We Are Born Lonely17115112 ZouQianlu Mary And Max, an inexpensive clay animation, has dull colors, unattractive figures and plat plots. Yet, this movie discusses some of the most penetrating problems——family, friendship, love, sex, society, mental illness and so on. Though it narrates a 20-year friendship between 2 pen pals, Mary and Max, I see the eternal loneliness of human from it.At the beginning of the movie, Mary’s family members were introduced. Her father, a factory worker, attaching the strings to tea bags. He enjoyed sitting in his car, drinking, and creaming and stuffing birds he’d found on the freeway. Her mother was drunk and listened to cricket all the time. Mary wanted his parents to accompany her more, but they didn’t. Mary, a 8-year-old girl, couldn’t find support and warm from her parents. When she was laughed by her classmates, what her mother did only made it worse. Also, I didn’t found married love between the couple. The husband was honest and old-fashioned, who gave a mannish haircut to his daughter. But the wife was a habitual thief, who might have a troubled girlhood. And she told Mary: You was an accident. Therefore I supposed maybe they were forced to get married because of the baby. The 3 closed relatives acted like 3 irrelevant individuals. That’s the loneliness among a family. In addition, Max felt betrayed and extremely indignant seeing his friend analyze him as an mental patient in her book. Max had Asperger’s syndrome, nevertheless he didn’t regard himself as a sufferer, for he didn’t want to change his so-called symptoms. He shared all these to Mary, but it turned out Mary didn’t understand at all, despite she is the only and the best friend of Max. She might not even know why Max got irritated and grieved so much. Perfect friends don’t exist. There’s no one who will understand another person totally. One man is an island. Sometimes a person may would like to approach, but he or she will always fail to land. That’s the loneliness between friends. Moreover, Mary’s husband and dream, Damian, eventually left her for a man, in that Mary indulged herself in alcohol after she knew Max wanted to finish their friendship. She had no one to talk about her feelings, and she sealed her heart up to her dearest husband. Damian could neither help her nor understand her. Time went by, and he found another new happiness. When I saw this scene, I felt pity and pathetic for this couple, as although they ate together, slept together, shared everything intimate, their emotions were still isolated. That’s the loneliness between mates.Mary and Max was a warm movie, so I saw the family bought Mary’s favorite chocolate condensed milk; the friend gave suggestions that how to deal with bully; the spouse still said I love you and showed the willingness to help when he had left. Fortunately, life is lonely, not negative. I will go on mine with loneliness and hope.。

Mary and Max" is a poignant stop-motion animated filmthat delves into the complexities of human connection, loneliness, and the search for identity. Directed by Adam Elliot, the film is a narrative tapestry woven from theunlikely pen-pal correspondence between Mary, a young girl from Australia, and Max, a middle-aged man with Asperger's syndrome living in New York. The film's visual style is striking, with its monochromatic palette and meticulous attention to detail that brings a tactile quality to the characters and their environments. The stop-motion animation is not just anartistic choice but a narrative device that underscores the film's themes of time, change, and the fragility of life.At its core, "Mary and Max" is a character study. Mary's isolation and yearning for friendship are palpable, and her vulnerability is expertly conveyed through her letters to Max. Max, with his idiosyncrasies and struggles, provides a mirror for the audience to reflect on the nature of empathy and understanding. Their relationship is a testament to the power of communication and the possibility of finding solace in the most unexpected of friendships. The film's narrative is both heartwarming and heartbreaking. It explores the depths of loneliness and the human condition with a raw honesty that is at times difficultto watch but ultimately rewarding. The humor, often dark and self-deprecating, is a salve that lightens the heavier moments, providing a balance that keeps the film from becoming overly somber. One of the most compelling aspects of "Mary and Max" is its exploration of the concept of identity. Both characters are on a journey of self-discovery, and their exchanges reveal their insecurities, dreams, and fears. The film challenges the audience to consider the impact of our past on our present and the ways in which we construct our sense of self. The voice acting is superb, with the late Philip Seymour Hoffman and Toni Collette delivering performances that are nuanced and deeply felt. Their vocal work adds emotional depth to the characters, making the audience invested intheir journey. In conclusion, "Mary and Max" is a deeply affecting film that resonates long after the credits roll. It is a celebration of the human spirit and a reminder of the importance of connection in a world that can often feel isolating. The film is a masterclass in storytelling, character development, and the power of animation to convey complex emotions. It is a film that invites reflection and conversation, and one that I would highly recommend to anyone seeking a thought-provoking and moving cinematic experience.。

Mary and Max is a poignant and thought-provoking film that delves into the depths of human connection and the complexities of mental health. Told through the lens of an unlikely pen-pal friendship between an eight-year-old Australian girl named Mary and a middle-aged Jewish man named Max living in New York, the movie takes us on an emotional journey that spans decades. The stop-motion animation is exquisitely crafted, adding a unique and whimsical touch to the otherwise heavy subject matter.Throughout the film, we witness the profound impact that this epistolary relationship has on both Mary and Max's lives. For Mary, Max's letters provide a much-needed escape from her lonely childhood, offering her a glimpse into a world vastly different from her own. She finds solace in his honesty and unconventional wisdom, which helps her navigate the complexities of growing up. On the other hand, Max, plagued by mental illness and social anxiety, finds in Mary an unwavering source of acceptance and understanding, something he has long craved. The movie's exploration of themes such as loneliness, mental health struggles, and the power of human connection is both poignant andbrutally honest. It doesn't shy away from depicting the harsh realities of Max's battles with anxiety, depression, and obsessive-compulsive disorder, nor does it sugarcoat the challenges faced by Mary as she grows up in a dysfunctional family. Yet, amidst the darkness, there is a glimmer of hope – a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the transformative power of genuine friendship. One of the most striking aspects of the film is its ability to seamlessly blend humor and pathos. The quirky and endearing characters, coupled with the witty and often absurd dialogue, provide moments of levity that balance out the more somber and introspective moments. This delicate balance is masterfully achieved, creating a viewing experience that is both emotionally engaging and deeply introspective.Another noteworthy element is the film's portrayal of diversity and acceptance. Mary's unwavering acceptance of Max's eccentricities and struggles serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of empathy and understanding. Furthermore, the movie's exploration of mental health issues challenges societal stigmas and encourages open and honest discussions about these often-taboo topics. In conclusion, Mary and Max is a cinematic gem that transcends the boundaries of traditional animation. It is a poignant and thought-provoking exploration of the human condition, delving into thedepths of loneliness, mental health struggles, and the transformative power of genuine connection. Through its exquisite stop-motion animation, well-crafted characters, and skillful blend of humor and pathos, the film leaves a lasting impact on the viewer, reminding us of the importance of empathy, understanding, and the enduring strength of the human spirit.。
Mary and Max
