We passed through mountains and wide rivers, and we saw cities and small towns. It was like a moving postcard of Canada.As we traveled eastward, we passed through more mountains and wide rivers. We also saw some wildlife, including moose, bald eagles, and beavers. It was an exciting experience to see all this wildlife up close.One day, we were traveling through the Rocky Mountains when suddenly it started snowing. The scenery was even more beautiful with the snow falling on the mountains and the railway tracks. It was like a scene from a Christmas card.Eventually, we arrived in Toronto, Ontario. My friend had to leave to go back to work, but he had arranged for me to stay with his cousin until I left for home. His cousin took me on a tour of the city and showed me all the sights.After two weeks in Toronto, I decided to fly home to my family in the United States. This unit tells about the geography and multiculture of Canada.A Trip on “The True North” plays a great role to illustrate this wonderful country and it offers good material to practice students’ reading skills.As for the students, they love traveling. For them, traveling abroad can be an exciting thing and Canada can be an attractive country. However, not all of them have the experience of traveling let alone traveling by train. In fact, there are still some students who never got a chance to take the train.Based on the above analysis of the teaching material and students, I set the following teaching objectives:1.Obtain general information through skimming the text.2.Get specific information through scanning the text.3.Understand the text and make a summary of the text.4.Indirectly experience traveling by train and the beautiful landscape of Canadathrough video watching.The teaching important point is using different reading skills to get different information.
