiffel Tower. We evenmade our own holograms for the unit on South Korea and its incredible technological advancements.Every two weeks, it's been like taking a trip to a totally new place without even leaving the classroom. Along the way, we've learned SO many new English words, had amazing cultural experiences, and got totally immersed in traditions from around the globe. We only have two units left now - one on Canada and another on India. I have no idea what Mrs. Park has planned, but I'm sure it'll be just as awesome as everything else we've done so far. This was definitely the coolest elective course ever! Thanks "Explorers of the World" for helping me see so much of the amazing world we live in.篇2My English Elective Course AdventureHi everyone! My name is Lily and I'm a 5th grader. I just finished taking the most awesome English elective course ever and I can't wait to tell you all about it!When I first found out we could sign up for an extra English class, I was really excited but also a little nervous. English is fun but sometimes it's hard too. What if the class was too difficult or too boring? I shouldn't have worried though, because this class ended up being the highlight of my semester! On the first day, our teacher Ms. Roberts introduced herself. She had a big smile and seemed really nice. She told us the class would focus on improving our English skills through games, activities, stories and projects. We'd get to read super cool books, watch fun videos, act out skits and more! I couldn't wait to get started. Each week, we had a different theme to explore. One week the theme was animals, another was sports, then we did one on food. No matter what the theme was, we always had creative ways to learn and practice our English. For the animals theme, we read lots of stories and fables with animal characters. My favorite was the one about the thirsty crow that dropped pebbles into a pitcher to raise the water level. We also watched a nature video and made up funny commercials trying to sell different animal products. I'll never forget Jonah's hilarious alpaca shampoo commercial! For the sports week, we played charades acting out different sports and had to guess what they were. We also did research on famous athletes and gave presentations about them. I picked Serena Williams because she's such an amazing tennis champion. During the food theme, we created our own fun food-relatedstories and comics. Marcus wrote one called "The Epic Battle of Ice Cream vs. Broccoli" that had us all cracking up.My absolute favorite activity was the class play we did at the end of the semester. We all got to pick parts and Ms. Roberts helped us write and perform our very own fairy tale play. I was the good fairy and Jacob played the brave knight. We worked so hard on our lines, props, and scenery. On show night, we put on an amazing performance for our families. I was a little nervous at first, but then I remembered all the practice we did and just had fun with it. My parents said I was a natural!Throughout the whole course, we were always practicing our English skills in creative ways that felt more like fun than work. We learned new vocabulary words by playing form games or doing crossword puzzles with them. Grammar lessons involved singing silly songs or following "green grams and ham" recipes with all the parts of speech color coded. For writing practice, we'd do fun prompts like "You just got accepted to Hogwarts! What happens next?" or "Describe the most unique pet you can imagine."I've got to say, this elective was one of the best classes I've ever taken. Sure, we were learning important English skills, but it never felt boring or difficult. Ms. Roberts always made itengaging and let us explore the language through our own interests and creativity. I'll never forget the memories I made or the confidence I gained in my English abilities. We just got the sign-up forms for next semester's electives and you can bet I'll be putting my name down for this awesome English class again! I can't wait for another semester of adventures in reading, writing, acting, and most of all, learning English in the most fun ways possible. If you get the chance to take it, I highly recommend signing up. You won't regret it!篇3My English Class Adventure!Hi there! I'm Jimmy and I'm in 5th grade. I really like English class this year because we're using this cool new book called "Selective Compulsory English Textbook, Volume 2." It's pretty thick with lots of lessons, but my teacher Ms. Roberts has an awesome plan to make it super fun!First up, we're going to spend a few weeks reviewing what we learned last year. Ms. Roberts says it's important to have a solid base before moving on to new stuff. We'll go over篇4My Optional Course 2 English Textbook Adventure!Hi there, friends! My name is Emma and I'm a fifth-grade student. I just started using this really cool new English textbook called "Optional Course 2" and I'm super excited to tell you all about it!When I first saw the textbook, I have to admit I was a little nervous. It's pretty thick and it looked kind of hard. But my teacher, Mrs. Johnson, told us not to worry because we're going to take it step-by-step following a special teaching plan. Phew!So here's how it's going to work...First up, we'll spend a few weeks reviewing what we learned in Optional Course 1 last year. Mrs. Johnson says it's really important we have a solid foundation before moving on to new material. We'll go over basic vocabulary, sentence patterns, and conversation skills. I'm definitely a bit rusty after summer vacation, so I'm glad we're taking the time to brush up.Once we've got that baseline down, we'll dive into the first unit of Optional Course 2 which is all about daily routines. Things like talking about our morning activities, schedules, chores and hobbies. The textbook has lots of fun dialogues and pictures thatmake it way more interesting than just memorizing vocab lists. Although there are vocabulary lists too, of course! The second unit focuses on sharing experiences and personal stories from our lives. I'm really looking forward to this one because I love telling stories and hearing about what my classmates have been up to. The unit covers past tense verb forms which will be new for us, but Mrs. Johnson has lots of games planned to make practicing them interactive and engaging.Up next is a travel unit all about visiting different countries, learning about their cultures, and describing vacation activities. We'll learn fun travel phrases and vocabulary words like "passport", "suitcase", and "jet lag." My family loves road trips, so I'll get to share my crazy travel tales for sure! There are even some short readings about popular tourist destinations that look fascinating. After that comes a unit on shopping and spending money wisely. This one will include lots of fun role-plays where we can pretend to go shopping and practice politely asking for things, negotiating, etc. We'll also learn about making wise purchasing decisions and the importance of saving money. Sounds like itcould get a little preachy, but I know Mrs. Johnson will make it fun.The fifth unit is all about food, nutrition, and making healthy choices. I have a feeling this will be my mom's favorite unit! We'll read about different foods from around the world and their nutritional value. We'll also learn fun food vocabulary like "savory", "al dente", and "culinary." There's even a section on table manners that I guess I probably need to pay close attention to...oops!After winter break, we'll tackle the sixth unit which is called "Modern Living and Technology." I'm really excited for this one because I love anything related to computers, smartphones, apps and the internet. We'll learn lots of cool tech vocabulary and practice skills like sending emails, describing computer issues, and talking about our favorite games and social media. Finally, a unit right up my alley!Towards the end of the school year, we'll cover the seventh unit focused on social issues and values. This is where we'll discuss important topics like environmentalism, poverty, education access, and human rights. It sounds quite serious, but Mrs. Johnson promises we'll get to analyze inspirational stories, debate current events and come up with creative solutions. I'm a little nervous, but also intrigued to tackle such grown-up themes.Last but not least, the final unit is a fun wrap-up called "Entertainment and Pastimes." Here we'll read about celebrities, play games and sports, discuss our favorite books and movies, and share about our own hobbies. It'll be the perfect way to have a blast while showing off all the incredible English skills we've developed over the year.Phew, that's a ton of material to cover! But with Mrs. Johnson's awesome teaching plan, I know we'll be able to work through Optional Course 2 step-by-step without getting overwhelmed. Every unit combines reading, writing, listening, and speaking practice. And we'll do lots of projects, performances, and group work to really internalize what we're learning.I really appreciate how the textbook exposes us to such a wide range of practical, real-world topics that go way beyond just grammar drills. By the end of the year, we'll be having full-on conversations and discussions about all kinds of fascinating subjects. We'll gain so much valuable knowledge along with tons of new vocabulary and fluency. While Optional Course 2 definitely looks challenging, I can't wait to dive in with my classmates. With Mrs. Johnson's guidance and this awesome teaching plan, I'm sure it's going to be an incredibly enriching experience. We're going to work hard, but have a blast while leveling-up our English abilities. Just call me a "fluent friend" by the end of fifth grade! Let the learning adventure begin!篇5Teaching Plan for Selective English Compulsory Book 2Hi everyone! My name is Emma and I'm a 5th grader at Maple Elementary School. Our English teacher, Mrs. Johnson, just told us that we'll be starting a new English book called "Selective English Compulsory Book 2" this semester. I'm really excited to learn more English!Mrs. Johnson said this book will build on what we learned last year in Book 1. We're going to practice reading, writing, listening, and speaking even more. She showed us the book and it looks pretty thick with lots of lessons. But she said we're going to take it step-by-step and have fun while learning. The first unit is called "Family and Friends." Mrs. Johnson said we'll learn vocabulary words about our families and differentkinds of friends. We'll also practice using pronouns like he, she, it, they properly. There are some cute comic strips and pictures that go along with the lessons. I can't wait to read those! The second unit is "Food and Health." Yum! We're going to learn names of different foods and how to describe if they are healthy or unhealthy. Mrs. Johnson said there will be a project where we get to make a menu for a healthy restaurant. I hope I get to be the chef!Unit 3 is called "Hobbies and Recreation." We'll learn hobby words like swimming, reading, dancing and more. Then we'll practice writing and talking about our favorite hobbies. There's also a section on outdoor activities like hiking and camping. That will be useful for summer vacation! The middle unit is "Traveling and Transportation." This one sounds really cool! We're going to learn about different kinds of transportation like cars, trains, and planes. Then we'll pick a real place and plan out an imaginary trip there. We'll have to write about how we'd get there, where we'd stay, and what we'd do. I hope I get to pick Disney World! After that is Unit 5 - "Shopping and Consumption." I didn't know what "consumption" means at first, but Mrs. Johnson explained it's just about buying things you need or want. We'llpractice the language for going shopping, asking about prices, and paying. Then we'll do a fun role-play where we open our own stores!Unit 6 is "Weather and Seasons." This one will teach us vocabulary for different kinds of weather like sunny, rainy, snowy, etc. We'll also learn about the four seasons and how the weather changes. There are some experiments too, like keeping a temperature log. Science and English together - awesome! The last unit is "Environment and Protection." Mrs. Johnson said this is a very important unit about taking care of our planet. We'll learn to identify different environmental problems and discuss solutions. There's a team project where we come up with ways our school can be more environmentally friendly. I'm going to suggest we recycle more and use less plastic!Throughout the whole book, there will be review sections and tests to make sure we're understanding everything. We'll get chances to practice our communication skills by doing activities like role-plays, games, and group projects. Mrs. Johnson also said we might take a couple of fun field trips related to the units!Overall, Selective English Compulsory Book 2 seems like it will be an exciting way to keep building our English skills. I'm a little nervous about some of the harder activities, but I know Mrs.Johnson will make it fun and go at our pace. With lots of practice and hard work, I'm sure my classmates and I will make great progress! Maybe by the end of the year, we'll all be tiny English experts. How cool would that be? Let the learning begin!篇6My English Class is So Much Fun!Hello friends! My name is Lily and I am in 5th grade. I love going to school every day, especially for my English class. We are using this really cool book called "Selective Compulsory English Volume 2" and I want to tell you all about the awesome things we are learning!First of all, our teacher Ms. Roberts is the best. She makes English super duper fun and easy to understand. At the start of the school year, she went over the whole teaching plan with us for the textbook. I'll share what I remember!Ms. Roberts said the book has 8 total units we'll cover this year. Each unit focuses on a different topic that lets us practice listening, speaking, reading, and writing in English. Unit 1 is called "Hello, World!" and it's all about greeting people and introducing ourselves. We played lots of games practicingphrases like "What's your name?", "How are you?", and "Nice to meet you!"Unit 2 is named "My Family" where we learned vocabulary words about family members. We even made cute family tree projects to describe our parents, siblings, grandparents, and more. My favorite part was interviewing our parents and sharing interesting facts about our families with the class. The next unit was "Hobbies and Interests" where we talked about our favorite activities and things we enjoy doing for fun. I loved learning the English words for my hobbies like reading, dancing, and playing soccer. We did fun role plays pretending to be interviewers asking each other about our interests.Unit 4 is called "Let's Explore!" and it's all about traveling to new places. We learned how to read maps, give directions, and talk about visiting different countries and cities. We even had a class travel agent dramatic play center which was a blast! After that was Unit 5: "The Great Outdoors." This one focused on nature vocabulary like trees, flowers, animals, and outdoor activities. One highlight was going on a nature walk around our school and looking for items to label in English. We also did experiments about the environment which was really neat."What's for Dinner?" is the title of Unit 6 where we learned all about different foods, nutrition, and table manners. I'll never forget the funny food pyramid rhyme our teacher taught us! We also got to taste yummy snacks from various cultures during our international food fair. My favorite was the fresh mango from Mexico.Unit 7 is named "Once Upon a Time" and is centered around fairy tales and fables. How cool is that? We read classic stories like Cinderella and The Three Little Pigs, then did fun activities like storytelling, drama activities, and writing our own creative endings. Fairy tales are my favorite! The very last unit is called "Our Changing World" which explores technology and how innovations have impacted our lives. We learned vocabulary about computers, smartphones, the internet and more. We even did coding activities on tablets which was super engaging. I can't wait to become a tech whiz!As you can see, we are doing such a variety of neat topics and activities in our English class this year. Every unit has helpful vocabulary lists, songs, chants, and stories that make learning English easy and enjoyable. There are also review sections to reinforce what we've learned. My favorite parts are the hands-on projects we get to do for each unit. Things like crafting, role playing, and show & tell help me remember the new words and grammar concepts. I also love how each unit incorporates games, dancing, singing, and acting. It's really an engaging way to learn! What I think is really cool about our textbook is how it blends English instruction with lessons about different cultures, nature, and real-world scenarios. We aren't just memorizing vocabulary - we are putting it into practice through authentic tasks and fun themes.Another major plus is that the textbook has lots of colorful pictures and illustrations. The images really bring the lessons to life and make them more meaningful, especially for visual learners like me! I'll never forget what an "archaeologist" is after seeing that picture.Overall, I absolutely love learning English through this book. My teacher has done an amazing job following the teaching plan and making it interactive for all her students. I'm improving my English abilities so much while having a blast!Whether we are reading stories, playing games, or exploring nature, every class is an adventure. I can't wait to finish all 8 unitsof the "Selective Compulsory English Volume 2" book by the end of this school year. Who knows what other fun we'll have?!If you aren't using this fantastic textbook in your English classes yet, I highly recommend it. Thank you Ms. Roberts and thank you textbook writers for creating such an engaging way to learn English! I'm off to prepare for my role play as a travel agent. See you next time!。

Today we'll listen to a story about some people in a theatre. What do you think is happening in the picture? (从图上看你认为发生了什么事情?)What is the man in front doing? Why? Listen to the story, then tell me: Why did the writer complain to the people behind him?(听故事,然后告诉我,为什么作者抱怨坐在他身后的人?)《新概念英语》第2册教师用书总是提供这样的一个问题。

8A(Unit 1__12)8B (Unit 1__12)
