目的:引起学生的学习兴趣,了解人物的外貌特征,(即不管外貌如何在不同的游戏中都能获胜)的对比培养学生的情感和态度:不要以貌取人(Don’t judge by appearance)。

Step2 Presentation
1 Lead-in a new lesson. If someone helps you, maybe ,you know the way ,but can you tell what he or she looks like ?

Ask: What does he /she look like ? What does his/her hair look like ? Ask the students to pay attention to the pronounciation . Learn the new words by watching PPT about Xiaoxin’s changing .
3 Teach activity 1a
Point out the numbered list of words in 1a and get the students to read the list of words after the teacher. Use the letters to match the people in the pictuer with one of the numbered word.Tell them some letters can be used more than once.
Give them 2 minutes to finish it ,later present the answers on the PPT.
4 Teach activity 1b
Call attention to the speech bubbles in the picture and let the students finish 1b. Say: You’ll hear a conversation between Amy and her friends. Fill in the blanks and find out who is Amy’s friend.
5 Having a guessing game
Present PPT about some famous people. Ask : What does he//she look like?(Balotelli Luyu Yi Jianlian Harry Potter ChaiJing )
6 Playing a game
Get one or two students to the blackboard .and the other students describe him or her.
Step3 Practice
1 Listening(Activities 2a and 2b )
T: Now ,we’ll do some listening practice to learn how to
describe people’s looks .First ,you need to have a quick look at these two activities ,then I’ll play the tape twice.
The first time,students take some notes and answer these questions and the second time ,listen and fill in the chart. Play the tape again ,ask some students to present their answers .correct mistakes if any.
2 Pair work (Activities 2c )
Put the students into pairs .boy students ask questions, girl students answer the questions about the people in chart in 2b.
Step 4 Consolidation (2d)
First play the conversation to get main idea. Then lead the students to read together ,explain the language points.
Ask : What time are they going to meet? Where are they going to meet? What does David’s look like?
Then ,put them into two groups ,one is Mike ,the other is Tony .Ask them to act it out. Have them to pay attention to the pronounciation and intonation.
Step5 Summary
In this period ,we’ve learend how to ask about and describe people’s looks .First ,we ‘ve learned the new words by matching them with the people in the picture. Then we’ve
practiced using these words by watching PPT and doing the listening practice. And we’ve consolidated the target language by practicing conversations in 2b.

1 Finish off period 1 in workbook.
2 Describe your best friend’s looks and your parents’looks.
