汉译英 1 我原打算在今年一月访问中国，后来又不 得不予以推迟，这使我深感失望。 It was a keen disappointment that I had to postpone the visit which I had intended to pay to China in January.





英译汉 1He came yesterday. 他昨天来的。 2 He drinks half a bottle of beer with each of his meals. 每餐他都要喝半瓶啤酒。 3 He is not happy, though he is rich. 他虽富有，但不幸福。 4 We ate to our heart’s content at her home last Sunday. 我们上星期天在她家尽情地吃了一顿。

或刻意为之的文字游戏里。如下面这则用回文辞格(palindrome) 写

子----一副当地农民的打扮。

【译文】何必多此一举？ 注：Newcastle是英国的产煤中心，把煤往那
儿运，自然是多此一举，徒劳无益。

《现代汉语词典》：“翻译是把一种语言文字的 意义用另一种语言文字表达出来。”

第二节 增译法

第三节 减译法
3. Insufficient power made it difficult to start the motor. （先行代词it） 电力不足，难以使马达启动。 4. Reading furnishes the mind only with materials of knowledge; it is thinking that makes what we read ours. (强调句型中的it) 读书只能给大脑提供知识的材料， 思考才能把我们所读的东西变成自己 的。
