或者说有害烟雾妨碍主动的救生行为和被动的逃生行为。
从火灾的发展过程的研究中可以看出，火灾发生的开始阶段，首先产生大量的烟雾和热能。
烟雾由于热的作用而上升并聚集在建筑物的上层。
如果烟雾和热能不能迅速排出，建筑物内的温度很快就会上升，进而加大火势。
另外火灾发生时，建筑物内由于氧气的大量消耗，会使建筑物内产生强大的负压，导致建筑物坍塌。
盖泽（GEZE）公司自动排烟排热(RWA)系统可与气象控制系统连接，根据测得的温度，湿度，阳光照度，风的强度，下雨程度的数值，并与预先设定值相比较，从而进行自动地开窗和关窗。
电动开窗器系统的特点是已独立的消防电气控制装置（消防电动升窗机控制设备）E260N为中心，一方面提供电动开窗器的驱动电源，另一方面连接各种控制单元，如手动排烟排热按钮，烟感探头，换气按钮，风雨传感控制器等。
尤其重要的是该控制箱可以与现代消防中心连接，接受消防中心开窗和关窗的指令，同时将开窗器系统状态（系统正常，报警，系统故障）传输给消防中心。
因此，该系统即可以执行日常换气功能，又可以在紧急状态下执行排烟排热功能。
消防电气控制装置（消防电动升窗机控制设备）E260N的输入电压应为230VAC 50HZ，防护等级为IP54。
控制箱与开窗器的连接有监视电路，当开窗器连线断路时，控制箱可提供故障显示。
控制箱可以连接换气按钮，和风雨传感器，在日常换气状态下，如果建筑体外风力过大或有雨时，自动将窗户关闭。
