Text B, written by the Asian American writer Amy Tan, reveals her understanding of the English used by her immigrant mother and explores how the languages her mother has used also influence her own identity and writing career. Is Writing Better than Calling?With the rapid development of modern technology, cell phones have extremely been more and more prevalent and crucial in our lives. As a result of that, more and more people choose to make a phone call instead of writing a letter when they contact their friends and relatives. But, for this kind of phenomenon, many people doubt that Is calling better than writing?To the question, the answer vary from person to person. Some people think that writing is better, but others argue that calling is better. But for me, I agree to the later idea. In my eyes, there is no doubt that calling is truly a direct way for communication. As we all known, writing a letter needs to prepare the envelope, paper and stamp, it is too boring to do these things. What's more, it takes a lot of time for my friends to receive the letter. However, compared with the letter, calling is better at some aspects. For example, calling is very convenient. We don't need to prepare the envelope, paper or stamp. Instead, we only need to press few buttons to have a happy conversation whenever or wherever we want. By phone, we can hear the other's true voice, and we can express our feelings and share our happiness immediately. In addition, we also can use our phones to send messages when we have something which is not suitable to be said face to face. In addition to these functions, cell phones also can help us kill the time when we are boring by surfing the internet and playing phone games.
