The present paper puts washback into a broader theoretical framework, from the perspective of impact study, discussing the potential consequences of language testing on students, teachers, teaching system as well as society. It introduces those aspects of testing that have to language teaching and learning, coupled with practical suggestions on how to ensure positive washback. The design of testing is divided into six aspects, including investigation of knowledge and range, knowledge and ability of sampling, topic choice, test question compilation, assessment method and the process, the result of the test management and use, which goal is to maximizing the positive role of text, and at the same time to avoid its potential adverse effects. It also stresses the necessity for in-depth studies of this phenomenon.2、[Title] Language testing: New technology and theory[Author] Gui Shichun[Publication and Time] Guangzhou foreign language college[Abstract] In this paper the author reports on the latest development in language testing in Britain. Part one the present state of language testing and related research; part two sums up the advantages of using computers in language testing, discusses the impact of computer technology on the form and content of language testing, and explores the prospect and problems of the use of computers; part three argues for the desirability of applying the simple one-parameter model, rather than other more complex models of Item Response Theory to language testing in China. The author observes that although improvement in testing seems to be a matter of technology, it actually involves a reorientation of educational thinking.3、[Title] 结构方程模型及其在语言测试中的应用[Author] 韩宝成[Publication and Time] 现代外语(季刊)2006年2月第29卷第1期[Abstract] 结构方程模型(SEM)是一种融回归分析、因素分析和路径分析于一体的验证性统计分析技术,近年来在许多学科应用甚广,而在外语教育研究领域应用极少。
