In this essay, I will delve into the significance of travel, the joy of exploration, and the cultural exchanges that make our world a more interconnected and fascinating place.Firstly, travel is a window to the world, offering afirsthand look at the diversity that exists across different regions. It allows us to step out of our comfort zones and engage with the unfamiliar. Whether it's the majesticpyramids of Egypt, the Great Wall of China, or the bustling streets of New York City, each destination presents a unique tapestry of sights, sounds, and experiences that canprofoundly impact our perspectives.Secondly, the joy of exploration is intrinsic to the human spirit. Traveling ignites our curiosity and fuels our desireto learn. Thethrill of discovery lies in the small details—a conversation with a local, a walk through a marketplace, or the taste of astreet food that becomes a fond memory. Moreover, travel facilitates cultural exchange, which isvital for promoting understanding and tolerance among people from different backgrounds. When we travel, we share our stories and listen to others', creating a dialogue that fosters mutual respect and friendship. This exchange of ideas and traditions can lead to a deeper appreciation of theworld's rich cultural diversity.Lastly, the personal growth that comes from travel is immeasurable. It challenges us to adapt, to be resourceful, and to navigate through the unknown. The experiences we gather, the lessons we learn, and the people we meet along the way contribute to our personal development and shape us into more well-rounded individuals. In conclusion, travel is an investment in oneself. English passages:1.The Great Wall of China is a series of fortifications made of stone, brick, tamped earth, wood, and other materials, generally built along an east-to-west line across the historical northern borders of China in part to protect the Chinese Empire or its prototypical states against intrusions by various nomadic groups or military incursions by various warlike peoples or forces. Several walls were being built as early as the 7th century BC;[3] these, later joined together and made bigger, stronger, and unified are now collectively referred to as the Great Wall.[4] Especially famous is the wall built between 220–206 BC by the first Emperor of China, Qin Shi Huang. Little of that wall remains. Since then, the Great Wall has on and off been rebuilt, maintained, and enhanced; the majority of the existing wall was reconstructed during the Ming Dynasty.Other purposes of the Great Wall have included border controls, allowing the imposition of duties on goods transported along the Silk Road, regulation or encouragement of trade and the control of immigration and emigration. Furthermore, the defensive characteristics of the Great Wall were enhanced by the construction of watch towers, troop barracks, garrison stations, signaling capabilities through the means of smoke or fire, and the fact that the path of the Great Wall also served as a transportation corridor. The Great Wall stretches from Shanhaiguan in the east, to Lop Lake in the west, along an arc that roughly delineates the southern edge of Inner Mongolia. A comprehensive archaeological survey, using advanced technologies, has concluded that the Ming walls measure 8,850 km (5,500 mi).[5] This is made up of 6,259 km (3,889 mi) sections of actual wall, 359 km (223 mi) of trenches and 2,232 km (1,387 mi) of natural defensive barriers such as hills and rivers.[5] Another archaeological survey found that the entire wall with all of its branches measure out to be 21,196 km (13,171 mi).[6]---- The Great Wall of China, Wikipedia2. On one of those sober and rather melancholy days , in the latter part of Autumn, when the shadows of morning and evening almost mingle together, and throw a gloom over the decline of the year, I passed several hour in rambling about Westminster Abbey. There was something congenial to the season in the mournful magnificence of the old pile; and, as I passed its threshold, seemed like stepping back into the regions of antiquity, and losing myself among the shades of former ages.----- “Westminster Abbey”, by Washington Irving Chinese passages:1.八达岭长城位于北京市延庆县军都山关沟古道北口。
