B Let’s talk
ⅠAnalyzing the teaching materials
The lesson that I am going to talk about is from PEP primary English Book8 B.let’talk in Unit3.This unit is mainly about a special question and a simple question in simple past tense: What did you do last weekend/yesterday? And the answers: I (did) … .
Did you …? Yes, I did. /No, I did’t.In this lesson I will mainly deal with the latter. Ss have learned a simple question in simple present tense, so it is easy for Ss to master this lesson.
ⅡTeaching aims
A. Knowledge aims
1. To enable the Ss to understand and speak: “Did you …? and the
answers: Yes , I did ./No, I didn’t ,make sure that they can use the new sentences in the daily life .
2. To help the Ss finish the survey.
B. Skill aims
1. To develop the students’ abilities of listening and speaking.
2. To train the students abilities of working in groups.
3. To foster students’ of communication and their innovation.
C. Emotion aims
1. To foster S s’ consciousness of cooperation.
2. To inspire the S s’ interest of learning English and help them build
up self-confidence.
Ⅲ.Teaching key points
1. To help the Ss use the sentences in real situation.
2. To enable the Ss to study in groups and cooperate skillfully.
Ⅳ.Teaching difficult point
To make sure the Ss can use the base form and the past form.

CAI, a tape recorder, pictures and word cards.

“Task-based” teaching method, speaking and practicing teaching
method, communicated teaching method.
Ⅶ.Teaching steps:
Step 1. Warm-up
1.Free talk between T and Ss.
2.Enjoy “Let’s sing” together.
3.M ake reports with “what did you do yesterday?”.
4.Review some phrases last lesson with showing picture by CAI. Purpose:I t’s very important to form a better English leaning surrounding. At the some time, it provides a situation to
review learnt knowledge for the next step.
Step 2. Presentation and practice
1.T presents the sentence pattern: “Did you …?”by asking some students and leading another Ss to answer Just like this:
T: What did you do yesterday?
S1: I watched TV.
T: Did you watch TV yesterday?
S2: Yes,I did.
S3:No, didn’t
T: Did you…?
S4 : …
2. Practice the sentence pattern: Did you…?Yes, I did / No, I didn’t ( Write them on the blackboard )
3. T presents “let’s try.” and asks “what did John do yesterday?”
4. Have Ss listen carefully and circle the correct answer,then check.
5. Listen “Let’s talk”and answer“what did Mike do yesterday?”.
“Did he read books?”
Purpose:The lead-in can make students understand easily in a real situation and foster Ss’ abilities of listening and speaking.
6. Have Ss reread the main sentence on the blackboard.
7. Present the dialogue in “let’s talk” with CAI, then have Ss listen
and repeat.
8. Lead the class read the dialogue in class, in groups, in pairs.
9. T provides more pictures to the Ss, and has them make new
conversations. Then check some pairs.
Purpose:The speaking and practicing methods used here can make students master the main sentences easily.
Step 3.Consolidation
Group work: Have S s finish the exercise “L et’s find out” in their books. (T shows the form with CAI)
Purpose: Task-based teaching method is used here to develop S s’ ability of communication and also their ability of
cooperation will be well trained.
Ⅷ.Home work
1. Act the dialogue in page 32 with partners after class, and recite it.
2. Copy the dialogue in page 32 in your exercises books for twice. Purpose: Revision is so important that Ss should speak English as much as they as in or after class .It can help the Ss grasp the
knowledge they learned fully.
